Overdrive Modes (not to be confused with overdrives) are how a character's Overdrive Gauge fills up. Everyone starts with the Stoic mode. The rest of these modes are learned in battle by doing the same actions they use to increase the gauge so many times dependent on the character. Once learned, the mode must be equipped to increase the Overdrive Gauge. Only one can be used at a time.

Mode Description Amount Gauge Increases
Ally Gauge increases by having a turn in Battle 4%
Avenger Gauge increases when Ally is KO'ed 30%
Comrade Gauge increases Ally takes Damage (Damage x 20)/ (Hit Ally's Max HP)
Coward Gauge increases when Character escapes Battle 10%
Dancer Gauge increases when attacks are evaded 16%
Daredevil Gauge increases when character has a turn while HP is critical 16%
Healer Gauge increases when character heals an Ally (Amount Healed x 16)/ (Target Max HP)
Hero Gauge increases when character defeats an enemy with high HP 20%
Loner Gauge increases when character is the single attacker in battle (Allies are KO'ed, Ejected, Escaped, etc.) 16%
Rook Gauge increases when attacked while in use of nullifying or reducing attacks(Protect, Shell, NulBlaze, NulShock, etc.) 10%
Slayer Gauge increases when character defeats an enemy 20%
Stoic Gauge increases when character receives damage (Damage x 30)/ (Characters Max HP)
Sufferer Gauge increases when character has a turn while inflicted with a status ailment (Poison, Confuse, etc.) 16%
Tactician Gauge increases when character inflicts a status aliment upon enemy 16%
Victim Gauge increases when enemy inflicts character with a status ailment 16%
Victor Gauge increases when battle is won (character must be active and not on reserve) 20%
Warrior Gauge increases when damage is done to an enemy 1%-16%

Each character learns these modes at a different rate. Below is the number of turns needed of the specific action per character it takes to learn.
