Unlike regular enemies, bosses are really tough. You won’t encounter them too often (but you can encounter one boss several times during the game), and they have a few abilities which make them stronger:

  • Bosses are immune to Disc of Repulsion and Banishment Device. They also don’t receive damage when you throw a monster at the boss with Disc of Repulsion.
  • They receive only 1/4 of damage from Cleric’s Wrathvenge.
  • They don’t receive damage from explosions of Mage’s Bloodscourge. Still they do receive damage from the direct hit.
  • Other monsters will never attack bosses.

Here is the list of all bosses:

  • Death Wyvern is undead flying beast, which always moves in circles, constantly firing explosive fireballs at you. When you encounter it in the basic game, you’ll be in a big pool of lava with a narrow path around the perimeter. If you walk on this path, you’ll pick up Wings of Wrath and will be able to fly just like the Wyvern. In the add-on you will have to fight this foe on foot.
  • Zedek of the Legion was the boss of Fighters, now he’s undead warrior who serves Korax. He’s fast, but his HP is low. His weapon is Quietus (best Fighter’s weapon), so beware of five explosive bolts fired with each of his attacks.
  • Traductus of the Church is fast and possesses low HP just like Zedek, but he’s a Cleric. This means, he wields Wraithverge which fires 4 self-guided ripper ghosts. Either use Disks of Repulsion a lot to send these creatures back or use Icon of the Defender to become invincible.
  • Menelkir of the Arcanum has the same stats as other two “class” bosses (despite playable classes have different AC and speed). His weapon is a Bloodscourge (best Mage’s weapon), so beware of self-guided fireballs.
  • Heresiarch is a mage so powerful that he is mentioned in Heretic. He has a lot of HP and possesses several magical spells: Lava heads (jumping self-guided lava balls), Fireballs (a long burst of purple fireballs), Summoning (summons Dark Bishops) and Invincibility (becomes invincible as long as purple ball(s) fly around his head). When he fires Fireballs at you, he will aim to where you were standing in the beginning of his attack, giving you perfect opportunity to flank him. When you see at least one purple ball around his head, he is invulnerable; don’t attack him when this happens or your projectiles will just ricochet back at you. Be careful when using Cleric’s Wraithverge because if Heresiarch is invincible, ghosts it produces will fight you instead. Even if Heresiarch becomes invulnerable when ghosts already attack him, they will fight back as soon as his invincibility is turned on. There are also up to 3 rotating cubes around his head, each of them reduces the time needed to cast corresponding spell. After Heresiarch’s death these cubes explode, so don’t try picking them up.
  • Korax is the final boss of the game. His HP equals to Heresiarch’s one, and he cannot become invulnerable. On the other hand, he attacks with 6 fast fireballs at a time, and he always fights with his henchmen at his side. When low on HP, he will teleport away and let you fight with a bunch of regular monsters. After a recess the fight will go on.
