These games are from the Petz game series, in which you have a certain type of pet depending on which game it is. In a vast majority of the games they made, you are caring for the animal, but the exeption being Petz: Catz 2 and Petz: Dogz 2, where you control the cat or dog and is more of an adventure game.

There is a series of Catz and Dogz games which was released from 1995, these games are only for the PC and are not counted as part of this series.
