SNES players will not keep any of the items they acquire after the last time they saved; in practical terms, in means that the Metal King Sword, Princess's Robe, Demon Spear, and other items will be lost upon entering the post-game. But on the flipside, that means that all items consumed will be restored.

This is especially important because the SNES doesn't allow players to enter the post-game dungeon until they get 5✮ in every vocation. Scrolls of Dragonic Diligence are only buyable in said post-game dungeon; so if you want to have the Dragon vocation's stat bonuses on someone like Rex, but don't want to burn up an entire scroll, you can simply save before using it. This way you can get it back once you enter the post-game (in exchange for your PC losing the Dragon class).

The same principle also applies to Yggdrasil Leaves, Kerplunk Bracers, and the Sands of Time (though it's uses are infinite in the Remakes); this is why it's especially important for SNES players to not use unless they absolutely have to. Otherwise, Nokturnus, the optional post-game boss, will be that much harder.

What this also means is that advanced players can safely use the Scrolls of Dragonic Diligence in ways that wouldn't normally be optimal for the post-game. Rex and Carver will both want to master the Hero and Liquid Metal Slime classes respectively, so the Dragon vocation would ordinarily be wasted on them. But, if an SNES player wants the 30% HP and STR boosts for the final boss, they can simply save right before the final boss, use up the scrolls, and then use them on someone else after the credits.

For the sake of this guide, however, you can safely use the Scroll of Dragonic Diligence you have now on Goowain (or Carver, if you don't plan on clearing the Slimopolis).
