Item Unlock Method Description
Pokémon Food
Pokémon Food (Apples)
Reach 24,000 points or more. Can be used to lure Pokémon out of hiding, lure them closer for a better photo, or lure them to gather groups. If you hit a Pokémon on the head with it, you will get its attention and likely an interesting pose. For some Pokémon, you can repeatedly strike them to freeze them in place while you wait for other Pokémon to move around. To use the infinite supply of apples, press A button while not operating the camera. Every Apple is thrown at the center of the targeting reticle.
Pester Ball
Pester Ball
Reach 72,500 points or more. Pester Balls are thrown like apples. They are used mostly to flush Pokémon out of hiding spots, whether it be tall grass, a steaming crater of lava, or thick brush. Pester balls are necessary for getting a photo of at least one of the PKMN Signs. To use a pester ball, hit B button while not looking through the camera (don't touch Z button).
Dash Engine Open the alternate route in Course 6: Valley. Press and hold R button to double the movement speed of the ZERO-ONE Vehicle along the track. You can use this to catch a glimpse of Pokémon that you normally wouldn't be able to see moving at a slower pace. You can also use it to reach the end more quickly when your goals have been met.
Poké Flute
Poké Flute
Unlock the Dash Engine and reach 130,000 points or more. The Poké Flute is used to wake up snoozing Pokémon as well as to make Pokémon dance or, in Pikachu's case, strike an interesting pose. Pressing Down c will change the tune and, sometimes, the particular dance the Pokémon is doing. The Poké Flute will continue while you take pictures, but will stop if you throw an apple or pester ball.
