The link gun has two uses

offensive=

  • Link primary shoots relatively slow moving bolts; which are very visible and usually easy to avoid in the open, but far more efffective in confined space.
  • Link seconday shoots a line of energy -but has a medium range.
    • If you hit a target with link secondary, the line becomes less wavy and more solid.
    • If the target is a player, he will be "locked down", and cannot dodge or move as well as normal
  • Linking to a teammate increases the power of his link gun
    • Your teammate's primary fire will be twice as powerful
      • This allows you to take better cover and concentrate on dodging and not worry about aiming. This only is effective if your teammate has better aim than you! Knowing who the good players in your team are is nearly as important as knowing your opponents.
      • It is particularly effective if your teammate has double dammage.
    • Your teammate's secondary fire is improved over and above doubling.
      • Seondary fire is an ineffective way of attacking nodes and cores

Repairing\building

  • The link gun secondary fire is the only way a player can repair dammaged Vehicles and build nodes.
  • Linking to the first person to arrive at a node is the etiquette of online play; and is far more effective than everbody l;inking directly to the node.
  • Throwing the link gun when only 2-3 units of ammo is left; then re-stocking at a locker gives a player additional ammo.
