Samurai Shodown[edit]

Hi there. I'm glad that you're interested in working on SSV. The thing is, there is a particular way to set this guide up, and I'm sure you're a little unfamiliar with it. If you don't mind, I will make a few adjustments to keep the guide inline with the other fighting games that we have. Procyon (Talk) 22:00, 15 January 2008 (CST)

Hi again. Another thing with the Walkthroughs, all of the games in a particular series point to the same walkthrough page. For example, Street Fighter III, Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact, and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike all share the same Walkthrough. So unless there is a major departure from SSV and the rest of the series (and I don't believe that there is), they should share the same Walkthrough in order to be consistent. Anyway, it's not important, and we can reexamine it later on. Procyon (Talk) 22:49, 15 January 2008 (CST)

Hi there from me, too :) Just wanted to let you know that I did some cleanup on the Samurai Shodown V page. I noticed that your character move sets still use the Samurai Shodown 1 character portraits. I haven't changed it yet, since I don't know if you did it intentionally and want to upload the SSV pictures later, just wanted to let you know... Bmuig 12:20, 16 January 2008 (CST)(Talk)

Great job![edit]

Hi there. Just wanted to say that you are doing an amazing job with the SSV moves, and your work is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your efforts. Keep it up! Procyon (Talk) 09:14, 17 January 2008 (CST)

BTW, we're still on the hunt for a much better slash icon than the one that we're using. If you think you know of a good source for one, please let us know. Thanks! Procyon (Talk) 09:16, 17 January 2008 (CST)

Some comments[edit]

Hi WretchedSpawn. I need to get in touch with you to ask for your help. We really appreciate your contributions to Samurai Shodown V. The content that you are adding is fantastic. Unfortunately, some of the adjustments that you are making to the Header Navs are counter constructive to our goal. I realize that, as a new user, you may not completely agree with the arrangement of the nav templates. The fact is, they are under constant scrutiny, and we design them a certain way to make navigation around the site consistent from guide to guide. Therefore, I must ask that you not do the following:

  • Do not add "onepage" to the header nav unless a guide is designed to exactly one page long. Samurai Shodown is a large guide, so "onepage" does not apply.
  • Do not add "Table of Contents" to the Header Nav because it's already there.
  • Do not add "How to play" to the Header Nav because you already redirected it to Walkthrough, and Walkthrough is already on the Nav.

Are you aware of the purpose of the [hide]/[show] button on the left of the Nav? It opens up the Table of Contents, so really, all of the links that you're adding are already in the Nav if you click [show]. Please do me a favor, and leave a note on my talk page and let me know how you're finding your experience here. Thanks! Procyon (Talk) 15:30, 17 January 2008 (CST)

Just curious, you've been so hard at work, but I haven't heard from you at all. Are you upset with me? Or do you simply not like to leave messages. Just curious. Procyon (Talk) 11:04, 19 January 2008 (CST)

Thank you[edit]

Hi WretchedSpawn. I want to thank you very much for taking the time to leave your thoughtful analysis of our current setup on my talk page. I appreciate the effort you put into your explanations. I fully admit that our setup is not perfect, but it's a lot better than what we used to have. You've addressed a lot of the flaws, but you didn't necessarily make suggestions about how you would change things. I wonder how you would change things if you could. The only comment of your's that I take exception to is the "less than stellar" comment, that one was a little hurtful. Nevertheless, I do think you would make a very good addition to our community in terms of addressing problems that you observe with our current methodology. I invite you to bring these issues up on the Community Issues page and get a discussion going with our other layout editors. Anyway, thanks. Procyon (Talk) 23:25, 19 January 2008 (CST)

Pages Layout[edit]

Hi

if you find some time, please check out StrategyWiki talk:Move lists project. I've tried to come up with a proposal that should adress at least some of your concerns, so feel free to comment :)

Header Navs[edit]

Note that this topic is currently being discussed in the community issues.

There is currently one method to use a custom header, however you can achieve it two different ways. 1) to use the |custom=parameter of {{Header Nav}}, or 2) to create a custom nav specifically for the game guide that simplifies the use of the custom parameter of the header nav (see Pokémon/Custom Nav and Pokémon/Attack chart). --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 20:44, 20 January 2008 (CST)

Custom headers[edit]

It's better to use a template, as they're more obviously not actual guide content pages (if, for example, someone stumbles on one). I'd like to discourage the use of guide-specific headers though, as I think there must be a better solution than basically having a different header nav per guide. Although I'm sure you're just experimenting, you might want to make sure you're not committing yourself too heavily to one approach before we've decided on something in CI. --DrBob (talk) 01:20, 22 January 2008 (CST)
