- /: Steer (tilt more for sharper turns)
- : Increase speed; decrease flight
- : Decrease speed; increase flight
- +: Slide-turn left (reduces speed and turns more sharply)
- ++: Drift-turn left (increases speed and turns very sharply)
- +: Slide-turn right (reduces speed and turns more sharply)
- ++: Drift-turn right (increases speed and turns very sharply)
- : Accelerate
- : Air Brake
- (while pressing ): Boost (after 1st lap, energy is exchanged for short-term speed boost)
- +/: Side attack (vehicle barges sideways slightly to bash opponents)

- /: Change camera angles
- : Pause and display pause screen
Advanced
- Dash Plate Extra Boost - Hit the edge rather than the middle of a dash plate to receive a double boost.
- Shift Boost - Leaving the track and returning to it a split-second later results in a speed boost. Most easily achieved by cutting the square-edged corners on Sand Ocean (Lateral Shift).
