How to play[edit]

To complete the game, you must guide the warrior through six levels. The first and sixth level have only one path, but the middle four levels provide you with a choice of two paths which you must select from before starting the level. On each level, there are 31 check points and a set of double doors at the end of the level. You will encounter monsters to battle at each and every check point. You will even encounter monsters when you travel backwards to a previous check point, even if you have already defeated the monsters there. You can cycle back and forth between two check points to repeat the same battles over and over again. This is a good method of building up experience points and increasing the player's level.

Treasure[edit]

At the end of each battle, you will be awarded a number of experience points determined by the monsters that you actually defeat. If you defeat the very last monster without allowing it to escape, it will leave a treasure chest. You will earn gold by collecting the treasure chest. There is also a random chance that you will find an item in the chest. The chance of you finding an item depends on how rare and valuable the item is. Single portions of food are very easy to get, while level 8 weapons or armor are incredibly difficult to get. In Game A (the default game), the items that you can earn from each particular battle are predesignated, and are listed on the maps for each level. You can attempt to earn the same treasure from a particular battle as many times as you like. Having previously earned the item does not diminish your chances of earning it again. The treasure obtained at the end of a boss battle will be a randomly assigned item, and is quite frequently empty.

Shops[edit]

Throughout the game, it is possible to locate shops that will allow you to sell off items in your inventory, and purchase three possible items that are sold at that location. Some shop locations are immediately apparent, in the form of doors that are visible in the background. Other shop locations are hidden. Each level is divided into four quarters, and each quarter has a different shopping list, applied to all shops in this quarter. To enter a shop, you must either press Up dpad+B button at the right location, or jump off the top of the screen. There is always a shop at the very beginning of each level, where you can access a hidden door at far left end.

Game B[edit]

Game B is far more difficult than Game A for many reasons. For one thing, your warrior starts off with weaker stats, and does not grow as strong with each level increase as he does in Game A. Furthermore, the items that you can earn from treasures are not set. This works both for you and against you. It works for you because it is possible to earn far more powerful items earlier on in the game than it would be possible in Game A. It works against you because it is far more difficult to earn those powerful items than the easier items that you would earn in Game A that would help you progress deeper into the game. And if you try to backtrack, the enemies will also be random, which can be deadly when you are low in supply. Game B provides a greater challenge, but it can also be a more frustrating play experience. Players are recommended to play Game B only when they feel they have mastered Game A.
