Town of Davis[edit]

Remember what you were told in Bread Town: "Davis has mushrooms". This town looks like a lone mushroom in the middle of an islet.

Text Notes
Pink man: "This is Davis. It was closed to the outside by the werewolves and has become lonely." Welcome!
Blue boy in house: "The huge rock to the west was put in place by a curse of the wolf king. To break the curse, the power of the horn is needed." This is your current quest.
Red woman in house: "The person who sees the shining dog's eye will be able to obtain the horn." This is your current quest.
Blue girl: "Werewolf castle lies in ruins. A monster is living in this castle, which was once inhabited by humans. Werewolves were greedy, but so are humans." This is your current quest.
Orange girl: "The Werewolves' Territory begins here. If you walk into the castle carelessly, terrible things will happen." This is your current quest.
Red man in house: "Pixie, on the other side of the huge rock, used to be a merry place. We will probably never see it again."
Red man: "The red ring is at Fon's cave in the south. The spirit of the ring will be sure to help you."
Blue boy: "Besides the red ring, I have also heard that there is a rapier which houses an elf's spirit."
Red son: "Do you have a letter to me from my mother in Bread?"
  • "I am the son of a woman in Bread. Thank you for taking care of my mother. I will give you this B-dagger. Thank you very much."
  • "Take care."
Side quest for a strong weapon, started in Bread.

Fon's cave[edit]

The Rapier Elf is so useful that he earned a place on the original game box!

This cave is located south-west from Davis.

Try the four paths in this order:

  1. The South path is a dead end.
  2. The East path leads to the Elf's rapier; turn south at the first fork.
  3. The West path leads to the Red Ring; turn north at the first fork.
  4. Continue east, and Maria will join the North path; keep east, and she will find a fragment of hope (n.4).

IMPORTANT: try and collect the two spirit items before you get the fragment of hope; this way, the new spirits will be upgraded by one extra hope-level.

The Elf's rapier becomes one of the most useful spirits in the game, as soon as he gets 2 fragments of hope (indeed, he is depicted on the game cover); in fact, his "Hold" spell is very effective against most enemies. Twana will learn the same spell later, but the Elf's one has a better success rate.

Werewolf castle ruins[edit]

These ruins are located south from Davis.

Trapped chest: "We werewolves protect this castle. If you defeat us, the treasure is yours."

In the ruins there are three entrances to the castle dungeons. In each dungeon there is one chest guarded by werewolves. Try and explore them in this order:

  1. The stairs just south of the entrance lead to a fragment of hope (n.5). Now the Elf learns the "Hold" spell (if Maria collected the Elf's rapier before the fragment of hope in Fon's cave).
  2. The stairs far in the west leads to a chest with 100 Rubies.
  3. The stairs north of the entrance lead to the boss...

Boss: King Wolf[edit]

Trapped chest: "I am the wolf king. Why do you disturb my sleep? I will not stand for it!"

Summon two spirits, then attack the Wolf King with all three characters, and he will fall quickly.

After the victory, Maria finds the Dog's Eye (a jewel or an artifact) in the chest.

Cave of the dog statue[edit]

This cave is located north-west from Davis.

At the fork, first go south and jump into the hole. The east path is a dead end; a fragment of hope (n.6) is at the end of the north path; go south-east and climb back up to the previous floor.

Continue north and do as the old man says: the passage will open. Downstairs, the south path is a dead end, therefore go east and collect the horn from the chest.

Blue old man:
  • (before getting the Dog's Eye): "The way will be opened when the light returns to the dog's eye."
  • (after getting the Dog's Eye): "It is said that there is a horn which can break the rock behind the statue of the dog. Now, put the Dog's Eye back in the statue."
  • (after using the Dog's Eye): "Keep going on. There will be something to break the curse of the werewolves."
The dog began to speak: "Oh! I have awoken from a 300 years sleep. Now, let us break the curse of the werewolves. You must go on. Use the horn as your weapon to break the curse in the rocks."
The sound of the horn resounded in the area as if it came from the ground. The curse was broken, and the giant rock turned into sand.

Leave the cave and continue south. When Maria reaches the huge rock, use the horn, and the way will open.
