Final Fantasy Tactics/Controls

Controls of Final Fantasy Tactics are pretty simple. While you will most likely be using all of the face and shoulder buttons, it will all be very easy to memorize.

Menu Controls

Direction Buttons: Navigate through menus. Switches between character skill types and item types in the status screen and the "list" option item screen respectively. O: Confirm X: Cancel T: None S: When in long lists, hold square for "quick scrolls", which let you scroll through items in batches. Select: Help

World Map Controls

Direction Buttons: Move/scroll the map. It will scroll past your view only when the cursor reaches the edge. O: Confirm X: Cancel T: Bring up the menu S: Hold square to move the map view without needing to put the cursor on an edge. Select: Help Start: Bring up the menu L1, R1: Zoom in/zoom out of the world map

Formation Screen Controls

Direction Buttons: Move the cursor from one character to another O: Bring up more information on highlighted character X: Return to world map/battle T: Bring up the menu S: Toggle between header and character info view on or off Select: Help Start: Bring up the menu L1, R1: Move the cursor from one character to another L2, R2: Toggle the character info displayed beneath each character.
