Welcome to StrategyWiki![edit]

Hello Vikrant AP! Welcome to StrategyWiki. Thank you for your contributions. If you have any questions, just contact a sysop through their talk page or post on the staff lounge, and they'd be happy to help. If you need help editing, check the editing article or the StrategyWiki Guide. If you have a question about the content on this wiki, you can check out our staff lounge page. If you want to ask questions or hang out in IRC, we're usually around. On the other hand, if you have ideas for StrategyWiki, bring them up on the community portal talk page. Please remember to sign your name on talk pages by clicking Wikisigbutton.png or using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Finally, please do your best to always fill in the edit summary field as this helps to document all of your hard work. Feel free to delete this message from your talk page if you like, or keep it for reference. Happy editing! -- Prod (Talk) 12:59, 2 March 2007 (CST)

Template:bp[edit]

Hi. I was patrolling edits in the Pokémon guides, and I noticed that after most links to Bulbapedia, a Pokémon's level is listed. Since it's hard to keep such things consistent, I figured it would be a good idea to add the facility to specify a Pokémon's level to the {{bp}} template. To this end, could you use {{bp|Pokémon name|Pokémon level as a number}} when linking to Pokémon in future (where applicable)? If you want more information, I've added usage documentation to the template. Thanks, and keep up the good work! --DrBob (Talk) 13:26, 9 March 2007 (CST)

Luxury Ball[edit]

Hello, great work on the Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire guide (it was my first edit on that page). I'm working mainly on the Silver, Gold and Crystal page but occasionally check the Ruby guide and I have noticed that you have put that you can only find the Luxury Ball in one place. You can actually get them from winning a Master Rank Pokémon Contest as well (the first time a pic will go in the museum then you will get Luxury Balls every time after that). Keep up the excellent work!--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 15:06, 10 March 2007 (CST)

Image size and redirects[edit]

Hi VikrantAP. Thanks for all of your Pokémon contributions. I just wanted to let you know two things. First, please try to limit the size of the images that you upload to a width of 320 or less. The box scans you upload look great, but ultimately, they only get seen at roughly 250 pixels wide, so that's a big file upload when a smaller file would be just as good. Second, I deleted your redirect from Category:Pokemon to Category:Pokémon. I understand your point, be we generally try to discourage category to category redirects because it just creates confusion. It's better to rely on competent editors such as yourself to correct any mislabeled categories, should any appear. Thanks again, and keep up the great work. Procyon (Talk) 12:30, 31 May 2007 (CDT)

Images can't have a : in them, it's converted to a - so be careful. -- Prod (Talk) 19:42, 14 June 2007 (CDT)

New pages[edit]

When starting a new page (like the Table of Contents or the guide front page) try to use the preload buttons that are just above the edit box. They will set up a lot of the formatting for you and save us some cleanup. -- Prod (Talk) 11:32, 1 June 2007 (CDT)

Nice job starting off those main pages :). However, when creating Table of Contents pages, please use full names for the links (refer to this diff). Happy editing :) -- Prod (Talk) 12:52, 17 February 2008 (CST)
It should only take a minute extra. You are already typing the names in for the locations, might as well do the links as well. It also saves us a few minutes from having to clean up every ToC page you make (and there are plenty of other things we have to clean up on the site already). -- Prod (Talk) 11:47, 18 February 2008 (CST)

Deprecated templates[edit]

The discussion is on the community issues page somewhere. {{All Game Nav}} has been replaced with {{Header Nav}}, mainly because it's a clearer name. and in the {{Footer Nav}}s backpage has been changed to prevpage. I've got a bot going through making the changes, so don't worry if you forget. There's also the links you can press in the "insert box" thing below the edit box. -- Prod (Talk) 10:26, 11 June 2007 (CDT)

Header Nav isn't a deprecated Template, All GAme Nav is. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 17:31, 11 June 2007 (CDT)

Template:Poke-stub[edit]

I've deleted this template and modified the {{stub}} template to do what this template does. Just call it with {{stub|Pokémon}}, like in Pokémon Pinball: Ruby and Sapphire. --SkizzerzTalk - Contribs 11:50, 12 June 2007 (CDT)

Cleanup project[edit]

Welcome to the cleanup project... sorry, we don't really have one of those standardized welcome messages for this group. -- Prod (Talk) 11:31, 13 June 2007 (CDT)

err prod, {{Cleanup project welcome}}
Umm, yes...I knew that... -- Prod (Talk) 11:48, 13 June 2007 (CDT)
When moving pages, please remember to clean up the pages that link to it. Usually it's just the Table of Contents for the guide, though there could be more. If you miss a few, one of the sysops will come by and clean it up. -- Prod (Talk) 20:51, 15 June 2007 (CDT)

Welcome to the cleanup project[edit]

Thanks for joining the cleanup project; we hope you'll find our work useful, and possibly even fun. :-) Is there anything you're unsure about, or are you confident you truly know everything there is to know about the layout standards and operating procedures for clearing things up? Before you start, make sure you've read the layout policy thoroughly. --RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 11:42, 13 June 2007 (CDT)

Just because the page contains all the currently know cats, doesn't mean it doesn't require the {{needcat}} tag. For example, on Incoming you didn't add the company cat. It should be added even if it doesn't exist. If the company wasn't filled in, you should still leave the needcat tag so that we know something is still missing. -- Prod (Talk) 19:30, 19 June 2007 (CDT)

Summarize your edits[edit]

Hi VikrantAP. Please fill in the edit summary box when you make changes. It's not just for you, it's a courtesy to all of the other editors. Thank you. Procyon (Talk) 10:03, 14 June 2007 (CDT)

ToC inclusion[edit]

Did you change anything when doing this edit? -- Prod (Talk) 19:42, 14 June 2007 (CDT)

If the games are mostly the same, the ToC's should be shared. You should only add a few links which discuss major differences. If there are small differences in the games, they should be mentioned in the common walkthrough. -- Prod (Talk) 20:37, 15 June 2007 (CDT)

Template:Wikipedia placement[edit]

Hey Vik, I saw your change on Incoming and I was gonna revert it but then I was like, well this isn't a decided thing... SO! Please don't change the placement of Template:Wikipedia anymore until it is decided (under the ToC or under the external links). There's no point in moving them around until we have a standard (which is why I'm not reverting it). Peace, thanks. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 12:53, 19 June 2007 (CDT)

copyright violations[edit]

It's really apparent if you copy a guide from GameFAQs, so don't do it! The page Pokémon Colosseum/Mount Battle (here if you're a sysop, check out the first revision) has been copied almost verbatim from this GameFAQs file (go here and click on "Battle Tower Guide"). Such copyrighted material will be deleted on sight, so keep that in mind whenever you decide to plagiarize again. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 12:17, 21 June 2007 (CDT)

When adding your source, try to do it in the edit history when you initially paste the information in. Keeping a page together with its talk page is much more difficult than keeping it with its history. If you could actually add the links into the edit histories for the pages you have already made, that would be great (for example Teen Titans, just make a small edit and say something like Information gotten from [[1]] in the summary. -- Prod (Talk) 10:37, 5 July 2007 (CDT)

New categories[edit]

Please verify that you aren't copying an already existing category. The Ubisoft cat already exists. -- Prod (Talk) 10:31, 24 June 2007 (CDT)

Heretic guide[edit]

Hi. When copying content from Wikipedia (or other GFDL sources), we're legally obliged to link to the edit history of the source, or copy it across so that attribution is maintained. I've done this for the Heretic guide (see its talk pages), but in future could you make sure to do this yourself please? Thanks. --DrBob (Talk) 10:50, 2 July 2007 (CDT)

You can't see Talk:Heretic? --DrBob (Talk) 11:31, 2 July 2007 (CDT)

Codename: KND[edit]

Doesn't Codename: Kids Next Door: Operation: S.O.D.A./Game Levels belong in Codename: Kids Next Door: Operation V.I.D.E.O.G.A.M.E.? -- Prod (Talk) 20:07, 4 July 2007 (CDT)

Bringing stuff in from Wikipedia[edit]

Good job bringing stuff in from Wikipedia; it's appreciated. All that content would've been deleted otherwise! :-) --DrBob (Talk) 10:44, 5 July 2007 (CDT)

When bringing information over from WP, can you add a comment about where it came from to the summary. That way we keep track of where it came from, and who wrote it. -- Prod (Talk) 15:28, 7 May 2008 (CDT)

Cleanup project members[edit]

As part of our ongoing cleanup project, we are transitioning to a category based membership scheme for the StrategyWiki:Cleanup project. The member listing at the bottom of the page has been removed so if you would like to rejoin the project, please add Category:Cleanup project members to your user page. -- Prod (Talk) 13:05, 12 October 2007 (CDT)

Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity[edit]

What? I don't know what you're talking about, sorry. --DrBob (talk) 11:37, 18 February 2008 (CST)

Oh, so I did. Yes, it can stay; I only deleted it before because what was there was thoroughly useless. --DrBob (talk) 11:16, 19 February 2008 (CST)
A lot of the other sysops tend to delete a page if it's worthless. Know that every game that has been published (i.e. high budget) is allowed on StrategyWiki. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 11:28, 19 February 2008 (CST)

Sign your posts please[edit]

It wastes our time if you don't. Thanks, --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 13:01, 18 February 2008 (CST)

Cleanup[edit]

Do not make other people clean up your mess. -- Prod (Talk) 09:49, 21 February 2008 (CST)

We've changed the way we do ratings to be a bit cleaner. Each rating is a separate template where you pass in the specific rating. See my changes here. -- Prod (Talk) 15:11, 7 June 2008 (CDT)
Can you please mark your pages with either wikify or cleanup. DrBob is taking a break and he's usually the one to clean up after you. I don't have the time to fix the pages either, so it would be easier if you tagged them instead of me. -- Prod (Talk)

Transformers[edit]

I don't know enough about the differences, but if the levels are different and they need completely different walkthroughs, then they should be split up into two guides. From the info there, it seems that the Wii/PC/... games are the same, but the PSP (and NDS which already has its own guides) version is different. If it needs to be split, and also has the same name (Transformers: The Game), then it should be split to Transformers: The Game (PSP). -- Prod (Talk) 15:24, 7 June 2008 (CDT)

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team and Red Rescue Team/Getting Started[edit]

Any text that is copied from the guide has to be rewritten; the information contained can stay. -- Prod (Talk) 20:38, 2 July 2008 (CDT)

Bulbapedia pages[edit]

I'd appreciate it if you didn't just copy whole pages from Bulbapedia. We have an amiable relationship with them, and wouldn't want to screw that up by appropriating their content when it would be better to just link to them from our own pages. I realise what you're doing is fully legal, but in this case I just don't think it's appropriate. --DrBob (talk) 09:39, 3 July 2008 (CDT)

The best thing to do is probably rewrite the page completely, basing the new content off the facts in Bulbapedia's page, but not using any of the text from their page verbatim, just as if their page was incompatibly-licensed. --DrBob (talk) 14:04, 4 July 2008 (CDT)
I just remembered that bulbapedia isn't under the GFDL. There are specific requirements for attribution and saying "from bp" doesn't mean anything. You can keep the information itself, but wording, layout, or anything that looks like bulbapedia must be removed. -- Prod (Talk) 22:22, 12 July 2008 (CDT)

Table of Contents[edit]

Use Show preview, especially when editing ToC pages. On normal pages I'm not too concerned, but modifying toc pages that large does have a performance impact. -- Prod (Talk) 20:23, 3 July 2008 (CDT)

Total Annihilation/Strategies[edit]

I don't see the point in subpaging that since the info seems to go quite well with the rest of the page. -- Prod (Talk) 00:46, 7 July 2008 (CDT)

It was tagged split. Vikrant AP 01:10, 7 July 2008 (CDT)
