The four entrances to the islands, which cover most of the route, are all blocked by a whirlpool. HM 06 (whirlpool) which can be used to remove those whirlpools is found later in the game in Team Rocket's Hideout. It can be used outside battle after you have defeated [[Pokémon Gold and Silver/Mahogany Gym|Pryce]] and received the Glacier Badge (7th badge). The real reward of those islands is the legendary Pokémon Lugia. For further information see: [[Pokémon Gold and Silver/Whirl Islands|Whirl Islands]]. | |||
