Square 31[edit]

NGQ Saru.png

Welcome to the game (if you are Player 3). At the start of this square, the Katakana/Kanji text Noruma 3-mon (ノルマ3問) will come up into view from the bottom of the screen, as the Katakana/Hiragana text Saru ga awa reta! (サルがあわれた!) appears at the top of the screen; the Kanji text Dai 1-mon (第1問) will then appear on the screen as the Saru poses his first question and the timers on both sides of the screen start counting down. Once you answer three questions correctly the three-script text "Ugyāā!" Saru wo taoshita! (「うぎゃあああーっ!」 サルを倒した!) will appear at the top of the screen as the Saru explodes - and once he has landed, two cherubs will fly into view from the left and right sides of the screen as the Katakana text Noruma kuria! (ノルマクリア!) comes up into view from the bottom of the screen. The screen will then fade back to the shot of the island, as the three-script text Botan wo oshite, ikisaki wo eran kudasai. (ボタンを押して、行き先を選んください.) appears at the top of the screen and Squares 25 & 32 start flashing in turn; once you press any of the Answer Buttons while the square you want to move to flashes, Koseibutsugakusha will move to it and they are both picture stages.

However, if you are Player 1, 2, or 4, and move on to this square (if you can reach it), the following three-script text shall appear at the top of the screen:

古生物学者/地底人まこととの対決! (Koseibutsugakusha/Chisokojin Makoto to no taiketsu!)

この島で、わたし世界一貴重な (Kono shima de, watashi sekaīchi kichōna)
化右を発掘するのだ. (Ka migi wo hakkutsu suru noda.)

邪魔する奴は、やっつけてやる! (Jama suru yatsu ha, yattsukete yaru!)

Koseibutsugakusha, or Chisokojin Makoto if no 3P, will then walk over to your character and initiate a punch-up with him, or her if 2P, for a special quiz:

NGQ Koseibutsugakusha VS.png
NGQ Chisokojin Makoto VS.png
古生物学者/地底人まことがあわれた! (Koseibutsugakusha/Chisokojin Makoto ga awa reta!)

「わたしとキーワード問題で ("Watashi to kīwādo mondai de)
勝負だ!」 (Shōbuda!")
このあとの8問からは、 (Kono ato no 8-mon kara ha,)
ある言葉が連想できます. (Aru kotoba ga rensō dekimasu.)
8問答えたあとで、 (8-mon kotaeta ato de,)

その言葉を当ててください. (Sono kotoba wo atete kudasai.)

The Kanji text Dai 1-mon (第1問) will now appear on the screen, as Koseibutsugakusha (or Chisokojin Makoto) poses his first question and the timers on both sides of the screen start their counting down; once you answer eight questions correctly, he shall speak the three-script text of "Deha, iyoiyo kīwādo no shiki toida!" (「では、いよいよキーワードの識問だ!」) and "Kīwādo wo ateru made ha watashi wo taosenai zo!" (「キーワードを当てるまではわたしを倒せないぞ!」), before posing a final question. Once you have answered it correctly the three-script text of "Ugyāā!" Koseibutsugakusha/Chisokojin Makoto wo taoshita! (「うぎゃあああーっ!」 古生物学者/地底人まことを倒した!) will appear, at the top of the screen, as he explodes - and once he has landed, two cherubs fly into view from the left and right sides of the screen, as the Katakana text Noruma kuria! (ノルマクリア!) comes up into view from the bottom of the screen. If opponent was Koseibutsugakusha, this cutscene (which is much like those of Kufū and Hana No Sei in that it depicts his death) will follow:

古生物学者 「ム、無念...グフッ」 (Koseibutsugakusha "Mu, munen...gufu")

古生物学者は息絶えた. (Koseibutsugakusha ha iki taeta.)
古生物学者の発掘した化右は、 (Koseibutsugakusha no hakkutsu shita-ka migi ha,)

風化して土に還るだろう. (Fūka shite tsuchi ni kaerudarō.)
NGQ Koseibutsugakusha Death Cutscene 1.png
化右に混じって、寄妙な生物の (Ka migi ni majitte, yadoriki myōna seibutsu no)
骨がある. (Hone ga aru.)
NGQ Koseibutsugakusha Death Cutscene 2.png
他の化右にくらべて、 (Hoka no-ka migi ni kurabete,)
新しいもののように見える. (Atarashī mono no yō ni mieru.)
NGQ Koseibutsugakusha Death Cutscene 3.png

However, if it was Chisokojin Makoto in the case of there being no third player, this cutscene will follow (like those of Bob and Rinda, it depicts his death):

地底人まこと「300年のいにしえよ (Chisokojin Makoto "300-nen no inishie yo)

りゲゲゲ...」 (Ri gegege...")
どうやらこれしあ言葉を知らない (Dōyara kore shi a kotoba wo shiranai)

ようだ. (Yōda.)
NGQ Chisokojin Makoto Death Cutscene 1.png
突然、地響きとともに地中から (Totsuzen, jihibiki to tomoni chichū kara)

巨大な手が突き右され、(Kyodaina te ga tsuki migi sa re,)
地底人まことの死体を (Chisokojin Makoto no shitai wo)

さらっていく. (Saratte iku.)
NGQ Chisokojin Makoto Death Cutscene 2.png
地面の底から、なにかを噛みくだく (Jimen no soko kara, nani ka wo kamikudaku)

ぽりぽりという音が響いた. (Pori pori to iu oto ga hibīta.)
「戦士としては失格だが、食い物と ("Senshi to shite ha shikkakudaga, kuimono to)

してはうまい」地中の声が言った. (Shite ha umai" chichū no koe ga itta.)
NGQ Chisokojin Makoto Death Cutscene 3.png

Any squares conquered by Koseibutsugakusha (or Chisokojin Makoto) during his time on the island will now revert to normal and the game will continue.

Square 32: E No Mondai (絵の問題)[edit]

NGQ Flamingo.png

At the start of this square, the Katakana/Kanji text of Noruma 5-mon (ノルマ5問) shall come up into view from the bottom of the screen for what could be the eleventh time as the Katakana/Hiragana text Furamingo ga awa reta! (フラミンゴがあわれた!) appears (up at the top of the screen); the Kanji text Dai 1-mon (第1問) shall now appear on the screen, as the Flamingo poses his first (sliding picture) question and the timers on both sides of the screen start counting down. Once you have answered five questions correctly the three-script text of "Ugyāā!" Furamingo wo taoshita! (「うぎゃあああーっ!」 フラミンゴを倒した!) will appear at the top of the screen as the Flamingo explodes - and once he lands, two cherubs will fly into view from the left and right sides of the screen, as the Katakana text of Noruma kuria! (ノルマクリア!) comes up into view from the bottom of the screen. The screen will then fade back to the shot of the island, as that three-script text Botan wo oshite, ikisaki wo eran kudasai. (ボタンを押して、行き先を選んください.) appears at the top of the screen and Squares 26 and 33 start flashing in turn; once you have pushed any of the Answer Buttons while the square you want to move to is flashing your character will move to it. Square 33 is also a 2-Taku (2択) stage, where all the questions will only have two possible answers (as opposed to four).

Square 33: 2-Taku (択)[edit]

NGQ Gorilla.png

At the start of this square, the Katakana/Kanji text of Noruma 5-mon (ノルマ5問) shall come up into view from the bottom of the screen, for what could be the twelfth time as the Katakana/Hiragana text Gorira ga awa reta! (ゴリラがあわれた!) appears (up at the top of the screen); the Kanji text Dai 1-mon (第1問) will now appear on the screen as the Gorilla poses his first question and the timers on both sides of the screen start counting down. Once you have answered five questions correctly, that three-script text of "Ugyāā!" Gorira wo taoshita! (「うぎゃあああーっ!」 ゴリラを倒した!) will appear at the top of the screen as the Gorilla explodes - and once he has landed, two cherubs will fly into view from the left and right sides of the screen as the Katakana text of Noruma kuria! (ノルマクリア!) comes up into view from the bottom of the screen. The screen will then fade out to the shot of the island as the three-script text Botan wo oshite, ikisaki wo eran kudasai. (ボタンを押して、行き先を選んください) appears at the top of the screen and Squares 27 & 34 start flashing in turn; once you have pushed any of the four Answer Buttons while the square you that want to move on to is flashing, your character will move on to it.

Square 34[edit]

NGQ Tsuchibuta.png

At the start of this square, the Katakana/Kanji text Noruma 6-mon (ノルマ6問) shall come up into view from the bottom of the screen (for the fifth time) as the Katakana/Hiragana text Tsuchibuta ga awa reta! (ツチブタがあわれた!) appears, up at the top of the screen; the Kanji text Dai 1-mon (第1問) will now appear on the screen, as the Tsuchibuta poses his first question, and the timers on both sides of the screen start counting down. Once you've answered six questions correctly, the three-script text of "Ugyāā!" Tsuchibuta wo taoshita! (「うぎゃあああーっ!」 ツチブタを倒した!) shall appear up at the top of the screen, as the Tsuchibuta explodes - and once he has landed (and splattered the camera), two cherubs shall fly into view from the left and right sides of the screen, as the Katakana text of Noruma kuria! (ノルマクリア!) comes up into view from the bottom of the screen. The screen shall then fade out to the shot of the island as the three-script text of Botan wo oshite, ikisaki wo eran kudasai. (ボタンを押して、行き先を選んください.) appears up at the top of the screen and Squares 28 & 35 start flashing in turn; once you press any of the Answer Buttons while the square you that want to move to is flashing, your character will move to it. Square 35 is also a picture stage (and the last one for the island, if you are playing them for the order this page is listing them).

Square 35: E No Mondai (絵の問題)[edit]

NGQ Unagi.png

At the start of this square, the Katakana/Kanji text Noruma 6-mon (ノルマ6問) shall come up into view from the bottom of the screen for the sixth time, as the Katakana/Hiragana text Unagi ga awa reta! (ウナギがあわれた!) appears at the top of the screen; the Kanji text Dai 1-mon (第1問) will now appear on the screen, as the Unagi poses his first ("fifteen-puzzle" picture) question and the timers on both sides of the screen start counting down. Once you have answered six questions correctly, the three-script text of "Ugyāā!" Unagi wo taoshita! (「うぎゃあああーっ!」 ウナギを倒した!) shall appear up at the top of the screen (as that Unagi explodes) - and once he has landed, two cherubs shall fly into view from the left and right sides of the screen, as the Katakana text of Noruma kuria! (ノルマクリア!) comes up into view from the bottom of the screen. The screen will now fade back out to the shot of the island, as the three-script text of Botan wo oshite, ikisaki wo eran kudasai. (ボタンを押して、行き先を選んください.) appears up at the top of the screen, and Squares 29 & 36 start flashing in turn; once you press any of the Answer Buttons while the square you that want to move to is flashing, your character will move to it - however, if you're Player 1, 2, or 3, moving down onto Square 36 invokes a special type of quiz from Nōfu (or Chisokojin Pochi, if there is no Player 4).

Square 36[edit]

NGQ Saru.png

Welcome to the game (if you are Player 4). (ボタンを押して、行き先を選んください.) appears at the top of the screen and Squares 30 & 35 start flashing in turn; once you have pressed any of the Answer Buttons while the square that you wish to move to is flashing, Nōfu will move to it and they are both picture stages.

However, if you are Player 1, 2, or 3 and move on to this square (if you can reach it), the following three-script text shall appear at the top of the screen:

農夫/地底人ポチとの対決! (Nōfu/Chisokojin Pochi to no taiketsu!)

この島を、わたしの世界一栄養豊富 (Kono shima wo, watashi no sekaīchi eiyō hōfu)
な野葉の栽培するのだ. (Na no ha no saibai suru noda.)

邪魔する奴は、やっつけてやる! (Jama suru yatsu ha, yattsukete yaru!)

Nōfu (or Chisokojin Pochi, if there's no 4P) will then walk over to your character and get into a punch-up with him (or her, if you're 2P) for a special quiz:

NGQ Nofu VS.png
NGQ Chisokojin Pochi VS.png
農夫/地底人ポチがあわれた! (Nōfu/Chisokojin Pochi ga awa reta!)

「わたしとキーワード問題で ("Watashi to kīwādo mondai de)

このあとの8問からは、 (Kono ato no 8-mon kara ha,)
ある言葉が連想できます. (Aru kotoba ga rensō dekimasu.)
8問答えたあとで、 (8-mon kotaeta ato de,)

その言葉を当ててください. (Sono kotoba wo atete kudasai.)

The Kanji text Dai 1-mon (第1問) will now appear on the screen, as Nōfu or Chisokojin Pochi poses his first question and the timers on both sides of the screen begin their counting down; once you have answered eight questions correctly, he will speak the three-script text of "Deha, iyoiyo kīwādo no shiki toida!" (「では、いよいよキーワードの識問だ!」), then "Kīwādo wo ateru made ha watashi wo taosenai zo!" (「キーワードを当てるまではわたしを倒せないぞ!」) before posing a final question. Once you have answered it correctly, the three-script text of "Ugyāā!" Nōfu/Chisokojin Pochi wo taoshita! (「うぎゃあああーっ!」 農夫/地底人ポチを倒した!) shall appear, at the top of the screen, as he explodes - and, once he has landed, two cherubs fly into view from the left and right sides of the screen, as that Katakana text Noruma kuria! (ノルマクリア!) comes up into view, from the bottom of the screen. If opponent was Nōfu (not Chisokojin Pochi), this cutscene (which is like those of Kufū, Hana No Sei, and Koseibutsugakusha, in that it depicts his death) will follow:

農夫 「ム、無念...バタッ」 (Nōfu "Mu, munen...bata")
農夫は息絶えた. (Nōfu ha iki taeta.)
NGQ Nofu Death Cutscene 1.png
農夫の富した畑は、(Nōfu no tomi shita hata ha,)

よく見ると、野菜にあやしげな (Yokumiruto, yasai ni aya shige na)
歯型がついている. (Hagata ga tsuite iru.)
NGQ Nofu Death Cutscene 3.png

But if your opponent was Chisokojin Pochi (in the case of there not being a fourth player), this cutscene will follow (for the last time, it depicts his death):

地底人ポチ「300年のいにしえよ (Chisokojin Pochi "300-nen no inishie yo)

りゲゲゲ...」 (Ri gegege...")
どうやらこれしあ言葉を知らない (Dōyara kore shi a kotoba wo shiranai)

NGQ Chisokojin Pochi Death Cutscene 1.png
突然、地盤を突を破って巨大な顔が (Totsuzen, jiban wo totsu wo yabutte kyodaina kao ga)

あらわれたがと思うと、 (Arawa retaga to omō to,)
地底人ポチの死体を (Chisokojin Pochi no shitai wo)
地中に引きずり込んだ. (Chichū ni hikizurikonda.)
NGQ Chisokojin Pochi Death Cutscene 2.png

島を揺るがすほどの巨大なげっぷの (Shima wo yurugasu hodo no kyodaina geppu no)

音が、あたりに響いた. (Oto ga, atari ni hibīta.)

「失礼」 地中の声が詫びた. ("Shitsurei" chichū no koe ga wabita.)
NGQ Chisokojin Pochi Death Cutscene 3.png

Any squares conquered by Nōfu (or Chisokojin Pochi) during his time on the island will now revert back to their original state and the game will continue; once you have conquered all thirty-six squares of the island, the enormous Chitei Daimaō will emerge from under the island for the first time since 1693.

Chitei Daimaō (地底大魔王)[edit]

The Kanji text Dai 1-mon (第1問) will then appear on screen, as Chitei Daimaō poses his first question and the timers on both sides of the screen begin counting down; once you have answered eight questions correctly he will speak the three-script text of "Deha, iyoiyo kīwādo no shiki toida!" (「では、いよいよキーワードの識問だ!」), and then, "Kīwādo wo ateru made ha watashi wo taosenai zo!" (「キーワードを当てるまではわたしを倒せないぞ!」), before posing a ninth question. Once you have answered it (correctly), the Hiragana text of "Ugyāā!" (「うぎゃあああーっ!) shall appear at the top of the screen, as he changes colour from green to white - and he shall then speak the following three-script text (he has a total of three phases before he is defeated):

NGQ Chitei Daimao VS 2.png

(「では、いよいよキーワードの識問だ!」), and then, "Kīwādo wo ateru made ha watashi wo taosenai zo!" (「キーワードを当てるまではわたしを倒せないぞ!」), before posing a ninth question. Once you have answered it (correctly), the Hiragana text of "Ugyāā!" (「うぎゃあああーっ!) shall appear at the top of the screen, as he changes colour, from white to purple - and he shall then speak the following three-script text (he now has one more phase before he is defeated):

NGQ Chitei Daimao VS 3.png

Once you have answered it correctly, the three-script text "Ugyāā!" Chitei Daimaō wo taoshita! (「うぎゃあああーっ!」 地底大魔王を倒した!) shall appear at the top of the screen as Chitei Daimaō explodes - and once he's landed, two cherubs will fly into view from the left and right sides of the screen, as the Katakana text Noruma kuria! (ノルマクリア!) comes up into view from the bottom of the screen. You can now sit back to enjoy your character's ending (like Ward, Emilio, Charles, and Karl from Exvania, which also runs on Namco NA-1 hardware, each one has their own ending):

After the credits have finished, the game will go into "high-score" mode; your score will most likely be the highest upon the cabinet to date so you should enter your name (up to eight characters) at the top of the table with pride (by using Answer Buttons 1 and 2 to go through the characters, Answer Button 3 for spaces, and Answer Button 4 to select them). The text "GAME OVER" will then appear on the screen, and the game will go back into attract mode.
