Story[edit | edit source]
The story of Red Alert 2 picks up two decades after the conclusion of the Allied campaign in the first game. After the demise of Joseph Stalin, Alexander Romanov was installed by Allied leaders as a puppet Soviet premier to keep the Soviet Union in friendly relations with the West. Though seemingly a man of peace, Romanov was vengeful against the Allies and rebuilt the Soviet military under the cover of defense purposes. With the help of his top advisor, the mysterious psychic Yuri, Romanov managed to shut down the Allied intelligence network around the USSR.
The Soviets then invaded the mainland United States from all sides without warning. The Americans attempted to launch a nuclear retaliation, but Yuri used his mind control to sabotage the launch and leave the warheads exploding in their silos. Within hours, the US was overran with Soviet troops.
Red Alert 2 offers two 12-mission campaigns. The player can either take the role of an Allied Commander, tasked by General Ben Carville to liberate the United States; or a Soviet Commander leading the invasion for Premier Romanov.
