A level similar to the one where you are chased by the big rolling snowball. Here a huge bear is chasing you, but the action is basically the same. In addition to jumping gaps, you'll have to slide under electric shocks, destroy barricades with a spin attack and avoid (or kill) some simple enemies.
Immediately after the second checkpoint you will find the crystal, the detonator to blow up all the Nitro boxes and access to the bonus area. The bonus area is nothing complicated, you just have to perform a couple of high jumps: the first one to reach some boxes on some platforms above and the second one to jump over some Nitro boxes.
After the fourth checkpoint you will find a small bear, the same as the one you have already ridden in other levels. Crash will jump on it and from now on you won't have to worry about the huge bear chasing you anymore, because the little bear moves automatically. However, you will have to pay attention to the obstacles. Eventually, the little bear will throw you over a cliff and you'll land right in front of the exit room.
However, here is one of the hidden portals that leads to the secret Warp Room. Instead of going into the exit room, go back over the precipice with the slide + jump combination. Reach the little bear and you will be teleported. You will then be able to access the secret level Totally Bear.
Getting the gem[edit]
To break all the boxes in this level, you have to discover a really well hidden area. At the second checkpoint, go back a few steps and jump into the big ravine under the wooden bridge where the huge bear just fell. This will take you to a side-scrolling area similar to certain bonus areas, but definitely tricky. In this area you have to advance while avoiding bullets fired at regular intervals by some hunter-like enemies. The projectiles move slowly and in straight lines, however the platforms are positioned in such a way that you will often have to act with good timing to avoid the projectiles by jumping at the right moment. Then there are other obstacles too, such as enemies with blades on their backs and the dangerous Nitro boxes. In this area there are two hard to spot boxes - after passing a C box there is an Aku Aku box behind three metal crates. The two boxes in question are above the next platform. Use a high jump to reach them. At the bottom you will find a platform that will take you back to the main level. If you manage to break all the boxes in this area and in the main level, as well as the ones in the bonus area of course, you will eventually find the gem.
