The game will start with the opening cutscene. When the cutscene is over, you can talk to the other three chocobos there to get to know them a little better or you could just go straight to Shirma, who will start reading "The Adamantoise and the Cactuar" until Croma interrupts her. After the cutscene is over, go to the book. Getting the lock unlocked is simple, just slide the tiles with the red circles on them to match their position on the above diagram. After the cutscene, go to the card Bebuzzu spit out and the card will transform into Chubby. Go to the right and there will be another chocobo card hanging from a balloon, though it'll be out of reach. Head right some more until you see a red picture book. When you're in the book, you'll only have the choice of Story Time. After you read or skip the prologue, a new option will be available- Trial Mode.

All you have to do for now is finish within 5 minutes, which shouldn't be too difficult, and an epilogue will be unlocked. After either reading or skipping the prologue, a cactuar will emerge from the book and pop the balloon the chocobo card is hanging from. Head over to the chocobo card and the card will transform into Gazzy. Irma will soon come and challenge Chocobo to race a jailbird. Go to the book again and battle mode should be available. The rules are the same for battle mode, just this time you have to race the jailbird to the top. After the cutscene, go outside and go south until you find a card. Pick it up and go right until you reach the central square. A pink chocobo will show up. Follow it north and you'll see the pink chocobo again, this time with a blue chocobo. Go back south to the Central Square and Croma will show up and tell you that Chubby collapsed.
