Travel On The Whale

In order to get to Lavalava Island, you need to help the whale. A Fuzzipede is in its stomach and you need to catch it. Use Watt to do so – first make the Fuzzipede run around by using Watt's special powers. Once he's jumping around, watch where he lands. Go to the place that you can reach. When the Fuzzipede jumps on you, it'll decide to fight you. Beat it and you'll be able to travel on the whale.

Lavalava Island

Rescue Kolorodo, then head east until you find the village, and then keep heading east after Kolodoro. Fight the Spear Guys, but watch out for the orientation of their spears - if you try to hammer a horizontal spear, or jump on a vertical spear, you'll get hurt. After looking at the volcano, head back to the village to discover the kids have run away.

Hide And Seek

The first thing you must do here is get Sushie to join your party. After everyone goes crazy, go west from the main part of the village (that's where the shop and the Toad House are), then through the bush-gate (press A button in the middle of them) and then east. Hit the tree a few times and you'll get her down.

Susie allows you to swim in the water. Once in the water, press down again to dive under bridges. Use this new ability to grab the star piece on the north-east island.

Go back west to the start of the jungle, and grab the Power Quake badge from the red box in the centre of this area.

First (Red) Yoshi kid

Go west from the start point in the jungle (travel on Sushie in the water, diving under the bridge). Then, swim to the western island in that part and do the following: open the first bush-gate, fight the blue bush-like creature and press A button on the last bush. The kid will return to the village by himself.

While your here, swim to the other island to upgrade Sushie to super-rank. Note also that travelling east from here will bring you back to the beach, where the whale is.

Second (Green) Yoshi kid

Go west then north from the start point in the jungle. After moving the bushes, swim onto the island that's partially elevated. Use the flower to get up on the elevated area (by jumping into it and pressing Z). Open both bush-gates and jump down the pipe. Use Watt to light up the room. The kid will get out and safely return.

Third (Purple) Yoshi kid

Head west, north, east and south - this takes you back to the starting position but from another side. After going east, it seems impassable - but it isn't. Simply hit the stump, and you'll have a bridge to go over. Then just swim south to the platform and you're there. To get the kid down, just hit the tree. He'll return home.

Fourth (Yellow) Yoshi kid

Go west, north and twice east. There, you'll see the kid surrounded by two Putrid Piranhas. Fight them and the kid will be able to safely return home.

Fifth (Blue) Yoshi kid

Just go west, north and west. Make a bridge out of a stump there (hit it) and talk to the kid. He'll go home, completing this section! Don't miss the underwater Star Piece in this area too.

A present from the Yoshi general

After finding all the kids, you need to talk to the general. You can find him in the first part of the village (where the little islands are located). He'll be standing by the raven statue. Talk to him, and you'll receive the Jade Raven statuette.

Raphael the Raven

Once you received the Jade Raven statuette, go to the jungle to use it. If you already made the bridge to the other side before (by hitting the stump), then just go north. If you didn't, then you have to walk around to get there. You'll see a big statue of Raphael the Raven. Just place the statuette in it (by pressing A button) and a path will show.

As the General warned you, the path through the jungle is hidden. Each section will look like it has no exits, so you'll need to find them:

  1. Move the bushes the in north east corner
  2. Move the blue boxes around until the stone is blown away by water, then move a block to remove the water
  3. Move the bushes in the north east corner, by jumping and pulling the vine to the right of them.
  4. Defeat the three Putrid Piranhas and White Magikoopa.

After beating them and going forth, you'll see a big tree. Enter it and go up until you're on the top floor. Once you meet and talk to the raven, just follow the lead. He'll wait for you each time, until you speak with him.

Deep into Mt. Lavalava

Continue through into Mt. Lavalava. In the first room, quickly jump from each of the small platforms as they will sink the longer you stand on them. On a larger platform, wait until a moving platform makes its way toward you and jump on it. Continue on, jumping quickly from the smaller platforms.

In the next, jump onto the zipline and make your way down. At the bottom, if you go right, you have the opportunity to upgrade a character. It is recommended to upgrade Sushie to Ultra Rank. Continue to the right and find a staircase that leads farther down. Grab onto the next zip line you see. From here, go to the right. On the upper floor, you will use Parakarry to get across the lava. Push the blue boxes one at a time into the lava. Next, go along the lower path to the right and fly across the lava. Go into the next room.

Push the two blocks in a straight line in the lava so that you can cross the lava. Climb the rocks in the back of the room to get to the treasure chest. This will give you the ultra hammer. Destroy the metal box to the right with the hammer and exit the room. In the next room, cross the lava, stay on the lower floor and move to the right. Break the metal box and go into the next room for the Dizzy Stomp badge. Exit the room to the main area.

Go to the right until you see a spring. Jump on it. Break the metal box to the right. Continue right until stopped. Move the blue box to the edge of the cliff and break all of the metal boxes. Continue moving to the right, hit the heart box, go the the left, and go down the stairs. Continue right to the next section.

A hot time with Lava Piranha

Sushie is recommended for this battle at Ultra Rank. The first stage of this battle is easier, as you can make direct contact with Lava Piranha. However, Sushie's first turn should be used to surround Mario with a Sushie's water block ability while Mario should use a Power Bounce (or just plain jump on him).

Escape from Mt. Lavalava

After you beat the Fire Pirahna and collect the 5th Star Spirit, Misstar, the volcano will start to erupt. The room will start to shake and you enter will enter the room to the right. When you go up the steps the lava will start to rise and you will use Bombette to break through the cracked wall. Once you continue forward to a dead end, Kolorado will find the treasure, but it's too high up so you can't reach it, Misstar will then pick Mario and Kolorado up and fly out of the volcano just in time, after this it will go back to Princess Peach in the Castle.

PEACH: The 64 Trivia Quiz-off

Once again, Peach will sneak out of her room to gather information for Mario. Go through the fireplace as usual, and into the main room. Head downstairs, and then through the door on the left hand side.

Here, two Koopa guards will convince you to join in their trivia game. There are 10 questions, and you'll need to press A quicker than the other contenstants to be able to answer a question. Note that on each question, you are presented with two screens. The first says "Question X", then you need to press A to read the question. The press of A starts the 'timer' for the other contestants, so you need to read the question quickly and then press A.

The questions and answers are below. Question 2, 4, and 6 can't be answered - Spiky Tom will answer instead, accidently revealing the location of the next Star Spirit.

  1. Q: What is the name of the boss on LavaLava Island? A: Lava Piranha
