Changes[edit]

Using the dynamic nav, I think I made this look MUCH better and much easier to deal with. This should function on Monobook, and Bluecloud, I'll also port this to the other skins. This will work very easily, and very cleanly for every guide and will allow every person to get exactly what they want on each page. But if you want more you can easily get it. What does everyone think? -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 22:52, 26 June 2006 (PDT)

"Table of Contents" and "Show" links are confusing[edit]

I think the table of contents expander (the "show" link) should be moved to the "table of contents" link itself, so long as it is readily apparant what that link does. (Maybe give it an up/down arrow?) The link to the table of contents article itself could be presented once the menu is expanded, as it is otherwise generally redundant and confusing to have in the main bar itself. Do you guys agree? echelon 02:22, 7 August 2006 (CDT)

I've got this written down on my todo list, but it's not easy, and MediaWiki won't allow the use of HTML <a> tags, whilst normal MediaWiki links (both types) don't have flexible enough syntax to deal with it. --DrBob (Talk) 05:30, 7 August 2006 (CDT)
I don't know that I like that idea - what if somebody's surfing with Java disabled? I'm all for renaming the existing "Show" link to something more descriptive (maybe "Expand ToC"?), but removing it entirely mightn't be a great idea. --aniki21 07:54, 30 August 2006 (CDT)
When I get round to it, I'll add the Javascript to the link in such a way so that you can follow the link normally if Javascript is disabled. ;-) --DrBob (Talk) 08:22, 30 August 2006 (CDT)

Usage of custom- spelling[edit]

The text reads this at the moment:

The custom variable is for adding extra links to be always visible to the left of the walkthrough link.

Shouldn't it say to the right of the walkthrough link?

I'm not an admin so I can't change this. Can someone please help?

Taken care of, good catch :). -- Prod (Talk) 13:12, 7 February 2007 (CST)

Walkthrough in the AGN, but no Getting Started?[edit]

Shouldn't Getting Started pages be given a chance? Don't the deserve to be placed right up there with the big boys like Table of Contents and Walkthrough? It's time we take a stand for those pages who don't get enough credit! --Notmyhandle 00:28, 16 February 2007 (CST)

game title[edit]

The game title should be italicized by default in the template. CyberSkull 01:12, 11 July 2007 (CDT)

Missing Num Parameter Maintenence Check?[edit]

Wasn't sure how to word the header on that one, but I'm suggesting that we add an #if: to tag a page with a category like: "Category:Guides without num" so that we can find all the pages that are, for whatever reason, missing their num parameters (which are required to accurately keep track of the main page statistics). It seems like there would be a better way to do this, but I'm not sure. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 14:49, 25 March 2008 (CDT)

This can be tracked using DPL, which is how I found them the other day. I've now added this at StrategyWiki:Cleanup project/Missing num. A similar trick can be used to find pages that lack a Header Nav but have another template that applies a category (meaning they don't show up on Special:Uncategorizedpages). Walkthrough on games that don't need it[edit]

Certain games (Team Fortress 2) don't actually require a walkthrough, nor is there anything to walk anybody through. Is there a version of this template for multiplayer only games, or is there something else I'm supposed to do in this case?

Also, slightly off topic, where do I request a new template? Kadir 00:52, 25 June 2008 (CDT)

Our policy on games like TF2 is to say that there should be pages describing tactics for all the maps and classes, and the walkthrough should either redirect to, or provide an introduction to these. For example, with the CSS guide, the walkthrough page redirects to /Maps.
You can request a new template in the staff lounge. :-) --DrBob (talk) 01:34, 25 June 2008 (CDT)
Alright, thanks. Kadir 02:34, 25 June 2008 (CDT)
