Pokémon Diamond and Pearl/Route 227

From StrategyWiki, the free strategy guide and walkthrough wiki

This is the last route between you and Stark Mountain. Even the wild Pokémon here will give you a hard time if your Pokémon aren't at least level 60 or higher. This is a great place to level up before you go to Stark Mountain if you feel that you're not tough enough.

[edit] Wild Pokémon

Note: the fully evolved Pokémon (i.e. Rhydon, Weezing) are levels 54-56. However, the first form Pokémon (i.e. Gligar, Poliwag) are levels 20-23.

Name Type Catching Strategy
CameruptImage:PkmnType_Fire.gif/Image:PkmnType_Ground.gifsince he is immune to Electric moves like Thunderwave, he is hard to inflict with a status condition. You will risk a Grass Type Pokémon as Camerupt knows Fire moves. Your best bet is to either catch one at night with Dusk Balls, or use a Quick Ball at the very start of the battle and hope for the best.
GravelerImage:PkmnType_Rock.gif/Image:PkmnType_Ground.gifSame as Camerupt, except he doesn't know any Fire Type moves. You won't risk a Grass Pokémon against him, though, so Stun Spore or Sleep Powder and an Ultra Ball are your best bet. Dusk Balls are always a good choice at night
RhydonImage:PkmnType_Rock.gif/Image:PkmnType_Ground.gifSame as Graveler
WeezingImage:PkmnType_Poison.gifSince Weezing will almost always use Explosion as his first move, you will probably have to either put him to sleep and throw balls at him or use a Quick Ball and hope for the best
PoliwhirlImage:PkmnType_Water.gifParalyze, poison, or put it to sleep, then throw Net Balls
PoliwagImage:PkmnType_Water.gifSame as Poliwhirl
GligarImage:PkmnType_Poison.gif/Image:PkmnType_Ground.gifparalyze or put to sleep, but use a Grass Pokémon at your own risk
BanetteImage:PkmnType_Ghost.gif Banette is easy to catch but your pokemon musnt be over 70 or you will fail to weaken it actually you will make it faint...any way i recommend dark balls at night and quick bals during the day and dont use ground type moves

There's a house much like the Old Lady's Rest Stop in R/S/E that will heal your Pokémon. Handy to do before heading off to Mount Stark.
