SimFarm/Equipment

From StrategyWiki, the video game walkthrough and strategy guide wiki

A variety of equipment is required to run a successful farm.

Crop Equipment[edit]

Machines[edit]

Machines are required to tend your fields. If you don't own a particular machine, you can have your farm automatically borrow one from town with the AutoLease option.

Structures[edit]

Structures can protect your equipment, preserving its quality.

Fields[edit]

Fields are 8x8 plots of land where you grow your crops. You can create a new field by selecting a crop from the PLANT button. You must clear land of all trees and rocks before placing a field.

Ditches[edit]

Irrigation ditches are used to control the moisture of your fields. Empty ditches can dry out wet fields, and irrigated ditches (connected to a water source) provide necessary moisture to dry fields.

Trees[edit]

Trees act as a windbreak, preventing gradual damage to fields from high winds.

Seeds[edit]

Seeds are used to plant the corresponding crops. Seeds can be purchased from the Buy window, or the farm can purchase them as needed with the AutoBuy option, which is on by default and is recommended for new players. Planters are used to plant the seeds in a field.

Sprays[edit]

Sprays are used to treat various problems. Sprays can be purchased from the Buy window, or the farm can purchase them as needed with the AutoBuy option, which is on by default and is recommended for new players. Sprayers are used to spray fields.

Harvested Crops[edit]

If you have empty slots in a silo, your harvested crops will be stored for future sale. Crops can be sold using the Sell window.

If you have no storage slots available, or if you purchased futures on the crop, it will be sold immediately for the current market rate or for the price at which you purchased the futures.

Livestock Equipment[edit]

Structures[edit]

Barns within livestock pens provide shelter for your animals, which reduces their food and water consumption.

Feed[edit]

Animals need feed to stay healthy. Each type of animal eats at a different rate. You will need to frequently purchase new bales of feed for your livestock.

Water troughs[edit]

Animals need water to stay healthy. Each type of animal drinks at a different rate. Water troughs require nearby water towers to stay full.

Fences[edit]

Fences can be used to confine Livestock into pens, to make sure they remain close to sources of food, shelter, and water. If sections of fence break, they should be replaced as soon as possible.

Irrigation ditches can also be used as a break-proof method of penning your animals.
