Zelda 3 enemies[edit]

Hi Ryan. I know it seems very peculiar how I set things up, but everything was done the way you see on purpose. I'm taking this information from a Japanese guide book, and while I rearranged things in the table compared to the way the information is presented in the books, I wanted to leave the order in which info comes from the table in tact. That way, I could just rattle off the information as I read it from the table without thinking too much. As yes, it's true, the level 3 sword does the same exact damage as the hammer and throwing a stone. I realize that I set the parameters up less than ideal, but I will have all 108 enemies done, and since these are simply statistics that shouldn't need much updating once they're entered, they shouldn't require any upkeep. Featured guides[edit]

Hmmm...wouldn't it be simpler if we went for a process more like the current "guide of the month" voting process, rather than the convoluted, messy process we copied from Wikipedia for sysop nomination? --DrBob (Talk) 12:38, 9 August 2007 (CDT)

I am modeling it after the current process, just with a few extra features (the template has a color-coding feature built into it), and an archive for past nominations so one doesn't have to browse through the page history. It will make much more sense once I have finished setting it up. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 12:47, 9 August 2007 (CDT)

Signatures[edit]

How do you get your signature to stay a permanent include? Whenever I enter in my preferences that line, it replaces it with {{SUBST:User:Blendmaster/sig}}, and when I save a page with my signature on it, it expands my signature to the full code, while yours stays {{User:Ryan Schmidt/sig}}. Tell me your secrets! -- [[ blendmaster | talk ]] 14:33, 9 August 2007 (CDT)

Your new sig is pretty good. I just don't like how you changed talk to chat, it confused me <_< >_>

Thanks man.[edit]

Thanks for telling me about the picture I uploaded. I uploaded another picture without checking your message so that is screwed up. I didn't know that the categories were specific image categories. I thought they had to be with the game series. I re-uploaded the picture with category being characters. Thanks for informing me. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by SonikDude (talkcontribs) .

Dude, you rock.[edit]

Thanks so much for putting that time code up. I had no idea about #vardefine. As soon as I saw that, I was like, "shoot, there was something I wanted to do like this a long time ago, but I can't remember what it was..." and then I remembered! It was the move lists! I wanted the colors of the backgrounds to alternate so that it would be easier to read the lines! Well, thanks to you, I finally figured out how to pull it off! Check out SF3 and Ken's page. The only thing I wish I could figure out is how to remove that tiny gap between the cells that shows up in the silver background. Procyon (Talk) 15:24, 16 August 2007 (CDT)

lol, I'll give it a shot, but your code is a nightmare :) Thanks for the cellspacing tip, I forgot all about that. Looks so cool now! Procyon (Talk) 15:58, 16 August 2007 (CDT)
lol, I know, that's where I discovered the #vardefine (oh, I get it, you thought I saw it on the actual template page. I didn't bother to look at that until you created the Talk page.) Anyway, I see what you're trying to do, but it seems like you're using a bazooka to kill a fly. If you never worry about a guide that's been featured for more than 80 days, why would you care about leap years and stuff like that? I'm going to try to debug this for you and see what I get. Procyon (Talk) 16:12, 16 August 2007 (CDT)
OK, I found one of your problems. #expr does not like the traditional triple brace format on the parameters. So instead of referring to month as {{{month}}}, for example, you should refer to it as {{#var:month}} even though, you would imagine, they parse to the same exact thing. That's the only thing I've discovered so far. I'll let you know if I find more. Procyon (Talk) 16:23, 16 August 2007 (CDT)
Time out, I fixed it already. I will explain in a moment, I just want you to stop "fixing" it. Procyon (Talk) 17:02, 16 August 2007 (CDT)
I got an edit conflict with you, so I couldn't check what you did (sorry). Now that I've checked, looks good ^_^ (and works). Turns out that it was lacking default #switch values in declaring the vars (which you've figured out about 3 minutes before I did :P) --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 17:04, 16 August 2007 (CDT)
(edit conflict) OK. I was wrong about the #expr thing. That was the case for me because of the way I was debugging. I didn't have parameters, so I literally had to define month, day, and year. So naturally, the code I copied and pasted wouldn't work unless I changed the triple braces into #vars. So that was my mistake. However, the reason it was failing, was as follows: If you #vardefine a variable using a #switch, you have to supply a default value. If you don't, you erase the old definition. So when you #vardefined old and current based on whether it was a leap year, and 2007 is not, you were erasing old and current because you never said that if it's not a leap year, they should be defined as what they already equal. That fixed it. Take a look, the nomination color is active. Change the color values in the template for however many days it's been and it will work. All I did to debug was pop the code in a blank page, and print out the #vars every now and then to see what the values were. Procyon (Talk) 17:08, 16 August 2007 (CDT)

LttP[edit]

I'm playing the SNES version on emulation. Figured its easiest because I can just alt-tab over to the guide as I play through.--DukeRuckley 11:23, 19 August 2007 (CDT)

Thank for Telling Me[edit]

I'm going to try and explain what all went wrong (apparently very much).

I work a such a fast pace I don't pay enough attention to what I'm doing. I will slow down an use the Show Preview button more frequently (You can see under my user page that it says I am trying to make less frequent edits which I am going to stress harder). I will rename my recent images. If more issues surface over my work on the Mario Party games, I will drop the project completely. Remeber that I am still working on the Mario Kart series and will focus on it as well.

Sorry about any inconveniences. BTW, this is my new signature. --|Superpowered Mario (Talk|contribs)

Confirmed New Sig[edit]

This is it after being revised. The old one was just a test. The silver might be a little hard to see so I made it bold. (Old version of my sig altered, too)

New Skin[edit]

When you finish up, you should take a screenshot. I'd like to see how it came out!--DukeRuckley 18:28, 25 August 2007 (CDT)

Very slick!! Great work, Ryan! :) echelontalk 10:56, 26 August 2007 (CDT)
One bug The my real friends and my pages on your page turn out blue and you've got the wrong location to subst on the css file. Great work otherwise.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 10:59, 26 August 2007 (CDT)
And the tags at the side e.g {{wip}}. Also the infoboxes look a tiny bit weird , maybe a light orange colour? Anyway, great work!-RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions)
The stub Icon and sidebar also and I'm geiing a few css warnings in the error console with the ads now, something about an error parsing the value word-wrap and cursor.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 11:19, 26 August 2007 (CDT)
I'm fixing the stub/sidebar/article tag things as we speak, although the ads are outside of my control (they've always been like that anyway, surprised you're only getting them now). --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 11:26, 26 August 2007 (CDT)
Ok, the edit section links have gone wrong, they edit the section two places under it. BTW the ads seemed to stop with the errors some time ago, maybe it's just me...--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 11:34, 26 August 2007 (CDT)
Also, I noticed that the external link image hasn't got transparency, is it just me, you can see it on your licences.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 11:37, 26 August 2007 (CDT)
I think the section is because of the my friends is counted as a title and the external link has gone blue, also your fake link doesn't work now.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 11:41, 26 August 2007 (CDT)
Nevermind bout the links, it was a fake link, there is a problem with the sidebar on my user page that the links are purple but I think that has to do with the sitewide css.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 11:44, 26 August 2007 (CDT)
You might want to use one of theese images for the leaves, or the MapleStory one.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions)
I have no idea why the edit section is goofing up, the external link does not have transparency, my toolbox header thing is being revamped, and the purple is sitewide css that I'm just not bothering to change atm. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 11:52, 26 August 2007 (CDT)
Look at your sidebar, at the my friends header, that is why the edit section is goofing up.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 11:55, 26 August 2007 (CDT)
ATM the text is unreadable in the sidebar, is there w way to use IFEXIST to turn the links a different color if the talk page doesn't exist, maybe no change at all.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 11:56, 26 August 2007 (CDT)
Most of the errors have been fixed relating to the toolbox. -- Prod (Talk) 12:05, 26 August 2007 (CDT)

When do those other two you added get activated (where are they used?)? -- Prod (Talk) 13:15, 29 August 2007 (CDT)

Requesting your advice[edit]

Hello!

I would like to start a minimal strategy guide for RollerCoaster Tycoon 2. Is it ok to create a "Strategy" page with very little content for the moment? I thought I'd add some empty sections to make a draft, then slowly add content to it later. I'm unable to write an expanded guide at once. If I write very little content on the page for the moment, will it be deleted? I read the guidelines but I didn't found any rule against temporary drafts. What do you think? Thank you. --Cutter 11:22, 27 August 2007 (CDT)

Vandalism Warning[edit]

That was actually an accident. Let's just say I was rather tired... Basically, I went to edited the talk page of the user but forgot the "subst" part of the template. Then I have no idea how I managed this... But I went into the edit for the template itself and "fixed" my problem... Honestly, I have no idea what I did. Anyway, I saw my error and reverted the edit. Sorry about the confusion. I'll try and refrain from posting after a long day's work in the future. --DukeRuckley 07:20, 28 August 2007 (CDT)

I didn't type it by hand. O_O I use {{Subst: Vandalism Warning}}. That's probably why. --IsaacGS 11:59, 28 August 2007 (CDT)

Thanks for your input.[edit]

Yes, drivel is being removed, although it hurts, as I do love to drivel.<lol>

I need to delete the pages under "walkthrough" as I have moved them to headings under the "table of contents" and are now duplicative. I have broken each mission onto its own pages.

BUT...I don't know how to delete pages!! By chance, do you know how???

Thanks Karlcsr 10:56, 28 August 2007 (CDT)

Rookie question: What is "the sig guide" you referred to???? Karlcsr 11:09, 28 August 2007 (CDT)

Use Thumbs[edit]

Not frames, for instance the image on User talk:Frank2368 that you posted has no restrictions for size, thus "on the right" was innacurate. Anyways, you probably do for guides, just be careful when you're working with image sizes. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 18:52, 29 August 2007 (CDT)

Ummm... it IS on the right, you should know by now that nothing is as it should be on 800x600. Besides, it's a user talk page, not a guide page. Plus, a few guides here are geared for higher resolutions and they simply do not work on lower ones (such as 800x600). So just chill, will you? --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 18:58, 29 August 2007 (CDT)

Final Fantasy (NES)[edit]

On adding tips that I remember to have found on GameFAQs: Actually, I can't seem to find the specific user's FAQ. They did mention it on the public boards though. (the topics have since purged, but others repeat the information) Someone else seems to have put the trick into their FAQ (the illustrious BSulpher, who solely posts on GameFAQs) and included specific values. I did reword the tip though; only the general idea that Black Belts/Monks were superior to their upgraded Master class was written. Should that be OK? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pakopako (talkcontribs) .
