Hexen fighter.png

As you might have guessed, Baratus the Fighter is a close quarters combatant. He can receive more hits before falling down due to his high AC, and his weapons deal great amount of damage as well; still, Fighter is not very good at medium-range combat, and he’s really useless in a long-range combat. The Fighter requires less strategy overall as he can just run towards enemies to beat them down. Against ranged enemies, he should close the distance quickly but carefully, strafing to avoid projectiles.

Weapons[edit]

  • Spiked Gauntlets is the most powerful starting weapon among all the classes’ weapons. It won’t be completely useless even later in the game. If you hit a monster 2 times in a row with Gauntlets, the next strike will deal doubled damage and cause a knockback. You need to hit a monster (hitting walls don’t count) and then attack as soon as possible for increased strike to take effect.
Damage Mana
40-55 physical (basic), 80-110 physical (powered) none
  • Timon's Axe is a very useful weapon despite it’s a melee one. It has a nice reach, speed and damage. As long as you have enough mana, blue stroke will be displayed around the axe; if you run out of mana, blue stroke will disappear, but you will be able to use Timon’s Axe anyway. It will be dealing decreased damage, so its effectiveness will be slightly less that Spiked Gloves’ one this way.
Damage Mana
80-122 physical (basic), 40-61 physical (decreased) 2 blue
  • Hammer of Retribution looks just like another melee weapon, but it’s not. Despite it can be used as a melee weapon, its basic attack is a hammer throw. The hammer explodes on impact, dealing a nice amount of damage to nearby targets. The projectile flies quite slow to be really effective against far away targets, especially flying ones who love to strafe, unless there is a wall behind the target so that the monster will be hit by an explosion even if not by a direct hit. As a melee weapon it doesn’t require mana, dealing a significant amount of damage (nearly the same amount as Timon’s Axe with mana), but the speed leaves much to be desired.
Damage Mana
10-80 fire (direct hit), 128 fire (explosion), 60-123 physical (melee) 3 green
  • Quietus is a sword with burning flames around the blade. It has no melee attack, firing 5 bolts instead. Each bolt deals damage with direct hit and with explosion. Bolts fly in different directions, so using this weapon in a long-range combat will result in wasting 3 or 4 bolts. But it is truly devastating at point blank range.
Damage Mana
8-64 physical (direct hit), 64 physical (explosion) 14 both

Usage of Artifacts[edit]

  • Mystic Ambit Incant: Increases AC by 1.
  • Flechette: Fighter is not really ingenious using this potion, just throwing it in front of himself. Flechette flies forward, exploding on impact.
  • Icon of the Defender: Invincibility (doesn’t protect against instant death). No additional effects.
