This page needs images of controls for the Sega Saturn from the controller buttons category to make learning the controls easier. If a set of controller button images is available for this system, please add them. If a set of controller images isn't available, it might need to be brought up on StrategyWiki:Staff lounge.

Below are the controls for the PlayStation, Sega Saturn, PC, and Nintendo DS versions of Resident Evil; the interface is the same for all versions of the game.

PlayStation controls

  • Up dpad Move character forward
  • Down dpad Move character backwards
  • Left dpad Turn character left
  • Right dpad Turn character right
  • Start button Inventory screen
  • Start button + Select button Options menu
  • L1 button No use
  • L2 button No use
  • R1 button Aim current weapon
  • R2 button No use
  • Circle button No use
  • Cross button Action (open doors, shoot, use item, etc.)
  • Square button Run (hold square button down with d-pad direction to run in that direction)
  • Triangle button Cancel (exit menus, exit current files, etc.)

Sega Saturn controls

  • Template:SegaSaturn: Move character forward
  • D-PAD DOWN: Move character backwards
  • D-PAD LEFT: Turn character left
  • D-PAD RIGHT: Turn character right
  • START: Inventory Screen
  • START + SELECT: Options menu
  • L BUTTON: No use
  • R BUTTON: Aim current weapon
  • A BUTTON: Cancel (exit menus, exit current files, etc.)
  • B BUTTON: Action (open doors, shoot, use item, etc.)
  • C BUTTON: Run (hold C button down with d-pad direction to run in that direction)
  • X BUTTON: No use
  • Y BUTTON: No use
  • Z BUTTON: No use

PC keymaps

  •  ↑  Move character forward
  •  ↓  Move character backwards
  • Turn character left
  • Turn character right
  •  X  or  3  Aim current weapon
  •  C  or  1  Action (open doors, shoot, use item, etc.)
  •  V  or  2  Run (hold square button down with d-pad direction to run in that direction)

Rebirth mode:

  • Stylus button Tapping the touchscreen with the stylus will cause quick jabs while sliding the stylus across the touchscreen will cause slashes in that direction.
