An important feature of Order Up! is the ability to hire Assistant Chefs, you can hire up to 2 of these at a time, however they can't add spice with the exception of The Santos, they are each unlocked at different points in the game. Also hiring Assistant Chefs is the listed cost and they will stay with you until you fire them, they will even follow you to different restaurants.

Randle McDandle[edit]
Description from the instruction booklet: "Everybody loves a clown, and having Randle on hand will earn you some extra patience from your customers."
Description from the game: Keep 'em Smiling!! Randle increases the happiness of your guests, no more angry patrons leaving hungry. While Randle is around your patrons will always leave a big tip.

Description from the game: Fry King!! Crispin is a Master of the Fryer, resulting in nothing but golden brown perfection. He is also a reliable grill man.

Larry Cheezler[edit]
Description from the instruction booklet: "With Larry around, you'll find that more customers order any specials you have on the menu, which can mean bigger tips."
Description from the game: Bait and Switch!! Cheezler increases your Chef Special orders for the day. He is such a sweet talker he will even show you how many specials you need to stock for the day. Just make sure you are prepared!

Description from the instruction booklet: If you want it done right, this is your guy. He's very methodical, but slow.

- Specialty: Makes all food "Perfect" but takes twice the time as other assistant chefs.
"Gung" Hobart[edit]
Description from the instruction booklet: Not that accustomed to civilian life he barks orders all day long that can make the other assistants work faster.

- Specialty: All food "Good" or "OK", if he is paired with another assistant, they work twice as fast.

- Specialty: Works twice as fast as other chefs but all food is "Good"

Description from the instruction booklet: Give her anything and it'll come back a masterpiece.
- Cost: 2 gold coins
- Specialty: Makes food prepared with a knife or on a stove "Perfect" and all other food "good"
- Setback: Will take some tips from your customers. She will always take either a minimum of two coins, or one for each customer served.
Mr. Jinkies[edit]
Description from the instruction booklet: Mr. Jinkies has watched the great chefs of Port Abello all his life and is ready to show everyone what a monkey can do in the kitchen!

- Specialty: Makes all food "Good" and never sleeps on the job. Not very good.
