==Types of Enhancements==
Enhancements are added to existing powers, making them more powerful. There are several different types of enhancements, but only three real ranks to them (with a few exceptions, i.e. Hamidon Enhancements). They come in Training (TO) (useable by any hero), Dual Origin (DO) (usable by heroes of two different origins, i.e. Science and Technology), and Single Origin (SO) (usable only by heroes of one specific origin).
There are five known types of enhancements in City of Heroes: Training Enhancements (TO), Dual Origin Enhancements (DO), Single Origin Enhancements (SO), Trial Reward Enhancements (TR), and Hamidon Enhancements (HO).

Enhancements are broken down into two categories: offensive and defensive. Offensive enhancements offer a greater bonus than defensive enhancements.

==Effect of Level==
[[City of Heroes/Enhancements/Math|Calculating Enhancement Bonuses]]
The level of the enhancement does not directly affect the benefit that enhancement. However, the level of the enhancement relative to the level of the hero does. An enhancement that is one level higher than the hero using it has a +10% bonus to the enhancement's base bonus. A level below is -10%. This works up to three levels. Example: a level 35 enhancement used by a level 32 hero has a 42.9% bonus.
<!-- how did you get 42.9%? -->
<math>Total Bonus = Enhancement Bonus * 1 + ((Enhancement Level - Hero Level) * 10%)</math>

When calculating the strenght of a power when it's enhanced, use the following formula for damage, defense, resistance, buff, or debuff type powers
[[City of Heroes/Enhancements/Hamidon|Types of Hamidon Enhancements]]

<math>Power Strength = Base Strength * (1 + (Total Bonus * Number Of Enhancements))</math>

When calculating for a recharge, interruption reduction, or other similar power, use:

<math>Recharge Time = Base Recharge Time \ (1 + (Total Bonus * Number Of Enhancements))</math>
<!-- is that supposed to be "Base Recharge Time * (1 + ..."? -->

These formulas basically mean every recharge reduction SO slotted in a power reduces the power's recharge time by 25%.
