Locating the Zone entrance[edit]

Finding the first zone won't take very long. The most difficult part will probably be simply knowing what to look for, as the zone entrance is not particularly obvious. On the way, you should search through several rooms to load up on equipment. First enter room A right near the start.

Room A[edit]

Room A won't appear to contain anything more than a gun on the East wall of the room at first, but once you collect the Ultraspace Sensor, you will return to this room to access another zone. For now, collect the gun and open the door on the West side to access Room B. Be prepared for a possible surprise attack from an enemy just in case.

Room B[edit]

In room B, you can collect a gun from the North wall, and a life increasing potion from the West wall. Grab them both, and then face south to open the door that returns to the mansion. Again, be prepared for a random surprise enemy attack.

Room C[edit]

There are a few things to grab in this room. First, collect the gun from the North wall. Then turn around and face the South wall. Hit the frame next to the door to find a grenade. Then face the West wall. Open the cupboard on the right to find a yellow potion. Collect it, and then open the door that leads to the first hidden room.

Hidden room a[edit]

As you can see, not all of the rooms in the house are accessible from the mansion map. If you face the South wall, you will find no exit. This room can only be reached by entering through Room C first. Grab more grenades from the drawers on the West wall, and turn around to collect another gun from the cupboard on the East wall. Then face the north wall and open the window. If you point at it and select "GO", you will be on your way to the first Zone.

Into Zone 1[edit]

The first zone is broken into three sections. In the first section, you must remain on the top layer while avoiding attacks from bats. If you get knocked down to the bottom layer, you must avoid slimes while you retreat to the beginning in order to jump back up to the top again. When deal with the slimes, stick to using your knife.

To be on the safe side, shoot the bats from a distance with your gun, but be careful as they are likely to immediately respawn after the first time that you kill them. Remember not to kill more enemies than you need to. Enemies don't provide you with items, so the only reason to kill them is to get them out of your way.

When you reach the second section of the zone, you must cross a long bridge, while fish leap out from the water and hop over the bridge. You can stab them with your sword if you time it right, but there's no reason to attack them if you don't have to. They jump with very predictable timing, so simply walk carefully across the bridge.

When you reach the opposite side of the bridge, the third section will begin. It is pretty much the same as the first section. Once again, if you get knocked off the high layer, you will have to back track along the bottom layer until you can climb back up again.

Every now and then, the screen may flash, indicating that a flying enemy is appearing on the screen. In this zone, the only flying enemy that you encounter is a disembodied brain that hovers across the screen in giant loops. It is easy to predict, but sometimes difficult to avoid. Let it go past you, and continue on your way.

Boss[edit]

Dr. Chaos Zone 1 boss.png

The boss of the first zone can hardly be considered a boss at all. This small defenseless animal is guarding one of the most important items of all: the Ultraspace Sensor. Without it, you will be unable to locate any of the other zones that you need to visit to complete the game. It is also guarding the first piece of the laser gun that you need to assemble. As this critter slowly advances fearless towards you at a snail's pace, simply poke it with your sword until it is defeated. Do not leave it for too long, otherwise it will grow larger and will take more hits to return small. Never shoot it with your gun, otherwise it will grow too big to deal with. Then collect the Ultraspace Sensor and the laser gun piece to earn a password that will restore your progress thus far if you turn the game off.

The bad news is, you have to turn around and walk all the way back to the door at the beginning of the zone. The good news is, you don't have to stick to the top layer, so if you like, simply walk along the bottom layer and deal with the slime instead of the bats. Bear in mind that they too are likely to immediately respawn after the first kill, so don't advance until you are sure that it's safe.
