Tavern keepers randomly give advices after the Stranger purchased some drinks. They may give useful hints (see sections below).

Pilgrimage quests[edit]
The text is listed starting from Lord British's lands and going west. In fact, the Stranger starts the game in Lord British's Lands, and the object of the first quest is in the first land met traveling west.

Time travel quest[edit]

Thou had best know that over 1000 years ago, Mondain the Wizard tried to create an evil gem. With this gem, he would have been immortal and could not be defeated. The quest of Ultima is to traverse the lands in search of a time machine. Upon finding such a device, thou should go back in time to the days when Mondain tried to create the evil gem and destroy him![1] | ||

- ↑ Mondain was actually slain 1000 years ago, when the Stranger actually traveled back in time. Thus, correction to verbs became necessary.
