New Vegas takes place 2281, 204 years after the Great War of 2077, which, after several nuclear bombs were dropped, left North America virtually destroyed. However, thanks to a company called Vault-Tec, many people were sheltered in Vaults which shielded them from the blast. After re-emerging, people set up communities again, often in abandoned and partially destroyed towns, having to fight raiders - people who turned savage after the destruction of civilisation - and mutated animals.

Fallout: New Vegas is a role-playing game, sixth in the Fallout series and developed by Obsidian Entertainment. The game is primarily set in a post-apocalyptic American Southwest. It was released in North America on October 19, 2010, on October 22, 2010 in Europe, and November 4, 2010 in Asia.

Fallout: New Vegas begins in the year 2281, set in the Mojave Desert following the Great War. Three entities are vying for control of New Vegas and the surrounding region, including the New California Republic, New Vegas Strip's Mr. House and Caesar's Legion.

The player character is the Courier, who was intercepted, robbed, shot, and left for dead in a shallow grave. They are rescued by a robot named Victor, transporting them to nearby Doc Mitchell, who saves their life. Once recovered, the Courier sets out to find those responsible.
