Seggallion's story[edit]

Once the party saves Seggallion, he leaves and starts crossing the Mountains of Tyme towards the east. He never got to the other side. In "Ultima VI: The False Prophet" we learn why.

The following is an excerpt from Ultima VI dialogue with Seggallion:

"I was walking in the mountains of Tyme when suddenly I heard a noise. It was dark and I heard this low growling. Having just been released from Pildar's clutches, I was tired and hungry."
[...] "I peered into the darkness but could see nothing. Suddenly a huge wall of blue flame appeared behind me."
[...] "Just as I turned, the creature leapt from the woods. It hit me with such force, we both entered the blue flame together."
"Well, it didn't burn us, we just fell through to the ground beyond it. After struggling for a while, I finally managed to kill it. That's when I wandered into this community."
"The people of this land are brave and honorable. They fed and clothed me when I discovered that my gold was not the same as yours. I know it is a queer story, but true none the less."

Hexadecimal editing[edit]

Using an hexadecimal editor, it is possible to edit the CHARDATA game and fill in the gaps that should have been completed in the unreleased expansions.

Many ways of editing are possible, but in this guide only the two "legitimate" ones will be listed.

It may happen (although the chances are low) that a copy of the series of bytes (string) that you search can be found more than once in the CHARDATA file. The extra copies will be just random series of bytes in the file, and if you edit them, the effect on your characters will be unpredictable. Therefore, make a backup copy of the CHARDATA file before you proceed.

Missing weapon trainers[edit]

Six weaponskills can be improved by more than one trainer, but there is a gap in the skill levels. Using the following table, you can update the weapon skills of your characters so that they can start training at the upper-level trainers.

This is the minimum cheating necessary to use all features of "Knights of Legend".

...But our princess is in another castle[edit]

Once the 24 quests in the game have been cleared, you were supposed to add a new region, i.e. install an expansion pack. Such expansions were never released. Therefore, all you can do is aimlessly fight random battles.

Using a hexadecimal editor, it is possible to reset the 24 quests and play the game again, keeping all the equipment and skills intact. Look for FFFFFF (six eff's) in the CHARDATA file and replace all instances of it with 000000 (six zeroes). There should be one instance for each of your characters that completed the game.
