Exiting Connecting Cave takes you to the cliffs of Route 8. From here you can see Cyllage City in the distance, but that is not your next destination. The terrain contains many ledges and large mud pits, making this rocky area quite tricky to navigate. With a whole new section of the Pokedex to fill, you'd better get to catching Pokemon!

Pokedex upgrade![edit]

After exiting Connecting Cave, you will be approached by Sino and Dexio. They will upgrade your Pokedex to register Pokemon from the Coastal Kalos region, which consitutes most of the western part of Kalos. With more than 150 Pokemon in this section as well, there's still a ton of Pokemon for you to catch em all!

Southward and downhill[edit]

From the exit of Connecting Cave, head north past the sign and east to reach a rock, then check it to find a hidden Super Potion. there's a patch of grass nearby as well as a series of one-way ledges to the west. Carefully drop down the ledges so that you can reach a HP Up tucked away in a corner. After dropping past all the ledges, you must pass through a patch of grass, but there's also a trainer fight here.

Across the patch of grass is a large rock. Once you have Strength, you can push the rock into the gap to reach the ledge beyond, which leads to a Water Stone. Otherwise, head up the stairs and continue south through the patch of yellow flowers. There's a trainer waiting for battle at the center of the flowers.

After the flowers, the cliff extends out to the west. You will encounter a trainer as you head for the tip of the cliff. Search the closest corner from the tip of the cliff to get an Escape Rope.

Go south through another patch of grass and you'll reach a wide mud pit. You must hop on the stone pillars jutting out from the mud to make it across. Ignore the first ramp into the mud pit and go south. Take the second ramp you see and head east to reach a small platform with a Leaf Stone. Backtrack to the first ramp and jump on to the stone pillars. Go to the lone east pillar near the north side of the mud pit to be challenged by a Sky Trainer to a Sky Battle. Sky Battles is a limited battle format where you are only allowed to use Pokemon that can fly or levitate. Since you may not have such a Pokemon, you're given the choice to opt out.

After the battle, follow the pillars south and leave the mud pit through any of the three exits. South of here is Ambrette Town!
