Crops are one of the two methods a farmer can use to make money, the other being livestock.
A field can be created in a clear 8x8 square using the PLANT control.
If ground conditions are not right for the selected crop, and icon will appear to indicate the problem.

| Wave icon | Field is too wet | Place more dry/empty irrigation ditches beside the field |
| Skull icon | Field is too dry | Connect irrigation ditches beside the field to a water source, or add more wet irrigation ditches |
| Fertilizer icon | Field is too dry | Spray fertilizer |
| Worm icon | Field is too dry | Spray pesticide |
| Weed icon | Field is too dry | Spray herbicide |
| Diseased corn icon | Field is too dry | Spray fungicide |
Each crop has unique requirements for water, temperature, and growing time.
