MB Last Day Intro.png

Before this event, you will be treated to a seventh short cutscene featuring Johnny, which explains that you shall have to alternate pressing the first and third buttons to charge up your Numan's multilayered power meter (first layer: yellow, second layer: green, third layer: blue, fourth layer, blue, fifth layer: orange), then press the second button to make him (or her, in the case of Makoto and Sophia) butt-stamp into the ground and create a huge crack in it.

Qualify: 200m00
Record: H.S, 220m00
Try: 1 time

Once the camera's zoomed in on your (and the second player's, or the randomly-generated CPU-controlled if there is only one or three players) Numan, who have those arrows with the text "1P" and "2P" (or "CPU") on them above them on the platform of a hot-air balloon which has the game's name on it, the text "Ready...Go!" will appear on the screen, as the two barriers in front of them slide away, and both Numans will jump off the platform; you will then have to alternate pressing the first and third buttons to charge up your Numan's "multilayered" power meter (first layer: yellow, second layer: green, third layer: blue, fourth layer, blue, fifth layer: orange), then press the second button, to make your Numan butt-stamp into the ground (the game will calculate the percentage of his, or her in the case of Makoto and Sophia, attack, and if you'd pushed the second button just before your Numan hit the ground the text "NICE!" will appear on the screen) - the camera will then scroll downwards, as both Numans' butt-stamps create cracks in the ground (the Hiragana text Ato あと will again be displayed, but this time in the centre of the screen, with the remaining distance that your Numan's crack needs to travel below it). Once the cracks have stopped (you may see Taizo Hori and his enemies making cameos in 8-bit form tunnelling through the ground), both Numans' cracking distances will fly into view from the left and right sides of the screen; the camera shall then scroll back up to the surface as both Numans show off for the crowd for a fifteenth and last time if their cracking distance was more than 200m00. If your cracking distance was more than 220m00 the text "WORLD RECORD" will appear on the screen and you'll have thirty seconds to enter your initials by using the first and third buttons to select the letters then pressing the second button to confirm your choice - and if there are only one or two players, the game will proceed to the "Exhibition Match", but if not, the game will proceed to a second Ground Spike event before doing so. Also, if you can't press the second button quickly enough your Numan will just land on the ground as the text "YEOUCH!" appears on the screen and the text "FAULT!" shall then come down into view from the top of the screen as the attempt is counted as such, and costs your Numan the game - and you'll be in for a surprise when the game proceeds to the "Exhibition Match".

The three-script text of Ekishibijonmacchi zen taikai no chanpion tōjō!! (エキシビジョンマッチ前大会のチャンピオン登場!!) will now appear at the top of the screen, and Sharon Areru (from the original Numan Athletics) will will run into view from the left side of the screen, as an arrow pointing to the right and that Kanji/Hiragana text Yūshō shita anata ha kono musume ni katsu koto ga dekiru ka?! (優勝したあなたはこの娘に勝つことができるか?!) appear to her left, and a second Kanji/Hiragana text Chōsen-ken ha anata ni arimasu (挑戦権はあなたにあります) flies into view from the left side of the screen below her; you will then be treated to the "Maximum Speed" cutscene featuring Johnny again and have to play a second "Maximum Speed" race against her!

SHORT COURSE!

Once your Numan and Sharon have reappeared on the screen (and the two arrows with the text "1P" and "CPU" have flown into view from the right side of the screen) the platforms they're standing on will move forward towards the start line and they will take their positions as the camera pans to the right; once the text "Ready...Go!" appears on the screen, you'll again have to alternate pressing the first and third buttons to make your Numan run to the right (but Sharon will immediately disappear, off that right side of the screen). Again, once your Numan has passed through the tunnel, he (or she, in the case of Makoto and Sophia) shall speed up - and once he (or she, in the case of Makoto and Sophia) has passed that finishing line, he (or she, in the case of Makoto and Sophia) will show off for the crowd for a sixteenth and extra time if he (or she, in the case of Makoto and Sophia) managed to finish it in less than 5.75 seconds (which is what Sharon shall always finish it in). It's also worth noting that Sharon now looks like this (in 8192 colours): MB Sharon Areru.gif

The two comperes, George Kuwabara and Nancy Komoriya, shall then come into view from the left and right sides of the screen as the Kanji text Saishū kekkya happyō (最終結果発表) comes down into view from the top of the screen; the Numans in fourth, third, and second position shall then come up on their podiums (regardless of whether they were player- or CPU-controlled), and the Numan in first position shall then come up on his (or her, in the case of Makoto and Sophia) podium, and show off for the crowd, for a seventeenth (and second extra) time. Fireworks shall then explode in the background - and the screen will then fade out as the three-script text of Kuria omedetō!! The credits shall then begin to roll:

After the credits have finished, you will be treated to a cutscene, which is specific to your Numan and displays one of seven different three-script texts at the bottom of the screen; once it's finished, the text "presented by NAMCO®" will appear on the screen, and the game will proceed to the results screen. If any of the players were "retired" and the game continued without them, the fields for the events after the one they lost in will appear blank, and if there were less than four players, the nonexistent players' fields will also appear blank - and after a few seconds the game will then go back into attract mode.
