In this section, the game's optional battlefields are listed. They are generally quite simple to overcome. Your real goal here is to find and collect all the items there, some of which are very valuable. The conditions for victory or defeat are always the same, namely defeating all enemies and death of the hero respectively.

Optional Battles[edit]

To access these optional battlefields, there are no particular requirements, nor do you need to be in possession of specific items.

Tehapi Dunes[edit]

Basic reward: 7.000 G
Items:

  • Map-6 - V10, H17 (chest)
  • Bugeyes (acessory) - V13, H20 (hidden)
  • Zebra (shield) - V23, H15 (chest)
  • L-vase (accessory) - V18, H12 (hidden)

If you enter this battlefield a second time, it will be completely different and much larger (but not more difficult). Basically, it's a huge battlefield with a hill in the center. There aren't many enemies and they shouldn't bother you. The only one you need to watch out for is an archer at the top of the hill, who can cause good damage. The only wizard present instead can only heal enemy units. There are four items to collect, two at the top of the hill and two in chests along the slopes. Two of them are of great value: Zebra shield (it contains the Re-animator spell) and Map-6.

Mt Daboll[edit]

Basic reward: 7.500 G
Items:

  • Urn (special weapon) - V0, H2 (chest)
  • I-boom (throwing weapon) - V4, H1 (chest)
  • Dustball (accessory) - V12, H13 (hidden)
  • L-vase (accessory) - V15, H13 (hidden)
  • Hint-10 - V23, H13 (hidden)

When you enter this place for the first time during the game, it will be deserted, because the members of the Kudur cult have already exterminated all the enemies. However, it is possible to return later to face the battle. It's nothing complicated. Although the terrain is to your disadvantage, with a high building to climb, the enemies are not at all dangerous. The only wizard present can only heal enemy units, while the archer is not in a position to cause you problems. However, there are five items to collect and reaching them all takes time, even with a Wing Armor. Here in particular, you can find a Dustball, from which you can get the C-Prism.

Pava Sea West[edit]

Basic reward: 8.000 G
Items:

  • Tortoise (shield) - V19, H8 (chest)
  • W-boots (acessory) - V23, H12 (chest)
  • Casts (accessory) - V24, H13 (chest)

Re-entering this battlefield, after having overcome it and defeated Mahler on the ship, it will be different. To collect all the items you are forced to face this battlefield twice. At the beginning you will find yourself behind a hill, while the enemies are all on the other side. Try to immediately eliminate the only wizard present from a distance, because he can heal enemy units. The other enemies shouldn't cause you much trouble. However, be careful of daggeL-wielding wingers, who can cast Glacialla, a spell that can cause moderate damage to multiple characters. The chests are all on rocks in the middle of the sea, at the bottom of the battlefield. You will immediately realize that the two furthest ones seem unreachable. Then reach and open the nearest chest with your usual winged character. Inside you will find a Tortoise Shield. After the battle, you must equip your group so that you have two winged characters, one of which is equipped with this shield and the other with the usual dagger with the Unlock skill and a special weapon with the Blockmake skill. Re-enter the battlefield and have the character with the Tortoise Shield learn the Terraformer skill. At this point, bring the two winged characters mentioned above near the rock on which the chests are located. Use the Terraformer skill to turn the water around the rock into land. The other character with the Blockmake skill will thus be able to create a pile of crates on the ground, with which he will be able to reach the chests and open them.

Fort Dantess[edit]

Basic reward: 16.250 G
Items:

  • Psybell (special weapon) - V5, H8 (hidden)
  • Urn (special weapon) - V12, H12 (hidden)

You can freely enter this battlefield after, according to the game's plot, the attack on Fort Dantess is canceled. The terrain here doesn't help you much, at the beginning you find yourself at the foot of the fortress. To reach the inside of the fort, unless you are wearing Wing Armor, you are forced to pass through two very narrow passages on the sides of the walls, on a steep slope. It's really hard, for characters with limited mobility. Alternatively, you can consider using the Blockmake ability. The enemies, however, shouldn't cause you particular problems. The only wizard present can only heal enemy units. There are two archers but, given the shape of the fortress, it will not always be possible for them to hit you. The remaining enemies are then really easy to defeat, especially if you use ranged attacks. The two items to collect are both inside the fort. Send a winged character to get them, after eliminating most of the enemies.

Secret Battlefields[edit]

To access these battlefields, you must first find the relevant map, which indicates their location, otherwise they will not appear on the World Map.

Cyclops[edit]

Needed to access it: Map-1 (found in Slate Convent 2)
Basic reward: 27.500 G
Items:

  • Ikarsor (accessory) - V0, H33 (hidden)
  • Goblin (shield) - V15, H14 (hidden)
  • Map-9 - V16, H21 (hidden)

For an optional battle, this one is pretty tough. There are in fact many enemies to face, including four wizards, all with offensive spells. One of them can also heal enemy units. Other enemies to fear are archers. Here, in fact, you have the terrain at your disadvantage (even if not very steep), so the enemy archers who are at the bottom of the battlefield have a good range and can cause considerable damage. To simplify things, don't advance too quickly and try to face the enemies a little at a time. The battlefield is wide, with several obstacles. The three items to collect are all hidden and two require Wing Armor. Don't forget to grab Map-9, to access another secret battlefield.

Gemini[edit]

Needed to access it: Map-2. To get it, in Chapter 4, you need to talk to a woman at Sady's tavern, who will ask you to find her boyfriend Daniel. You must then go to the taverns in all the towns on the world map and talk to the patrons. In each town someone will say something about Daniel. After talking to everyone, return to Sady. Daniel will be there, at the tavern. Talk to the woman again to get this map.
Basic reward: 16.250 G
Items:

  • Lunarod (staff) - V1, H30 (chest)
  • Vardish (axe) - V28, H0 (chest)

This library-looking battlefield is very wide, with large spaces at different heights. There are also many enemies, including three wizards, all three with attack spells and one that can even put your characters to sleep. Fortunately, thanks to the size of the battlefield, you should be able to face them a little at a time. Also keep an eye out for archers, who can cause considerable damage if they attack you from a greater height, and wingers with spears, who have a powerful attack. There are two chests to open here, both in the lower part of the battlefield, one at the opposite end from the other, so reaching them takes time. Entering the battlefield from the west, you will start the battle from the highest point, giving yourself an advantage over the enemies, but you will be far away from the chests. Entering from the east insteas, you will start fighting from the lowest point, much closer to the chests, but you will be at a disadvantage compared to the enemies. To you the choice.

Triangle[edit]

Needed to access it: Map-3. To get it, you need to talk to all the people in Luxar's tavern. A middle-aged man will tell you that the shop owner knows a secret place. Go to the shop and in the list of purchasable items, at the bottom, there will be the option ?????. Select it and the shopkeeper will sell you this map for 15.000 G.
Basic reward: 7.500 G
Items:

  • Pipe (special weapon) - V10, H8 (hidden)
  • Goblin (shield) - V3, H3 (chest)
  • Clump (accessory) - V3, H3 (hidden)

This battlefield consists of a steep islet in the middle of the sea, which you will have to climb following a fixed path. The enemies you encounter shouldn't put you in trouble. There is a particularly annoying wizard at the top of the island, who can heal enemy units and is difficult to reach with your spells. If you manage to eliminate him, the battle will be a real joke, just keep your strongest characters on the front line. Even the archers will not cause you problems, because from their position it will be difficult for them to hit your characters along the path. Here you can find one of the Prisms (hidden in the Clump), right under the only chest present. To find another trasure, you have to reach the top of the islet.

Fortuna[edit]

Needed to access it: Map-4 (found in Killea Bog)
Basic reward: 6.250 G
Items:

  • Urn (special weapon) - V14, H37 (chest)
  • Dirtball (accessory) - V2, H37 (hidden)

Fortuna is a huge sloping battlefield, crossed vertically by a wall, with a passageway on the bottom. There are many enemies to face, including three wizards (two with attack spells and one that can heal enemy units). However, given the size of the battlefield, you should be able to face them a little at a time, making things easier for you. If you have some healing items/spells with you, you shouldn't have too many problems. There are two items to collect here, but to find the Dirtball (analizing it you will get one of the Prisms) you need to enter this battlefield at night. Then check the clock at the top right of the world map: you have to enter Fortuna between 10.00 and 12.00. Maybe wander around the World Map a bit to reach the right time. You will easily understand if you entered at night, because the environment will be dark and the enemies will have a skeletal appearance.

Goldfinch[edit]

Needed to access it: Map-5 (found in Gardeau 1)
Basic reward: 37.500 G
Items:

  • Spatula (special weapon) - V5, H30 (chest)
  • Berseka (sword) - V8, H30 (chest)
  • Magerobe (robe armor) - V31, H20 (chest)

It is the last secret battlefield you can unlock, as well as the most difficult one. Goldfinch is basically wide, steep sloping terrain, with a fortress at the top. Your group will start from the bottom, so they will be at a great disadvantage. In this battlefield there are many enemies, including three wizards, all with offensive spells, which you must eliminate as soon as possible. Even more dangerous, however, are the archers. There are in fact quite a few of them and they will always be in an advantageous position over you. Three of them are in the fortress at the top and have a very long range. They can strike almost anywhere, causing massive damage. As you climb the hill, you must therefore be very careful, trying to guess which character will be targeted next and move him accordingly. Fortunately, along the way there are some ruins that you can use to shelter from their attacks, but reaching the fortress and eliminating the last archers is no small feat. Two of the three items to collect are also at the top. At least, the treasures you can find here are very useful: Berseka is the second most powerful sword in the game and the Magerobe provides 999 MP.

The Rock[edit]

Needed to access it: Map-6 (found in Tehapi Dunes, re-entering the battlefield)
Basic reward: 7.250 G
Items:

  • Iron-fan (special weapon) - V29, H16 (chest)
  • Puggio (dagger) - V11, H15 (chest)

This large battlefield is divided transversely by a high, steep rock structure, with waterfalls taking up much of the surface. There are eight enemies, but of only two kinds: five wizards, all capable of casting the Dragonbreath spell (but nothing else), and three wingers. The wizards can be insidious, but luckily they are also very spaced out from each other and you should be able to deal with them one at a time. The three wingers will probably come at you in a group and given their low HP value you should defeat them in a single turn. Try to reach the top of the rocks as soon as possible, to defeat the enemies easily. There are two treasures to collect, kept in as many chests, both quite useful. Send a character with Wing Armor to find them.

Rainbow[edit]

Needed to access it: Map-7 (found in Erawaga Falls)
To recover all the items, you must face this battlefield four times. Each time, to unlock the next level, you must find a Plan on the battlefield. After finding it, returning to this battlefield, it will be different. New items will be available and the difficulty level will increase.

RAINBOW 1
Basic reward: 8.000 G
Items:

  • L-cape (accessory) - V0, H19 (hidden)
  • Plan-1 (accessory) - V12, H9 (hidden)
  • Joule (dagger) - V12, H16 (chest)

The first time you enter this area, the battle will be very easy. The terrain is practically entirely flat, with some minor obstacles. Even enemies won't cause you any problems. There are two wizards, one capable of healing enemy units and one that can attack your group, but given the almost lack of obstacles, eliminating them from a distance will be very easy. You should win this fight in a short time. However, remember to collect the items present, especially Plan-1, which allows you to access the next level. Note: If you don't collect the other two items, they will still be present in subsequent levels.

RAINBOW 2
Basic reward: 8.000 G
Items:

  • Deltite (accessory) - V7, H9 (chest)
  • Plan-2 (accessory) - V19, H5 (chest)

When you re-enter the battlefield you will notice that in the center, where there was almost nothing before, an incomplete tower now stands. The battle isn't much more difficult though. The only enemies to keep an eye on are the archers (who, however, will hardly be able to hit you from the tower) and the two wingers with spears, who can cause huge damage with their Justifier attack. The only wizard present can only heal enemy units. Kill the enemies on the ground first, then deal with the others. Except maybe at the end of the battle, you won't need to climb the tower, enemies will come towards you automatically. The only two items to collect, including the Plan-2 to unlock the next level, are in easy-to-reach chests.

RAINBOW 3
Basic reward: 8.000 G
Items:

  • Plan-3 (accessory) - V10, H9 (chest)

Upon entering the battlefield for the third time, in possession of the Plan-2, you will notice that the tower is now almost complete. Compared to the first two battles, things get a little more complicated. This time there are in fact more enemies, including two wizards, both capable of hitting your group with their spells. However, one of them is very easy to eliminate, because it is on the ground, quite close to your starting position. To defeat most of the enemies you must climb the tower, following the narrow spiral path. The enemies will come towards you, but you should be able to deal with them a little at a time without problems. If you can then weaken them with your spells first, this will make things even easier for you. The other wizard is near the top of the tower, so try to eliminate him from a distance. There is only one item to collect here, namely Plan-3, which however is found in a chest at the top of the tower. Reaching it therefore takes time.

RAINBOW 4
Basic reward: 8.000 G
Items:

  • Killer (shield) - V8, H7 (chest)
  • Clay (accessory) - V9, H9 (hidden)

In the final battle in this area, the tower is complete and very high. There are even more enemies than last time, so this will be a long battle. However, if you act well, facing the enemies a little at a time, this won't be too difficult either. Eliminate the enemies on the ground first, then start climbing the tower, using the same strategy as the previous battle. There are two wizards here too and both have attack spells. One of them can then put your group to sleep and the other can cast Mini. So organize yourself accordingly and try to eliminate them quickly. One of them is located halfway up the tower and the other right at the top, so they will only become dangerous when you get closer. There are two items to collect. The Killer is a great shield and is about two-thirds of the way up. To reach the Clay, the final objective of this battlefield, you must instead climb to the top of the tower. It therefore takes a long time, even for a winged character. By analyzing the Clay, you will get one of the Prisms.

Octopus[edit]

Needed to access it: Map-8. To get it, in Chapter 4, you must repeatedly talk to the middle-aged man in Kiskana's tavern. Gilti will recognize him as Darius, a professor of whom he had been a disciple. Darius will give you this map and meet you at Octopus.
Basic reward: 16.250 G
Items:

  • Goblin (shield) - V24, H3 (hidden)
  • Ogre-rod (special weapon) - V5, H3 (hidden)

After a short fun sequence, the battle will begin. This is a very particular battle, on an airship. The "enemies" are eight Howitzers, which you must destroy. Each of them cannot move from its position and has only one attack: Cannon Shot. However, these attacks are quite powerful, causing 80 or more points of damage to the character hit and have a wide range of action. At the beginning you will definitely get hit a few times, so make sure you move the characters at risk of attack so that they don't take too many hits and don't get KO'd. Also use your wizards to heal them, since spells will be of little use here. Luckily, Howitzers only have 160 HP and low defense, so they can be easily destroyed with a couple of powerful physical attacks. A good strategy, since they cannot move, is to try to eliminate those who have not yet attacked first, to suffer fewer hits. Once you've eliminated three or four of them, things will become much easier and destroying the last enemies will be a breeze. Don't forget to collect the two items, you can get another Recovermark.

Commandia[edit]

Needed to access it: Map-10 (found in Kollaba Swamp after getting the Plug)
Basic reward: 18.750 G
Items:

  • Gravi-X (heavy armor) - V14, H14 (hidden)
  • Goldbat (special weapon) - V19, H3 (chest)
  • Dumbbell (accessory) - V24, H24 (hidden)

A large stepped battlefield. If you enter from the east, you'll initially find yourself at the top, with the terrain to your advantage, but you'll be a long way from the items you need to collect. Conversely, entering from the west you will start the battle at the lowest point, close to the hidden treasures, but at a disadvantage compared to the enemies. To you the choice. There are several enemies to face, including three wizards, all with offensive spells. If you choose to start the battle from the bottom, you will also have to pay close attention to the archers, who can easily hit you, causing massive damage. At the beginning, the enemies are arranged symmetrically, with a large group at the right end of the battlefield and an equal one at the opposite end, so you can consider dividing your characters into two groups, then sending them in opposite directions.

Jackblade[edit]

Needed to access it: Map-11 (found in Mining Prison Level Three)
Basic reward: 4.500 G
Items:

  • Goblin (shield) - V30, H38 (chest)
  • Pole-ax (axe) - V1, H38 (chest)

This battlefield is essentially a single extended inclined plane, with no obstacles or variations of any kind. At the beginning you can choose where to place your characters throughout the whole battle area. You should definitely place them all on the top, otherwise they will be an easy target for the archers present, who can cause serious damage. Starting from the top, you can immediately eliminate the archers, not to mention the fact that you will already be close to the two chests to open. The other enemies are not a big problem, the only wizard present can only heal the other units. The problem is that there are quite a few of them. So try to eliminate them quickly when they come towards you, avoiding being surrounded.

Queentia[edit]

Needed to access it: Map-12 (found in Kutao Mountain)
Basic reward: 700 G
Items:

  • Hi.herb - V4, H5 (chest)
  • Hi.herb - V4, H9 (chest)
  • Hi.herb - V10, H4 (chest)
  • Hi.herb - V15, H8 (chest)
  • Hi.herb - V17, H4 (chest)
  • Graver (lance) - V9, H8 (chest)
  • Rebelrod (special weapon) - V12, H13 (chest)

You can access this secret battlefield early on in the game. It is a sort of labyrinth on the water, completely flat. There are quite a few chests, which often block the passages. You must necessarily open them to proceed. If you enter Queentia already in possession of a Wing Armor, opening all the chests will be a trifle.

Kingrand[edit]

Needed to access it: Map-13 (found in Yuggor)
Basic reward: 16.250 G
Items:

  • Burnier (spear) - V0, H13 (chest)
  • L-metal (accessory) - V14, H15 (hidden)
  • Psybell (special weapon) - V14, H9 (chest)
  • A-magic (heavy armor) - V16, H20 (hidden)

A large battlefield, consisting of a high fortress on top of a hill. You are quite limited in movement and have to follow a long path. Among the enemies there are several wingers. Those with swords don't pose much of a threat, while you need to keep an eye on those with thrown weapons, as they can attack you from above, causing massive damage. There is also a wizard, who can cast Blackhole. Eliminate him as soon as possible. There are four items to collect here, some of them very useful. You should open the chest on the ground first, after eliminating the three wingers along the path. From there you can then quite easily reach the top of the fortress where the other treasures are located, using the steps nearby.

Fortissa[edit]

Needed to access it: Map-14 (found in Lugusta Ruins)
Basic reward: 18.000 G
Items:

  • Letter 1 (accessory) - V12, H36 (chest)
  • S-metal (Wing Armor) - V11 or 12, H20 or 21 (hidden)
  • Spatula (special weapon) - V11, H36 (chest)

A slightly sloping battlefield, to your disvantage. There are many enemies to face, but the only ones to fear are the four wizards, all with offensive spells. Eliminate them all as soon as possible. The remaining enemies shouldn't cause you much trouble and you should eliminate them easily. Maybe keep an eye on the archers. The two chests are both at the bottom of the battlefield and reaching them can take time. The most valuable item to find here, however, is S-metal, the best Wing Armor in the game. Be careful though, it is not always in the same place, but can be in four different adjacent positions. If you don't find it right away, try changing places.

Zero[edit]

Needed to access it: Map-0 (found in Pava Sea East)
Basic reward: 8.000 G
Items:

  • Mudball (accessory) - V15, H19 (hidden)
  • O-mirror (accessory) - V1, H14 (hidden)

A little more difficult than the other secret battlefields. There are in fact many enemies to face, including two wizards (one can attack you with Blizzard and the other can heal enemy units). You start the fight in a lower position than most of the battlefield and have to go up a narrow passage to get up. However, it is not necessary to advance very far: the enemies will come towards you automatically. You'll probably want to leave your mages down below, safe (after eliminating two wingers), where they can hit other enemies with their spells as they get closer. There are two items to collect. They are both very useful: the Mudball contains a Prim essential to get the Vandal Hearts sword and the 0-Mirror allows you to discover a secret battlefield by re-entering Zero with this item equipped, so don't miss them.

Altered Maps[edit]

To find these secret battlefields, you must return to battlefields you have already faced and also be in possession of a certain item, otherwise the environment will remain unchanged.

East Railroad[edit]

Needed to access: Seeds (found in Randahl Plain, no need to equip them)
Basic reward: 16.250 G
Items:

  • Harisen (special weapon) - V4, H23 (hidden)

If you enter this battlefield with the Seeds, the environment will be completely different. The new battlefield is long, narrow and completely flat. At the beginning you can choose whether to line up your characters all on one side, or half at one end and half at the opposite end. You can do as you like, the enemies shouldn't cause you much trouble. The only wizard present can only heal enemy units. You should therefore be able to win this fight in a short time. The only item to collect is easy to both locate and reach.

Kollaba Swamp[edit]

Needed to access: Plug (found in Bazo Forest, no need to equip it)
Basic reward: 18.750 G
Items:

  • Map-10 - V8, H21 (hidden)
  • Lump (accessory) - V16, H19 (chest)
  • Map-B - V17, H0 (hidden)

If you enter this battlefield with the Plug, the water from the swamp will drain, making it possible to find other items, in addition to those you have already been able to collect. The battle is pretty easy. The enemies shouldn't cause you any major problems (the only wizard present can only heal enemy units) and the terrain is practically completely flat, with some slight undulations. However, remember to collect the three treasures, which are very precious. By analyzing the Lump you will find one of the Prisms, Map-10 allows you to access a secret battlefield and Map-B gives you a clue to finding the Ingot in Erawaga Falls.

Zero (mirror room)[edit]

Needed to access: 0-mirror (found in Zero, it must be equipped)
Basic reward: 16.250 G
Items:

  • Evildoll (special weapon) - V6, H15 (hidden)
  • Textbook (special weapon) - V12, H8 (hidden)

In this battle you have to face a perfect copy of your group. The enemies will have the same appearance, the same equipment and the same skills that you have when you enter the battlefield. While this may be endearing, you'll quickly realize that this is one of the toughest battles in the game. The battlefield is square and completely flat, without obstacles. At the beginning your characters are all lined up along one side and their copies along the opposite side. There cannot be a single strategy to win this fight, because everything depends on how your characters are equipped. As general advice however, for this fight it is better to remove all attack items and equip your characters only with weak or useless skills, therefore focusing everything only on physical attacks, otherwise the fight risks being too complicated. Also be careful not to attack your allies: since the appearance of the enemies is identical to theirs it is easy to get confused. Finally, remember to have a character with the Searchmark skill, to collect the two items present. The Evildoll is a very powerful weapon, so you should tackle this battlefiels as soon as possible.

Rosace Hill[edit]

Needed to access: All 14 Maps
Basic reward: 35.000 G
Items:

  • Clod (accessory) – V12 or 13, H14 or 15 (hidden)

Returning to the first battlefield you faced in the game after having already unlocked all the secret battlefields (i.e. already owning all 14 maps), the environment will be slightly different, with a strange symbol appearing on the ground, in the middle. Here you can find the Clod, from which you can get the last prism. It can be found in four adjacent positions, so you won't always find it on the first try. There is little to say about the battle. The battlefield is practically unchanged and enemies should not cause any problems. The only wizard present can only heal enemy units. You should then win easily within a few minutes.
