The Afterlife[edit]

Upon landing you'll find the mercenary Zaeed Massani "persuading" a Batarian to talk. You can pick him up for your squad or just ignore him for now. Either way, his mission is covered later.

It's time to head to Omega to collect the first of three potential squad mates, Mordin Solus. Use the galaxy map in the Normandy's CIC to find yourself in the Sahrabarik system. Fly to and dock with the Omega space station. For now follow Moklan's advice and head straight for the Afterlife club.

Inside the club you can find a bartender off to the right. You can purchase the bottle of Serrice Ice Brandy at the bar for the associated sidequest if you wish. Make your way up the stairs in the back to Aria's lounge. You can discuss quite a bit with her, but we're just interested in the whereabouts of our missing professor. When you've got a fix on him, head back out of the club and off to the marketplace.

In the lower level of the marketplace you can find Kenn, a quarian merchant who's got himself in a bit of a bind with the elcor merchant Harrot. Help him out if you're interested and check his kiosk for the T6- FBA couplings your engineers need. To the east of where you entered the marketplace is the pathway to the slums, and Professor Solus. Talk to the guard to get through and to the slums.

Model Scientist Salarian[edit]

Up ahead, behind some crates is a container of element zero. Follow the path into Goza District and take out the Blue Suns members blocking a door near the bank terminal. Beyond the door are some power cells. Back outside you can hack the terminal for some quick cash. Continue along the path, stopping to talk to the sick batarian. Pressing him for info on the professor may give you the option for a paragon interrupt, giving him a bit more life and a promise that you'll tell the doctor of him. After you pass the batarian, hack open the door to your right to find a safe with a nice sum of credits waiting. Continue on to the mess hall for another firefight with Blue Suns. Near the exit to this area, search a turian corpse for an assault rifle upgrade.

Beyond the door you'll come under fire from the Blood Pack. Taking the stairs just right of your entrance will lead you to a balcony that should give you the advantage of high ground. A well placed sniper shot from here can even kill enemies behind cover. A small room off of this area contains an element zero container. Beyond yet another door here is the apartment of a dead turian. You can pump the looters here for information, persuade them to stop looting, or stop their looting with a chunk of hot lead between the eyes; your call. Head back to the foyer and continue to follow the path.

Once in the clinic, find Mordin and enter the room across from him. You can "liberate" the contents of a med kit and containers of platinum and palladium. There's also research data here for increasing your medi-gel capacity. In Mordin's office/exam room are another med kit, containers of iridium and element zero, and power cells. With your pockets full, go ahead and speak with Mordin. He agrees to join you, but only if you can help him distribute his cure for the plague. He'll also ask for your help in finding his assistant, Daniel. As a token of good faith, he'll hand you a M-6 Carnifex Hand Cannon and send you on your way.

The Cure[edit]

Leave the clinic, turn left first chance you get, and quickly take cover behind something. You'll have a decent firefight with Blood Pack mercs here. Just pick them off one-by-one and try to save the fuel canisters for use against armored targets. When the first group is dead, head toward the stairwell left of where you entered but be sure to take cover again — the stairwell has a few more vorcha (including a pyro) and a krogan. At the top of this stairwell is a bank terminal you can hack for some easy credits. Keep following the path up another flight of stairs to reach a hall with two doors, on eon either side.

Beyond the first door, on your left, is Daniel. Check the related sidequest for more on dealing with his situation. After you've dealt with that (or ignored it all together), head through the door on the right. In here you'll find a few vorcha to blast. With them gone, head through the next door and down the stairs. At the bottom, head left and take cover quickly. A number of Blood Pack heavies line the balcony across from you and will spam rockets in your direction. Stay on this upper level and pick off the heavies with sniper rifles, pistols, or long-range powers. From this level you should then be able to finish of the remaining mercs from relative safety. When the coast is clear, head downstairs and through the door.

Just follow the path, dealing with a few enemies, until you reach the ventilation control room. Fight your way to the alcove at the opposite end of the room and insert the cure into the control unit. Once you turn back around more enemies will show up and two heavies will be on the balcony across from you. Deal with them then head to either side of the room to reach the fan control rooms. Regardless of which side you pick, you'll have to clear the path of enemies before you can get through to the fan control. After activating fan 1 or 2, head back out, fight you way through the path (again) and make your way to the other side of the room. Be careful when approaching the other side, not only may there be a pyro or krogan in the way, but heavies will be lining a balcony across from you. Fight your way into the other fan room and hit the switch to cure the plague and return to Mordin.

Mordin will be most pleased with his cure distributed and will finally join your crew. Head back to the Normandy to welcome him aboard and get access to the ship's Tech Lab.
