SonSon II map Stage 2 a.png

You start the stage in the lower left corner of the map above. Hopefully you have a good amount of Zenny, ideally over 2000. Clear away the red Oni as you rise up the steps, and then watch out for the blue and yellow slimes that fall onto the platform over the lava as you approach it. Jump up to the rising platform and ride it to the top. Jump off onto the ledge to the right and attack the blue Oni waiting for you there. One of the pots below the ladder should contain the cloud item which lets you fly through the air when your fighting the boss. This item will be extremely useful, so don't miss it.

Climb up the ladder, and the one to the left of it until you see a plant rising out of the ground to the left. Deal with the plant carefully, and to the left of the plant, you'll find Sagojo. Rescue him, and return to the right, clearing the pots on the right ledge if you wish. Then drop back down to the ground below and proceed to the right. Once you reach the bridge, you'll notice a series of fireballs leaping out of the lava. Cross the bridge carefully until you can reach the lowest hanging vine on the right. Then climb up and cross back over to the left, watching out for any blue Slimes along the way. Reach the door and press and hold up to continue.

As you jump up from platform to platform, watch out for the two plants which pop out of the ground along the way. Ride the rising platform up to the area above. Check out the pots on the ledge to the right if you want, and then proceed to ride the higher platforms back to the left until you reach the next ledge below a ladder. Climb up the ladder, but as you do, watch out for the floating peach that may attack as you get close. Hop over to the ladder on the right, and over to the ledge beyond.

Cross over to the right, and after jumping up two high steps, watch out for another plant. From here, you'll see a rising platform. Beyond this platform, you'll find a giant Sutegon which takes a large number of hits to defeat. If you have over 2000 Zenny and at least one more use of fist power, ride the platform up to the doorway, which leads to a small chamber containing a shop keeper. It's only the second stage, and prices have taken a dramatic rise. She does sell a new spell, the shield, for 1500 Zenny. It's expensive, but it can be useful, and you won't find it for any less anywhere else. However, hidden behind the shop keeper is actually Cho Hakkai. You need to use the fist to break a hole in the wall in order to reach him. Cho Hakkai offers to sell you a new staff for 2000 Zenny. It's definitely worth the expense if you can afford it.

Back outside the shop, you'll have to decide whether you want to try and defeat the Sutegon, or simply lure it over to the left and sneak past it by using the rising platform. If you choose to fight it, you can safely drop down to the ledge on the right and attack it from there. Continue left, watching out for any slime, and then hop on the floating platform over the lava. Ride it to the small platform on the right. From here, you must carefully jump around from platform to platform. First you must rise to the top (you can head to the left corner for a heart). Then make your way to the right, watching out for a floating peach that likes to attack here. Then finally, climb down the ladder and make your way to the door in the lower right corner.

You'll be greeted by a pair of blue Patapata bats as you begin climbing to the right. Time your jump to the next platforms while watching out for the fireball, and then watch out for the next fireball as you leap to the ladder. You'll pass the locked exit door to your right on your way up. When you reach the first ledge on the left, you can find a shop keeper waiting there across a bridge beyond some fireballs. Already, the shield spell has increased in price, and only the luckiest players will have been able to save up 5000 for the bomb spell.

The key to the exit is waiting at the top of a loop. You can go either way to get it, neither way is really more difficult than the other. This walkthrough will send you to the left first. Climb up the ladder above the exit, and then leap from one ladder to the next over the bridge. Then hop over to each of the rising platforms until you can jump back to a stationary platform on the right. Continue to the right, climbing the steps until you see the key. Watch out for a plant that pops out of the ground right beneath the key. Clear it away and collect it.

Now you can head to the exit. Continue to the right, but when you see a floating platform approach, don't take it. Instead, drop down and you'll see another doorway. Head through the doorway to find a room with two Darumas inside. There's a lemon and a watermelon worth a total of 600 Zenny to collect. If you don't feel like fighting the Darumas, then letting them jump over your head is the easiest way to avoid them.

Back outside, Boros will be flying around. From here, you can simply drop down to the ground below and make your way back to the exit. The area to the right doesn't contain a lot, except for one useful thing. You'll find a shop keeper in the upper right corner, but this one doesn't run a shop. She simply asks if you think she's pretty. However, there's a large heart hidden away in the wall beneath her. If you don't have any fist power left, you should actually be able to find one in the pots below this area.

Boss: Kogagi[edit]

SonSon II Stage 2 boss.png

The boss of this stage is a character who has the appearance of a small child riding on two flaming wheels. With these wheels he can hover and attack from the air. If you were fortunate enough to locate the cloud from a pot early on in the beginning of the stage, then it will appear when the fight begins, and you will be on even footing. Kogagi attacks by breath a trio of orbs that fan outward. Your staff can destroy them, but in order to get close enough to strike Kogagi, it's difficult to destroy all three of them and avoid getting struck. Optimally, you can position yourself so that your staff just reaches Kogagi, and you are lined up to destroy the center orb while the remaining two float past you. This is difficult to accomplish since Kogagi moves a lot. Nevertheless, keep striking him as frequently as possible while doing your best to destroy the orbs until he is defeated. He will explode into a small set of fruit, while any remaining orb on the screen will turn into a 1 Zenny cherry.
