Time to head to  the Ice Cavern, one of the most dangerous places in this game, so take the time to get any weapons, armor, and magic you missed. Level up quite a bit too. When you're ready, jump in your ship and head near the northeastern edge of the southern continent. There should be a sheltered bay with a dock a little to the north of where you landed when you walked to Crescent Lake. Go to it then enter the river system on the west side. Follow the river north and west (consult your World Map) and you should be at the Ice Cavern. The river enemies are some of the nastiest in the game; leagues above the Terra Cave, so you are in for a brutal journey. It's up to you, but I would strongly recommend that you use a shelter before you enter.
You'll encounter a great number of ice based enemies. Frost Wolves often hunt in large packs, and the White (Frost) Dragon uses Blizzard magic against you. Just as you attacked Fire monsters with Ice spells and weapons, Ice monsters are susceptible to attack by fire. Fira, and especially Fiaraga (if you have it at this point) will melt the opposition.

The first floor is extremely linear, so you shouldn't have any problem finding the stairs to floor 2. Just head east, south, and back west. You can't get through the rubble to the other side of the stairs, so don't bother.

You'll need to take out the Evil Eye quickly before it unleashes its flurry of spells. The boss doesn't have any particular weakness, but it doesn't have a lot of HP either. Equip your best fighter with the Rune Sword and cast Haste on him if possible. A quick round of strong physical attacks should diminish its power. The Life spell may come in handy if the Eye succeeds in casting an instant-kill spell on one of your party members.

The Evil Eye has some pretty nasty spells, mostly of the instant-kill variety. Warriors and Monks should attack. Black Mages and Red Mages should use [[Final Fantasy/Magic/Black#Fire3|Fire3]] and [[Final Fantasy/Magic/Black#Bolt3|Bolt3]]. White Mages should use [[Final Fantasy/Magic/White#Dia2|Dia2]] or [[Final Fantasy/Magic/White#Cure2|Cure2]] when necessary. It shouldn't last any longer than one round if your levels are high enough. One thing to note about Evil Eye is that it returns even after you kill it - if you step on the tile again you'll start the fight again. This means two things: 1) don't step on it until after you've gotten the Levistone, exited the cave, and saved your game, and 2) come back later to beat the crap out of it some more and raise your levels.

Since the fall of the great civilization in the North, the Desert of Ryukahn has kept a secret buried beneath its burning sands. Now, armed with the Levistone, the Light Warriors can seek out and raise the Airship. Their quest to become warriors of the sky is almost complete.

After obtaining the Levistone from the Cavern of Ice, sail south to the Ryukahn Desert. You'll have the ability to raise the airship from the sands by using the Levistone while you're there. To reach Ryukahn Desert, you'll need to drop anchor at the mouth of a river that lies south of Crescent Lake along the eastern border of the continent. Besides ports, these openings are the only places you can reach land from your ship. Then jump onto the piece of land immediately to your left. Hike to the middle of the desert and access the item menu. Use the Levistone and the Airship will magically rise from the sands.
After you win, you'll be able to take the [[Final Fantasy/Key items#Levistone|Levistone]]. Walk around, and you'll probably fall through the floor back to floor 3a. Make your way back to the stairs past the room with the treasures, and you'll be be back outside.


Now you'll have to put your Levistone to work, but where you ask. First, get back to your ship, then take it to the south-eastern edge of the continent, and you should see a desert and a river that goes westward. Dock at the river, then get out and walk west into the Lykion Desert. Use the Levistone while standing in the desert and you'll get the (start short fanfare) airship.
The airship is a very powerful vehicle. You won't encounter random enemies while you're piloting it, so you can travel from one place to the next at great speed. Flying the airship opens up many new areas and allows you easy access to places you've already been. The airship does not allow you to reach ''every'' portion on the map, however. You can only land on smooth green areas.


Fly back to Cornelia to rest and save, then fly north until you reach a chain of islands.

They must prove to the Dragon King once and for all that they are true heroes by mastering the Citadel of Trials. Finally. they will need to plunge deep into the sea and explore the Sunken Shrine. There they will face Kraken in battle, and relight the crystal. But first, a new means of transportation must be discovered.
