Mission map.

The action on the moon got intense. But it was only the beginning of what was to come. The Soviet surprise attack caught us all with our pants down. We didn't even have time to bury our dead.

MISSION OBJECTIVES:

  • Fight off attacking units.
  • Use the Recycler to build defensive turrets.
  • Standby for additional orders.

ENGINEERING REPORT: You will have the Recycler Montana at your disposal. The Montana is capable of gathering and maintaining resources and is equipped to build M173 Badger Turrets.

The Badger is a vital defensive unit with about a 150 meter fire radius and is best suited for perimeter defenses. When in position, it immobilizes and deploys its STAB hooks (Stabilized Terrain Adapting Base). The STAB secures the low-weight turret into the terrain and allows it to fire accurately unaffected by weapon kick back. The Badger can be repositioned when needed, but it is unable to fire when its STAB is not deployed.

Walkthrough[edit]

A firing line of four badgers annihilate flankers.

General Collins will welcome you to Eagle's Nest 1 just in time for two Soviet Flankers to attack the command tower directly in front of you. They will attack the command tower at the expense of their own safety, so rush forward and destroy both of them using your AT-Stabber. Linking your AT-Stabber with your Minigun will allow you to tear through them much faster.

New Enemy: Czar
The Czar is equivalent to your Grizzly tank, firing the same weapons. It's considerably tougher than a Flanker, but is still no match for a human pilot.

After destroying these two targets, the NSDF Recycler Montana will spawn. Order it to the nearest geyser and have it start constructing turrets. Build four turrets to accomplish the second mission objective.

Attacks will mostly be focused on the command tower, and a force of three to four turrets should be enough to hold off anything the Soviets throw at you. Any extras you build should protect your recycler. If you have any downtime, proceed past the command tower and into a small crater with four CCA turrets in it. Destroy these turrets if possible to make progress easier in the next phase of the mission.

This APC attack can cost you your recycler.
New Enemy: APC
Extremely durable, but is a one-trick pony. Deploys five infantry to attack, then retreats. The infantry hit hard, but can be squished by a vehicle, or mown down by any weapon.

Just before the fourth wave, you'll receive reinforcements in the form of a Grizzly and a Razor. When they reach the solar arrays, they'll fall under your command. You'll need their help in the second phase of the mission.

The fourth wave, spawning to the south, consists of a single Flanker, a Czar, and an APC. The APC is a considerable threat as it makes a beeline for your recycler if it is able to. Losing the recycler will cost you the mission, and the APC has a lot of health. You can either destroy the APC itself before it deploys its payload of infantry, or run over all five infantry it deploys to attack your APC. Once it deploys its infantry, it will retreat to a hidden Soviet barracks in the southeast corner of the map. Destroy the APC if possible, but don't worry about subsequent attacks. Ignore the hidden barracks - it exists simply as a retreat area for Soviet pilots and the APC.

After the APC attack, the second phase of the mission begins. The CCA lands a recycler and begins a huge concerted attack that you have no hope of defending. Collins orders a full evacuation of Eagle's Nest 1.

Enemy turrets set up near the launch pad. Stop them before they set up.

Two APCs will spawn in the base, and make a beeline for the launch pad to the north. At this point, Eagle's Nest 1 and the Recycler are no longer mission objectives - all that remains is to escort the two APCs to the launch pad. If either APC is destroyed, the mission is failed. However, the APCs are very durable and can withstand attacks - for a short while. Task your Razor and Grizzly to defend the transports. Around the same time, a large group of CCA units attack Eagle's Nest 1, possibly drawing your Razor and Grizzly away from the transports. Ignore Eagle's Nest 1.

New Enemy: Pak
Equivalent to your badger tanks. Destroy them while moving, out-strafe them, or use your mortar over an obstacle. Can shred through a transport if the transport is in front.

The path is short, but APCs are somewhat sluggish. You can try moving your Badgers to create a turret bridge to the launch pad and the base to help, and if you can set up a perimeter around the launch pad itself, that can help your wingmen. Scout the area ahead on your own. If you haven't destroyed the four turrets in the crater earlier, they will attempt to camp the launch pad as the APCs move in. Fighting four turrets in addition to several Flankers and Czars may be too much of a challenge, so try to destroy the turrets while they're moving - or otherwise, try to destroy them while they're in the crater.

Once all the transports make it to the launch pad, the mission is complete.
