Concrete mixers and pumps are two sides of the same coin - concrete mixers carry cement, while pumps are typically used to apply it to a surface.

Mixers are trucks equipped with a spinning drum to carry cement. Aside from just carrying cement, they can also pour concrete out the chute, which is typically used for filling a concrete pump, a concrete bucket, or applying concrete directly onto the target surface (if you can drive over it). Mixers are also equipped with a chute extension that can be activated for more precision pouring.

Concrete pumps, unlike mixers, have an extremely low capacity. Instead, pumps are equipped with an extendable arm with a pipe on the end to apply concrete from above. This is most useful when applying concrete to areas inaccessible by truck, such as at the bottom of a pit, the walls or stairs of a building, or the supports of a bridge.

You Cannot Waste Concrete

Concrete mixers and pumps do NOT expend concrete simply by pouring, only successfully applying concrete will consume it. This is to prevent "missed" concrete from actively punishing players. It is therefore possible to use a concrete mixer to pour concrete onto a road indefinitely.

To use a mixer, the vehicle must be deployed and the rear hopper opened. It is best to then move the main boom up and away from the rear, where you can then park a concrete mixer to fill the pump. If positioned properly, the concrete mixer will continue to pour concrete into the pump even when you leave it. The angle needed for this is somewhat strict; trying to pour concrete into the pump with the truck 90 degrees to the side will have the pouring shut off when you exit the mixer.

Some concrete mixers have pumps attached, resulting in a combination mixer/pump vehicle. The reach on these pumps is rather short compared to the dedicated pumps, but can be a good purchase to fulfill multiple roles early game until you need a dedicated vehicle.

Official Description: Concrete mixers transport large quantities of concrete from the gravel plant to construction sites. The fresh concrete is poured in via a hopper at the rear and kept permanently flowing in the rotating drum. Concrete mixers are essential for filling other construction machines, such as concrete pumps or concrete buckets. They can also be used alone for simple concrete work on the ground. The extendable chute extension allows flexible pouring in hard to reach places.

The concrete pump is used for pouring larger areas. For concrete pouring, it must be permanently filled at the back by a concrete mixer. The concrete is pressed upwards via a control system inside. Via five booms, even high floors can be easily reached.

The concrete mixer pump in driving mode suitable for transporting fresh concrete between the gravel works and the construction site like a conventional concrete mixer. On the other hand, in function mode it can be used as a concrete pump to pour hard to reach concrete formworks. You can get fresh concrete at the gravel plant.

Concrete Mixers/Pumps

These vehicles are capable of pouring using their onboard pump while still carrying a respectable amount of concrete. The concrete pump and the container are completely separate, however, so pouring must be turned on in order for the pumping section of the vehicle to work. The hopper for the pump to receive concrete is usually attached directly to the rear of the vehicle, making it difficult to pour concrete normally or to feed a dedicated concrete pump using this vehicle.
