== Re: Welcome Back ==
== Ninja Gaiden walkthrough pages ==

Thanks, though my latest attempts were less than stellar. I've also been having issues trying to obtain a game I can actually write about. --[[User:Arrow|Arrow Windwhistler]] ([[User talk:Arrow|talk]]) 20:37, 9 February 2013 (UTC)

Needing a little template help. I'm attempting to create a template whereby I can generate a table like this one. I have a few ideas on my head but I'm not too hot on passing variables into a template to generate stuff like that dynamically. --[[User:Arrow|Arrow Windwhistler]] ([[User talk:Arrow|talk]]) 04:39, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

:I figured a template would be more scalable since it's likely to be repeated everywhere, but if you think copy+pasting is going to be more effective, I'll follow your advice. --[[User:Arrow|Arrow Windwhistler]] ([[User talk:Arrow|talk]]) 00:03, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

::These things are everywhere, I'll probably be generating similar tables for...well, about literally everything in the game. The current format leaves a bit to be desired in terms of layout, but hopefully it's good enough. --[[User:Arrow|Arrow Windwhistler]] ([[User talk:Arrow|talk]]) 04:13, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

:::I just thought - collapsible navboxes might help in condensing this information so it's more navigable. Would that be possible? --[[User:Arrow|Arrow Windwhistler]] ([[User talk:Arrow|talk]]) 04:14, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

::::In the game anyway, it's laid out like that so I'd want to keep the common ones and the class-specific ones together. That way you don't have to constantly switch between looking at the common ones to get an exact idea as to exactly what's available to a given class. --[[User:Arrow|Arrow Windwhistler]] ([[User talk:Arrow|talk]]) 04:43, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

::So you're suggesting one massive table instead of multiple larger ones like what I have now?--[[User:Arrow|Arrow Windwhistler]] ([[User talk:Arrow|talk]]) 04:55, 12 February 2013 (UTC)
:I'll try it but it looked cluttered before. Maybe it just doesn't register well on my screen. --[[User:Arrow|Arrow Windwhistler]] ([[User talk:Arrow|talk]]) 05:38, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

::[[PlanetSide_2/Classes#Infiltrator|It appears to be alright]], though it still feels a little cluttered. D'you think it looks fine? --[[User:Arrow|Arrow Windwhistler]] ([[User talk:Arrow|talk]]) 06:30, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

:::They're simply points you gain from playing the game. I think whenever it's listed though it appears like a currency, so in the spirit of consistency I decided to make everything look the same. --[[User:Arrow|Arrow Windwhistler]] ([[User talk:Arrow|talk]]) 07:20, 12 February 2013 (UTC)
:::P.S: The display also becomes inconsistent when the certification costs hit 1000.

::That was just an experiment in zebra striping. Trying to make it more legible. To put things simply, these certification points are essentially skill points you use to unlock additional skills. In light of that I was thinking of employing something like what MapleStory's skill descriptions look like. --[[User:Arrow|Arrow Windwhistler]] ([[User talk:Arrow|talk]]) 17:37, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

== Collapsible navs ==

I don't really understand how the whole collapsible part works, as seen [[Template:MapleStory/Skill_desc|here]]. I was thinking of making them more like that. Could you (try) to explain it to me? =P --[[User:Arrow|Arrow Windwhistler]] ([[User talk:Arrow|talk]]) 19:19, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

:I modified [[PlanetSide_2/Classes|this page]] again, this time with a collapsible layout with what you gave me; I'm divided as to what's better. What's your opinion? --[[User:Arrow|Arrow Windwhistler]] ([[User talk:Arrow|talk]]) 04:20, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

::That's a good point, it's just that the current layout with the tables makes it look somewhat ugly. I was thinking of trying to expand the table downwards, not really sideways, and collapsible bars seemed to do that for MapleStory. I could try subpaging each of the certifications, if it's acceptable to have sub-subpages. I don't know what that'd do to the table of contents, though. --[[User:Arrow|Arrow Windwhistler]] ([[User talk:Arrow|talk]]) 16:46, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

== Future Perion ==

I'm going to upload the info for Future Perion monsters, which were just released in KMS Tespia. I'll edit them when needed.
--[[User:PirateIzzy|PirateIzzy]] ([[User talk:PirateIzzy|talk]]) 05:08, 15 February 2013 (UTC)

Do you mind if I remove the fake bosses from the boss page? I think it could use more space. Also, didn't you tell me before that I could add monsters that will be added to GMS in the future?--[[User:PirateIzzy|PirateIzzy]] ([[User talk:PirateIzzy|talk]]) 00:13, 10 March 2013 (UTC)

== Quests ==

I was wondering if I should separate each quest page by town, or if I should just leave them by continent. What would you suggest? --[[User:PirateIzzy|PirateIzzy]] ([[User talk:PirateIzzy|talk]]) 20:39, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

Here's my proposal for the Orbis quest page, just as an example:[[User:PirateIzzy/Orbis]]

== Re: JMS/Edit Protection ==
Thanks for the heads up :D About the JMS level cap: the cap was increased to level 250 and the maximum damage was raised to 49999999 (~50m). Since most of the KMS events like Jump, Champions and Unlimited never actually came to JMS, I believe it's appropriate to add individual features that have been implemented from those updates in the individual descriptions until everything is implemented. If the description just reads "Root Abyss only" then visitors can't distinguish the JMS description from TMS and GMS descriptions. == Preload buttons ==
Another addition would be for "Category: [Game Name] images". [[User:Paco|Paco]] ([[User talk:Paco|talk]]) 12:39, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
:No interest in doing it or did you forgot it? [[User:Paco|Paco]] ([[User talk:Paco|talk]]) 12:07, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

== Dragon Warrior III ==
Can you check Goon on [[Dragon Warrior III/Enemies]]? The GBC Name "Goon" isn't bolded like the other names. [[User:Paco|Paco]] ([[User talk:Paco|talk]]) 12:39, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
:Odd, I don't remember that issue being there before. In the source code it is showing:
<pre><td>'<i>Goon'</i><b>/Henchman</b></td></pre>
The template is set up to create the following:
<pre><td><b>Goon</b><b>/Henchman</b></td></pre>
:I will continue to mess around with it. Also note that I reported it in Staff lounge regarding the new mediawiki upgrade. --{{User:Notmyhandle/Sig}} 04:01, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
::Looks like an extra character fixed it... Not actually sure of the problem but my latest change to the template fixed it. --{{User:Notmyhandle/Sig}} 04:12, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
:::No wonder you can't remember the issue before, because it showed up just yesterday when i added some GBC-Info along with the GBC Name for that monster. I saw the error the first time too. Since the Template is too complicated for me i just reported it to you. Thanks for fixing it.  [[User:Paco|Paco]] ([[User talk:Paco|talk]]) 17:47, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
::::Oh, ahaha. Yeah I'm glad I could figure it out. The fix I implemented needs to happen sometimes, so take a look and keep it in mind. Basically, mediawiki needs an extra character, like a space, to tell it to do things correctly, and the <nowiki><nowiki></nowiki></nowiki> tags basically break up the coding to make it think that a character will be in between there, but since we don't put one in it works. The reason we don't want to simply use a space (which may have fixed it), is because the space would appear on the page, pushing the name to the right and making it look unaligned. --{{User:Notmyhandle/Sig}} 17:54, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
:There's a lot of mix between table syntax and template syntax in that template.  This can often cause weird issues to show up.  Sometimes you need to switch to using {{t|!}} or proper <nowiki><td></nowiki> tags to get it to work right. -- [[User:Prod|Prod]] ([[User talk:Prod|talk]]) 19:34, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

=== GBC-only Monster ===

I have now added the last monsters which exist solely on GBC, so i need your help to edit it so that only the GBC-image is showing and the SNES-image not. While you're at it, can you also fill in the japanese names of those monsters? I'm almost finished with [[Dragon Warrior 3]]. [[User:Paco|Paco]] ([[User talk:Paco|talk]]) 14:23, 22 September 2013 (UTC)

== [[Ultima 5]]: completion stage 4 ==

Hi NotMyHandle. I think I brought the guide for Ultima 5 to completion stage 4. Can you check if I forgot something?

I think I pretty much wrote the guide completely by myself. Is there a cookie for this? :-) --[[User:Abacos|Abacos]] ([[User talk:Abacos|talk]]) 16:28, 14 May 2013 (UTC)

: Sorry if I didn't wait and set it to stage 4 by myself. I was excited at the idea of having completed a guide. I created the guide from zero after I started playing Ultima 5, because I found out that existing guides on the web didn't satisfy me. I can add more images when I'll replay the game. Should it be put back to Stage 3 because of the lack of images? Actually, there are several images (mostly maps) in the Dungeons pages, so I should just add some about the "surface" pages. Characters have no portraits, most spell effects are just a flash, most items are just "name & quantity"... It was the Eighties, after all!
: Me an obsessive-compulsive type? Absolutely yes! :-D --[[User:Abacos|Abacos]] ([[User talk:Abacos|talk]]) 11:53, 17 May 2013 (UTC)

== Event Monsters ==

I'm planning to revamp the Event Monsters page, but I'm going to merge the GMS and non-GMS ones together. Also, I'm going to remove the level header.
--[[User:PirateIzzy|PirateIzzy]] ([[User talk:PirateIzzy|talk]]) 03:46, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
:I think i know what he mean. For example there is Level 4 bar above "Book Monster" and Level 5 bar below it. Such Bars are useless, since Levels often change. [[User:Paco|Paco]] ([[User talk:Paco|talk]]) 10:34, 4 June 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, basically what Paco said. --[[User:PirateIzzy|PirateIzzy]] ([[User talk:PirateIzzy|talk]]) 22:13, 4 June 2013 (UTC)

== Question ==

Just wondering, is it possible that I can delete pictures and such for myself without being an admin? I'd find it more convenient.
--[[User:PirateIzzy|PirateIzzy]] ([[User talk:PirateIzzy|talk]]) 22:41, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Well, it's not like I was planning to do that, especially since I updated most of the MapleStory database. It just makes me feel like a low man on a totem pole, since I can't just do it myself and have to get the higher ups to do it. But whatever.

== Von Leon ==

For LKC, there are several quest lines. One involves Krag asking you to get to the fourth tower, which involves breakin the seals, and then asking for several other things. Another one involves helping Ifia try to talk to Von Leon, which eventually leads to fighting Prison Guard Ani, who is considered the boss of the theme dungeon part. The other involves Luden asking you to kill Grey Vultures, and to enter Von Leon and defeat him once and for all. The thing is, it's separate from the theme dungeon, but you need to do several of the theme dungeon quests in order to start the Von Leon prequests. Also, the only fight with Von Leon is with the giant lion. When you see him as a human, it's because when you first summon him, he appears as a human, and then transforms into his lion form. However you want to place it is up to you, but I personally consider it a non-theme dungeon fight.

Alright, I can do that.

== Training Locations ==

I'm just wondering, instead of training locations for each job, should I just put them all on the Training Locations page? There really aren't a lot of special maps for certain jobs anymore, since all jobs can benefit from them.
--[[User:PirateIzzy|PirateIzzy]] ([[User talk:PirateIzzy|talk]]) 00:23, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

Alright, but should I place the mobs there with Choice A, like they're placed on a table, like this for example:

{{MapleStory/Training location|Orbis Tower 3rd floor|=
|Dark Leatty (Lv 33, 1100HP, 65xp, weak to holy)
|Pretty much none.
|All physical classes level 40+.
|For some reasons, this place is faster than kitties
Dark Leatties have worse accuracy
|Less money
Dark Leatties do more damage than Kitties
|Eh, works well as a bore-breaker for Kitties I guess. The profit is poor, but you're training at the same rate or faster than kitties at least.
}}

...or B, should I just keep it the way it is on the Thief page, like this:

*Level 30-35: Mushroom Kingdom. By completing all the quests there, you not only level up while doing the quests, you also get quite a large amount of EXP. Doing so, you should be able to get to 35 pretty fast!
--[[User:PirateIzzy|PirateIzzy]] ([[User talk:PirateIzzy|talk]]) 03:11, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

Alright, once I can get to it, I will.

Okay, thanks. I'll be done with Orbis NPCs soon, since I'm currently working on that.

Makes me wish Isaac still used this website. Would you be able to edit images if I provided them?
--[[User:PirateIzzy|PirateIzzy]] ([[User talk:PirateIzzy|talk]]) 00:54, 17 August 2013 (UTC)

I don't exactly have screenshots, since I don't play Maple anymore, but rather images on my computer/websites. I'll see what I can do with GIMP, and whatever I can't do, I'll send to you.

Just finished with Octo-Cannon. Wasn't easy, but I did it. As for the others, I may need help.
--[[User:PirateIzzy|PirateIzzy]] ([[User talk:PirateIzzy|talk]]) 18:31, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

The main problem I have when editing is when the sprite has an aura surrounding it, since I have to pick out each individual color to remove. Any insight on that?
--[[User:PirateIzzy|PirateIzzy]] ([[User talk:PirateIzzy|talk]]) 21:58, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

I do it as a service to this site. I recall you telling me that Paco doesn't play Maple, am I right? Yet he does help out with it from time to time (besides deleting images).
I also don't get why this game changed into a mainly-GMS guide. I remember years ago, the main reason I used to visit this site a lot to see what monsters were released in other versions, new or old, and what monsters could possibly be released in GMS's future. But now, it's off to Maple Wikia for that.
And if only you told me about the items BEFORE I uploaded them.

== Major Changes ==

First things first, do you mind editing the quest template so it looks like this:
*Maple Island, Edelstein, Victoria Island, El Nath Mts. & Aqua Road, Ludus Lake, Ellin Forest, Mu Lung Garden, Nihal Desert, Minar Forest, Temple of Time, Gate to the Future, [[#MapleStory/Theme_Dungeon_quests|Theme Dungeons]], Silent Crusade, Masteria, World Tour, Malaysia and Singapore. Oh, and remove that theme dungeon section that directs to the towns (Mushroom Castle, Kerning Square, Neo City, and Chryse)
*The thing is, I'm not entirely sure if Ellin Forest counts as a theme dungeon. I mean, I recall the level-up guide referring to it as that, as well as several other sources, but I'm not sure.

*Anyway, I can see what you mean about the scope. I will miss looking at this site for the new monsters, though. As for event items, I never cared much about them anyway. I uploaded all the Shining Rods, and was planning to upload other weapons and equips. I know that if I leave, there will be a lot less updated content, so I stick around to help out, for now anyway. As for the last updated column, feel free. I personally just want the content to stay updated, which I can do thanks to Fiel (formerly) and Locked (currently) of Southperry. I don't care about having my name plastered, I just want to see the content updated. Doesn't mean others are the same, though, so go right ahead.

*You should definitely combine food and potions. The only reason they're separate is their item ID, in my opinion. But other than that, they serve pretty much the same purpose, to heal/buff people. You could call the new page "Recovery and Buff Items" or something.
--[[User:PirateIzzy|PirateIzzy]] ([[User talk:PirateIzzy|talk]]) 18:09, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

*That works for me. I could just make one page and list all monsters there, possibly separated by version. It would still be nice if you did the quest template change I listed above though.
--[[User:PirateIzzy|PirateIzzy]] ([[User talk:PirateIzzy|talk]]) 19:27, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

*Oh, I didn't even know I could edit it myself. I asked to remove the Theme Dungeons section that lead to towns, which is this part of the current TOC:
<br />'''Theme Dungeons:''' [[MapleStory/Mushroom Castle|Mushroom Castle]] | [[MapleStory/Kerning Square Shopping Center|Kerning Square Shopping Center]] | [[MapleStory/Floating Island of Chryse|Floating Island of Chryse]] | [[MapleStory/Neo City|Neo City]]

*I created a separate page for all theme dungeon quests, which is the Theme Dungeon quest page I mentioned earlier. I moved all the existing theme dungeon quests to that page. As for the order, I prefer it by their area, rather than alphabetical. As for Ellin Forest, I'll proceed to move all the quests and then put a deletion notice on that page, since it seems like a theme dungeon to me.
--[[User:PirateIzzy|PirateIzzy]] ([[User talk:PirateIzzy|talk]]) 23:04, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

Speaking of Major Changes, I was thinking of changing the Elemental List. Instead of having it by "Resistant to X, Weak to X, Resistant to Y, Weak to Y", just list the monsters and their weaknesses next to it. Like this:

* [[MapleStory/Monsters/Level 51-60#Pinboom|Pinboom]]: Fire Strong
* [[MapleStory/Monsters/Level 51-60#Seacle|Seacle]]: Fire Strong, Poison Weak
* [[MapleStory/Monsters/Level 51-60#Krappi|Krappi]]: Fire Strong, Poison Weak
* [[MapleStory/Monsters/Level 51-60#Cico|Cico]]: Fire Strong, Poison Weak
* [[MapleStory/Monsters/Level 51-60#Bubble Fish|Bubble Fish]]: Fire Strong, Lightning Weak, Poison Weak
* [[MapleStory/Monsters/Level 61-70#Flower Fish|Flower Fish]]: Poison Strong, Fire Strong, Ice Weak

People looking for particular weaknesses could always use the find function on their browsers.
--[[User:PirateIzzy|PirateIzzy]] ([[User talk:PirateIzzy|talk]]) 21:42, 29 August 2013 (UTC)

I was thinking of making it like the complete monster list, with elemental resistances/weaknesses listed. I could possibly merge the two.
--[[User:PirateIzzy|PirateIzzy]] ([[User talk:PirateIzzy|talk]]) 18:19, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

== Archives and Bots ==

Just two questions:
*1. How do I archive my talk page?
*2. I've noticed for a long time that several people use bots to accomplish certain tasks for them. I'm wondering, how do they work, and if it's possible that one could be used to update pages (i.e. updating the Complete Monster List whenever a new monster gets added/removed from a certain page).
--[[User:PirateIzzy|PirateIzzy]] ([[User talk:PirateIzzy|talk]]) 02:37, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

I'll try to figure the archiving out another time. As for bots, I doubt I'll get admin privileges any time soon, but it'd still be nice to find out if it's even possible to do what I mentioned.
--[[User:PirateIzzy|PirateIzzy]] ([[User talk:PirateIzzy|talk]]) 18:03, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

All done.
--[[User:PirateIzzy|PirateIzzy]] ([[User talk:PirateIzzy|talk]]) 00:53, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

Okay, got it. Thank you very much.
--[[User:PirateIzzy|PirateIzzy]] ([[User talk:PirateIzzy|talk]]) 16:26, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

== MediaWiki patch ==

I had to disable MultiUpload, so figured I'd enable this immediately. I still need to tell it to not show the tutorial since that wants to pull it from commons, which isn't relevant for us.  The notifications extension is called [[MW:Extension:Echo]]. -- [[User:Prod|Prod]] ([[User talk:Prod|talk]]) 20:55, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

== Shields/Off-Hand ==

Alright, I'll disperse what's currently on the page to Mihile, Demons, and the rest. Might as well put something there.
--[[User:PirateIzzy|PirateIzzy]] ([[User talk:PirateIzzy|talk]]) 04:47, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

The way I plan to do it depends on the weapon. If a weapon is used by multiple jobs, I'll link the equipment page to the respective weapon page. If a weapon is used by one job, it will stay on that page. I'm not sure what to do about common shields, though. I might separate each shield by job type, but I'll do it tomorrow. And thanks. I guess someone had to take over for IsaacGS. His storyline thread on Southperry is a lasting legacy.

== Mass Effect 3. ==

Hello.

I have to say at this point, I'm going to have a mammoth task in trying to turn this "nothing" guide into something (in simple terms). I currently have a Wii U, a Prima Guide of this game and a Wii U version of this game. The reason I'm typing to you because me alone isn't going to work too well. But I'll keep going since it's just the beginning. If you (or anyone else) can help me with this guide, I'll be happy to put as much effort as I can since I can't risk pictures that has watermarks on it.

If you don't mind, can you link me to the Wii U button template since I haven't done the controls yet. Lastly, it's already on the "Collaberation of the month". Sign up if you want. I won't force you.

Thank you. [[User:Johnnyauau2000|Johnnyauau2000]] ([[User talk:Johnnyauau2000|talk]]) 12:05, 2 November 2013 (UTC)

== Monster Template ==

Is there a way to change the monster template so that it displays Fixed Damage (when a monster always takes a specific amount of damage, no more, no less) under the Monster Info section, but only if listed in the template? (eg where the HP, MP, PDR, etc are listed)? Or would I just have to write it in the notes? {{unsigned|PirateIzzy}}.

:{{user|PirateIzzy}}: just put it in the notes. That is a rare behavior. I have only seen it a handful of times. --{{User:Notmyhandle/Sig}} 19:56, 2 November 2013 (UTC)

Alright. By rare behavior, do you mean me forgetting my signature, or about the Monster Template? If it's the former, sorry about that.
--[[User:PirateIzzy|PirateIzzy]] ([[User talk:PirateIzzy|talk]]) 19:21, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

:{{user|PirateIzzy}}: No don't worry about the sig, aha. I was not going to discuss that. I just fix it for people when they forget. I mean, there's no reason to add it to the template unless we add it as an optional parameter, but it is easier to add/edit in the details section. Who knows, maybe there will be a monster with two types of fixed damage at some point. I mean, this isn't common in the game, and to have to look up a parameter name for it would be a waste of time and make it harder for anonymous editors to correct info. --{{User:Notmyhandle/Sig}} 18:30, 4 November 2013 (UTC)

Alright, I'll put the quests at the bottom of each theme dungeon page. What about the Victoria Island page? That's pretty huge too.

:Well, that could work, but you could make it 30-60 for 2nd, 60-100 for 3rd, and 100-200 for 4th, since those are the proper job advancement ranges.
:We could also focus on organizing them by town, though.

::Alright, fair enough. Also, how come you changed several bumps to the Phantom skill page? Several of the skills' level data aren't lined up properly (e.g. Phantom Swiftness and Impeccable Memory I), at least from my perspective with the dolphin theme.

::We could probably do the single column layout, even though I also like the 2 column layout. It probably wouldn't be a good idea, since most of us voted on the 2-column one.
::I have decided that the Active Hyper skills will be in the singular column layout, however. Most of them have too many variables to fit on 2 per column.

:::It could work, but I'm happy with 1 per column too. And really? It would be sweet, since I wouldn't have to rely on others to delete images and stuff for me (mostly Paco). The reason why I moved the Genesis passwords to the right side is because I think the SNES version (with a 16-bit remake of [[NES]] [[Ms. Pac-Man]]) may well have been developed first, and the Genesis version (with the new Pac-Jr.) came later; I did not know that when it comes to multiple systems, they have to be displayed alphabetically. i'm numbers and not letters so i can't create a page :(

i feel that renaming the image to 'famicom' is in error in some way, for a few reasons: we should be using 'family computer' if anything, but really we should be treating 'family computer' as a default, because that's the original (correct) name of the system above all others... any 'north american-' or 'european-only' game is still a 'family computer' game. in any event, it doesn't make sense to cordon off non-japanese releases as 'nes' games when it's all the same platform.

i'm also curious as to why the italic marks for the game's title were removed... i assume it's a strategy wiki standard to not do that? the thing is, from what i understand, it's a standard of english itself that the names of works (and things like newspapers) are to be italicized in print.

I'm planning to focus on Warriors first, then move from left to right (Magicians, Bowmen, etc). You could work from right to left (starting with Pirate) if you plan to help. I'll use the Yes and No templates later on, and make a template with them, similar to the availability charts.

Yes means that section is completely converted to the new format and updated with RED, No is obvious, and Partial means that some skills are, but not all. I'm using it for RAP's new format as well, and which skills have/haven't been converted. Speaking of which, do you know what happened to RAP? I haven't seen him for more than a month.

: Thanks! Yes, I am familiar with wikis, though StrategyWiki has some stuff I haven't seen before. The 3DS version is pretty much a port of the original game, except with the addition of a 3D feature. I'll see if I can introduce sections; would getting "keys" (Key Glyphs) and opening "locks" (Barrier Glyphs) be appropriate sections? I've added headers and footers to the other pages I've made. Thanks for putting me on the right track. --[[User:Poppy Appletree|Poppy Appletree]] ([[User talk:Poppy Appletree|talk]]) 00:52, 3 January 2014 (UTC)

::Yeah that sounds about right. Wherever there is a significant gate, a header makes sense to break up the text. These spaces make it way easier to read through a guide. Also, after 3 headers are present on a page, the table of contents will appear, which is a handy tool I assume you have used before to skip down to the part of the page you want to be at. Can you take screenshots with the 3DS? That would be really helpful, too. Note that since you will be the first author for Ecco, and it will be from the 3DS' perspective, later on Genesis players may add in the pertinent information for that version. It is difficult to keep version differences noted, but it is important so we will do our best. At some point a version differences page may be helpful to point out the major nuances. Minor details in the walkthrough can often be noted with {{t|sidebar}} if you know how to use templates. --{{User:Notmyhandle/Sig}} 01:09, 3 January 2014 (UTC)

::: You can take screenshots using the Miiverse feature, which can be taken and uploaded to the wiki by accessing Miiverse via a computer. I'm not totally sure if this is allowed according to the terms Nintendo states, so I'll put that to you. The Nintendo Network Agreement is [http://microsite.nintendo-europe.com/terms/wiiu/index.html here]; it's discussed under User-Generated Content. At any rate, my main issue is maps. I've used StrategyWiki a lot before, which is why I decided to add some pages after realising Ecco was lacking pages. When I've used StrategyWiki, I've always found the maps it has very useful, but I don't know how I would get/make maps for Ecco. During play, you can get small map segments by using Ecco's Echolocation ability, but it would be a huge amount of work to edit screenshots of them together due to how small they are. I'm not actually the first contributor to Ecco; [[User:Sigma 7|Sigma 7]] added some pages before I did. I don't think there are any content differences between Ecco 3D and the original, though I know the PC version is different. --[[User:Poppy Appletree|Poppy Appletree]] ([[User talk:Poppy Appletree|talk]]) 01:37, 3 January 2014 (UTC)

:::: I've added my first Ecco image. I'll try to take more, but it's fairly time-consuming to take and upload them. I'm a bit at a loss as to how to explain Welcome to the Machine, since as an auto-scrolling level it doesn't lend itself well to simple directions. Also, I'm wondering how to fix the main [[Ecco the Dolphin]] page's level list: The list lacks The Last Fight (the end boss stage) and also omits redux levels, such as two (Deep Water, City of Forever) that occur between Dark Water and The Tube. Hey NMH.  In the relatively close future, I will be working on the guide for Ninja Gaiden (unfortunately, I have to get through the NES version of Godzilla first...)  One thing weird that I noticed was that the arcade version of [[Ninja Gaiden]] (which is distinct from the NES version) just has two walkthrough pages for Act V and Act VI, which you put there in February of last year.  However, these walkthrough pages are for the NES version.  You put them there so I just wanted to double check with you about them.  Oddly enough, the NES guide is missing two pages, but their for act 4 and 5, not 5 and 6, which means there will be a collision on 6, and 4 will still be empty, which is fine with me, I just wanted to get some clarification on things before I proceed.  Thanks man.  '''[[User:Procyon|<span style="color:red">Pro</span>]][[User talk:Procyon|<span style="color:grey">cyon</span>]]''' 23:17, 19 April 2015 (UTC)

Wow, that is a daunting amount of unpatrolled edits. Is it necessary to patrol them all, or can we give more trusted editors a pass? When there are multiple unpatrolled edits for a single page, do we need to patrol every one of them or just the most recent edit, skimming the page to ensure nothing is wrong?

:I was going to add a whole new "Thank You" section, but I figured this one would suffice ;)  Thanks for promoting the guides to featured.  I had anticipated that I would have time to check them out, but as usual, things didn't work out the way I had planned. I love fatherhood, but man... it's tough sometimes.  I would have supported the guides, they both look very good (although it would be ''really'' cool if it were possible to have floor plans for Portal, but that's probably a difficult accomplishment.)  Anyway, thanks for nominating [[Bionic Commando (NES)]]. Lastly, does quality control concern factual information or just grammar and writing style? I patrolled early when I became a sysop, but noticed that there are a lot of edits I can't really verify the truth of due to having never played the game in question. == Congratulations ==

I've added in the rest of the 3D Classics games. As an interesting point, only the Nintendo releases have the "3D Classics" logo, but they are all included in the eShop under the category "Classics remade in 3D". It's obviously the same series, and the Sega games [http://www.joystiq.com/2013/11/29/new-nintendo-eshop-releases-sega-3d-classics-mario-games-sale/ have been referred to as "3D Classics"], but I suspect that "3D Classics" might be a Nintendo-specific branding. The Sega games all have "3D" placed at the front of their names (not at the back, as I thought), and have [http://www.segadriven.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/3Dsonic1.jpg a logo of their own]. I'm not sure how you want to handle this, but from where I'm sitting both sets are 3D Classics and could be labelled as such, though the actual branding seems to be split between the two publishers. --[[User:Poppy Appletree|Poppy Appletree]] ([[User talk:Poppy Appletree|talk]]) 07:22, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

:Wow, thank you, Proc! That was a great surprise and reward for logging in today. I know there are some hidden functions around here but I probably won't use them much. It will take me a while to get used to not having someone above me in the wiki! :D Yeah I think a bunch of the guys would like to do more, but in some cases they aren't willing to step up without some encouragement, so the more we can talk to them the more valuable they will be to the project. It's hard to change people from one activity to another so I don't want to try that (e.g. with Namcorules, Onderduiker, or Tedium; they do what they do and they do it well). If they think they could use deletion powers for their projects, then we can consider it, but for the most part we should just work with our active admins at the moment until we see any new ones come up. I was hoping Rod would turn into an admin eventually but... well we know how that went. --{{User:Notmyhandle/Sig}} 18:15, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

I'm glad my work is appreciated. Right now, I'm playing with three memories in parallel to use 6 different characters (see the screenshots). Elnard is a hard game, and the [[The 7th Saga/The Wizard Rune|9th chapter]] is especially frustrating. When I got to Valenca (September) I got tired of the necessary grinding, paused and played through Final Fantasy 3, then went back grinding, then I got "grinded out" again (January) and unlocked 6 mini-games in Mega Man Zero 4, now I'm back at it again... Hi NMH.  I think based on the whole VC vs. non-VC discussion we've been having recently, it isn't necessarily correct to classify 3D classics as VC titles.  Basically, they strip out the background and reproduce it, typically at a higher resolution, and code it to appear in 3D using the 3DS stereoscopic screen.  Unlike the VC titles which are virtually unchanged from their original release, these are pretty substantial code changes, even though the gameplay is essentially exactly the same.  You can see the effect [http://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/Jh-8m_ayxVBEk4JRbFVlOY1CThV5Nm1H here].  It's pretty impressive actually.  '''[[User:Procyon|<span style="color:red">Pro</span>]][[User talk:Procyon|<span style="color:grey">cyon</span>]]''' 18:18, 22 April 2015 (UTC)

Hey there, I've been away for a while since my classes started back up. I was wondering what to do about pages which suggest sub-optimal strategies. I think you saw that I inserted a note into the Thunderbird fight in [[Zelda II]]'s Great Palace, where the author appeared unaware that the use of the ''Reflect'' spell made the fight substantially easier. That was just a case of adding in a detail that had been missed, but I need your input about more radical changes.
:Yeah I'm with you on that. I watched a couple of videos to see how the games are loaded and how it looks. I've also identified two sources that talks about feature changes (which I need to add to the page). I made the assertion, in response to Tedium's edit, in an effort to get us to start thinking about this issue (I was not 100% sure about it). It's its own software (when you're on the 3DS menu to select a game, Virtual Console games have a little subtitle on their icon; the same for 3D Classics, but a different subtitle). Technically it would have its own category, like Nintendo 3DS 3D Classics, as a software 'type'. I know that's not really a thing, but as far as we're concerned, it's on the 3DS, it's not in the 3DS VC list of games, and we have a 3D Classics category, so, with it in the 3DS system category that's fine. The distinction I am having a problem with, then, is why the Virtual Console gets its own ''system'' category, but say, 3D Classics does not? Sure the VC is an emulator, but do we really care about the sub-rendering engines of each console? What if a console has two different emulators, or 100 for thought's sake, are we going to have multiple ''system'' categories for this console? I would rather have all games in the console's category (since it can be legitimately played on that console) and have the release groups in a non-system category (the way {{c|3D Classics}} is). I hate to suggest more changes - the whole VC thing makes me tired. --{{User:Notmyhandle/Sig}} 22:51, 22 April 2015 (UTC)

I've just finished the first Mega Man game, and while I didn't really make that much use of a guide, when I checked the page here I found its advice quite poor. For example, the strategies recommended for the string of four boss fights in [[Mega Man/Wily Fortress 4]] give a very low chance of success and are likely to cause extreme frustration. As such, I'm wondering what the appropriate course of action would be. Should I talk to the author about it, or is it acceptable to simply rewrite the guide with a better strategy? --[[User:Poppy Appletree|Poppy Appletree]] ([[User talk:Poppy Appletree|talk]]) 21:52, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

: The guide is also written in a fashion which avoids telling you the weaknesses of the bosses. I'm not sure how I feel about that, since this is a strategy site, and that decision impairs the value of the guide for the later stages where the Robot Monsters are faced again, particularly in the section I noted. --[[User:Poppy Appletree|Poppy Appletree]] ([[User talk:Poppy Appletree|talk]]) 21:55, 19 January 2014 (UTC)
==Neutral POV Response==

It's cool to be able to push yourself above and beyond, but guides are about just allowing the player to beat the game. I think an important part of writing a guide is not assuming the player has boundless skill, and providing the least skill-intensive strategy. Alternative strategies are something I could do, but a few of the strategies just need to be scrapped.
Hello Notmyhandle. No problem, glad to help. I didn't know about that article, so I had to read through it. I was just going by what it says in the guide here about using a neutral point of view. I don't remember the specifics of all my edits, but hopefully they all adhere to the standards. I'll definitely try to make helpful edits in the future. [[User:Ramza66|Ramza66]] ([[User talk:Ramza66|talk]]) 08:00, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

Since you're familiar with the series, I'll detail my issues. In [[Mega Man/Wily Fortress 4]], the guide at current suggests ''dodging'' Ice Man's attacks, which is utterly absurd. There is basically no space to dodge Ice Man's attacks in the second fight, and a single hit from Ice Man does massive damage. Due to the set-up of the room, it's far more sensible to stand near the teleporter, fire the Thunder Beam at Ice Man repeatedly, and then get in the teleporter before his first wave of attacks hits you. Since he takes only three hits to kill, you can wipe him out in around three seconds with this strategy, which takes no skill and has the player take no damage.
==Youkai watch to Yo-Kai Watch==
Hello Notmyhandle, I was wondering if you can teach me something, how to move pages to there rightfully name like Youkai Watch is actually called Yo-Kai Watch I just need help to move the page without removing the walkthrough section. If you can't help out I can ask someone else. -- [[User:RodKimble|RodKimble]] ([[User talk:RodKimble|talk]]) 17:43, 13 November 2015 (UTC)

With regards to the fight with Fire Man, the strategy it suggests is wholly unclear. What I found to be the best strategy was completely ignoring defence and rushing into him firing. It's so difficult to avoid being hit that you end up taking less damage not trying to dodge at all.
: The real game name is Youkai Watch. I have translated Youkai properly before (see my user page under romanizations). Here it is again: 妖怪 -> ようかい -> Youkai (yo, u, ka, i) --{{User:Notmyhandle/Sig}} 08:15, 10 December 2015 (UTC)

[[Mega Man/Wily Fortress 2]] also offers a poor strategy against the Mega Clone. I found the best strategy was to simply stand to the side and spam the Mega Buster at the Mega Clone. Since it's far more interested in jumping towards you, and rarely shoots back, constantly shooting it keeps it away from you and allows you to kill it without any hassle. In contrast, the suggested strategy of using the Fire Storm is far more skill-intensive, not to mention risky. --[[User:Poppy Appletree|Poppy Appletree]] ([[User talk:Poppy Appletree|talk]]) 03:29, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

Hi Notmyhandle. How do you do? I was recently nominated for administrator. Can I ask you to give your opinion? It is [[StrategyWiki:Requests_for_permissions/Abacos|here]]. --[[User:Abacos|Abacos]] ([[User talk:Abacos|talk]]) 10:06, 9 February 2016 (UTC)

Unfortunately, I've just passed my copy of this onto my sister, so I can't go through the game (again) and write up a guide, but I have a screenshot from when I was playing the game of all of the items in the inventory. Would this be a good thing to upload? It might be quite helpful from a completion perspective, since there's a few things you could overlook. --[[User:Poppy Appletree|Poppy Appletree]] ([[User talk:Poppy Appletree|talk]]) 04:12, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

Hey NMH, I apologize, but I deleted some of the weirder permutations of MS-DOS.  Part of it was I couldn't understand when someone might capitalize the O or the S, but not anything else.  But the other part of it has to do with what people see when they start typing in the search bar and what they see as an auto-complete suggestion.  I typed "MS" and got flooded with variations on the same thing, and I wanted that to be a nicer experience.  Let me know your thoughts on how to handle this better. Thanks!  '''[[User:Procyon|<span style="color:red">Pro</span>]][[User talk:Procyon|<span style="color:grey">cyon</span>]]''' 18:16, 24 April 2019 (UTC)

This maintenance was all for the latest version of MediaWiki, 1.22.2.  It looks like there's a few bugs left to fix (like you'll notice the new user message looks terrible...).  We'll also need to create a bunch of messages about logging on. I'm wondering if those can just point to something in our current guide. Let me know if you see any other weirdness on the site. -- [[User:Prod|Prod]] ([[User talk:Prod|talk]]) 18:54, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
:I wasn't aware that redirects populate the auto-suggestion table. Perhaps we can prevent redirects from appearing there? Anyways, no worries. Just doing my redirect creation duty where I can see possible. I believe the previous consensus was to create all permutations of misspellings, though common sense dictates we only create redirects for pages that editors actually mistype. Categories like MS-DOS are less important compared to permutations of game names and their many abbreviations and acronyms. --{{User:Notmyhandle/Sig}} 18:42, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
:That's due to caching by the CDN which lasts for a very long time. I'm working on a script that triggers a cache clear on the CDN for files that are freshly uploadedThis is why deleting the file doesn't even get rid of it. The only place that the files are accurately displayed is archived versions of the files in the history (not the latest version which keeps the same filename). -- [[User:Prod|Prod]] ([[User talk:Prod|talk]]) 02:10, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
::I hadn't thought about the search suggestions issue, and that's probably the best option. ::The script for clearing the CDN on file upload is now live.  This will clear the cache for the original file itself (if you click through to the actual file).  Thumbnail cache needs to be cleared a different way, and doesn't seem to be agreeing with me, so it'll be a little longer. -- [[User:Prod|Prod]] ([[User talk:Prod|talk]]) 09:40, 2 February 2014 (UTC)

Hello (and thanks for thanking a different edit I made recently): Regarding the change I made recently, I'm not sure what the intended meaning of the parenthetical note is. Is the meaning that Pokémon Blue is a remake of Green? The grammar seems hard for me to understand, so if you're able to explain to me the meaning that it's trying to convey, maybe I could make it clearer for others who may not understand. Thanks! —[[User:The Sackinator|The Sackinator]] ([[User talk:The Sackinator|talk]]) 03:18, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

Ninja Gaiden walkthrough pages[edit]

Hey NMH. In the relatively close future, I will be working on the guide for Ninja Gaiden (unfortunately, I have to get through the NES version of Godzilla first...) One thing weird that I noticed was that the arcade version of Ninja Gaiden (which is distinct from the NES version) just has two walkthrough pages for Act V and Act VI, which you put there in February of last year. Thanks man. Procyon 23:17, 19 April 2015 (UTC)

Completely different games. Like, even more distinct than Double Dragon and Double Dragon (NES). Other than the fact that the main character is a ninja, they have very little in common. Ninja Gaiden arcade has more resemblance to Final Fight. Hardcodegaming101 has an incredible write up on the series. Procyon 02:00, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

Patrolling edits[edit]

Wow, that is a daunting amount of unpatrolled edits. Is it necessary to patrol them all, or can we give more trusted editors a pass? When there are multiple unpatrolled edits for a single page, do we need to patrol every one of them or just the most recent edit, skimming the page to ensure nothing is wrong?

Lastly, does quality control concern factual information or just grammar and writing style? I patrolled early when I became a sysop, but noticed that there are a lot of edits I can't really verify the truth of due to having never played the game in question. For instance, if an anon makes a correction on an obscure game, I worry can't tell if it's an actual change or subtle vandalism. T.testLP(talk) 05:44, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

Ditto on the daunting, I didn't know it was so bad. I'll try to do what I can. Do talk pages have to be patrolled though? Congrats btw. :) --WarioTalk 21:35, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

Congratulations[edit]

Hey man, just wanted to congratulate you. I know going from admin to crat doesn't really offer much in the way of function, it's really just a title, but you've been with SW for so long, and I was really impressed with your requests to the other admins. You step up in a lot of ways, and you reach out to us outside of the site itself. Seeing as your last promotion was in 2007 (omg...) this seemed like an overdue reward for all of your hard work. Thanks so much man. P.S. We need to recruit more admins :P Procyon 14:37, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

Wow, thank you, Proc! --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 18:15, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

3d classics[edit]

You can see the effect here. It's pretty impressive actually. Procyon 18:18, 22 April 2015 (UTC)

Yeah I'm with you on that. The distinction I am having a problem with, then, is why the Virtual Console gets its own system category, but say, 3D Classics does not? Sure the VC is an emulator, but do we really care about the sub-rendering engines of each console? What if a console has two different emulators, or 100 for thought's sake, are we going to have multiple system categories for this console? I would rather have all games in the console's category (since it can be legitimately played on that console) and have the release groups in a non-system category (the way 3D Classics is). I hate to suggest more changes - the whole VC thing makes me tired. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 22:51, 22 April 2015 (UTC)

Neutral POV Response[edit]

Hello Notmyhandle. No problem, glad to help. I didn't know about that article, so I had to read through it. I was just going by what it says in the guide here about using a neutral point of view. I don't remember the specifics of all my edits, but hopefully they all adhere to the standards. I'll definitely try to make helpful edits in the future. Ramza66 (talk) 08:00, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

Youkai watch to Yo-Kai Watch[edit]

Hello Notmyhandle, I was wondering if you can teach me something, how to move pages to there rightfully name like Youkai Watch is actually called Yo-Kai Watch I just need help to move the page without removing the walkthrough section. If you can't help out I can ask someone else. -- RodKimble (talk) 17:43, 13 November 2015 (UTC)

The real game name is Youkai Watch. I have translated Youkai properly before (see my user page under romanizations). Here it is again: 妖怪 -> ようかい -> Youkai (yo, u, ka, i) --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 08:15, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
