Walkthrough[edit]

Kaijuu Monogatari map Poyon start.png

Poyon starts out in the North West corner of the map, in Bendal Belday Castle (location 1-B). After receiving 50 Pearls and a Heart Stone, walk around the castle to speak with its citizens. Many of the inhabitants have interesting things to say, but very little of it is actually useful to you at the moment. One person will tell you that a traveling monk is found to the south, and another mentions the town of Fidan to the south east. There are two shops here, including the man in the very center of the castle who has the most equipment to sell.

By now you should be used to the fact that you'll have to be very safe and not wander too far from the castle until you earn enough experience points and get much stronger. The good news here is that Poyon is the second best warrior in the game, so it's not too difficult to fight your way to higher levels. Even better news is the fact that Poyon has access to a lot stronger equipment early on in the game, compared to the Hero, when you combine the wares sold in Bendal Belday with those sold in Fidan. You'll get Poyon in travel condition much sooner if you do a good job saving up Pearls.

Gypsy: Be sure to purchase a Silver Key and Canteen before you leave, since you can visit the monk immediately after visiting the Gypsy. To reach the gypsy, head south from the castle and cross the wide bridge to the south. Once you are on the other side, make your way to the west until you see a small structure in the hills. This is Beer Beer Bar (location 3-C). In this bar, you can learn a little information, such as the fact that the Gypsy is found south east of the bar. There is also a man selling healing items in case you need to restock. From the bar, head south to a small oasis pond. Travel just a bit beyond that and head east. You'll see the Gypsy's hut nestled at the end of a small path in the mountains (location 4-C). Enter the hut and speak with the Gypsy in order to exchange the Heart Stone for the Third Map.

Traveling Monk: From the Gypsy's hut, return to the west, and head south as soon as you clear the mountains. Another mountain range will appear on the left side, along with a grassy path that cuts between this range and another, and leads to the west. Follow this path to reach the head-shaped statue (location 4-B). Enter the statue and unlock the door using the Silver Key. This monk is located in the upper left room. Speak with him, and accept his request for a drink of water. In return, he will inform you that the map indicates the location of the Queen Sword, found southeast of Rolan castle. To unlock its true power, the Queen Sword must be combined with the King Sword.

Small detour: If you're still in good health, it's worth paying a quick visit to the cave found to the east of the monk. Exit the monk's statue and head straight east to find a cave in the middle of a forest along a coast (location 4-D). Step inside to learn about a man who's transport crashed in the eastern lake, and some of his things were still wrapped in fire-protection clothes.

Fidan: If you haven't visited Fidan yet, now is a great time to investigate it. Located northeast of Beer Beer Bar, you an find it by heading straight north from the Gypsy's hut, and crossing over the bridge to reach the town (location 3-C). Fidan serves as a good place to heal up and save your game. You can learn a lot about boats here, and there are some great pieces of equipment to purchase, including the Soldier's Sword and the Iron Armor. Be sure to purchase these items before you begin a long trek to the south.

Patanta: One more thing to purchase before you leave Fidan is a Sake. You'll need it soon and the next town doesn't sell any. To reach this town, you must travel south past the mountain range to the east where the Gypsy lives and beyond the mountain range to the west where the monk lives. If you travel straight south this this area, you'll reach a bridge. Cross the bridge, and then make your way to the east where you'll see the small town of Patanta (location 5-D). Along with healing and saving, there is also a shop with very expensive items. Wait until you return to this town with companions before you worry about purchasing any of them.

The first meeting: From Patanta, head straight south. This should lead you into a path between two mountain ranges that passes through the hills. Follow this path as it first travels south west (ignore the small cave to the west for now), and then south east as the mountain range cuts off your route. Eventually, you will find a passage that allows you to continue south. Travel south until you hit the coast, and then travel west until you find a cave above a channel (location 9-D). You may even see Kapikapi waiting for you on the other side depending on where you parked him. If you have Sake with you, enter the cave. Speak with the goblin and give him the Sake to remove him as a threat. Then advance through the passage. Once again, when you reach the middle of it, you will be sent to a "Devil's formation" stage where you must battle with enemies on a grid. Fight your way through it, and continue to the bottom of the passage. When you exit the other side, walk up to Kapikapi, Speak with him, and choose to Meet him. The two will join together as one party. You will also temporarily gain use of a spell called "Relax" which uses up all of your magic points in exchange for restoring all of your vitality points. Once this is done, select Pass and transfer control over to Babubabu.
