Collectable items

Bionic Commando NES item box.png

Throughout some areas, you may discover an item box parachuting down to you from the sky. These items have been delivered by your allies to aid you in your fight. Collect the contents by shooting the box down, or firing your grappling hook at it. If you don't catch the item with your grapple, the item will fall down, and may disappear before you can collect it. The contents of the box will be one of four items, listed below.

1-Up doll Energy Recovery
Bionic Commando NES item 1-up.png
Collect these Ladd Spencer dolls to earn an extra life. No matter how many times you shoot down a box, you can only earn one extra life per area.
Bionic Commando NES item energy.png
Like the energy recovery vial that you earn after completing Template:~, this restores your energy, but it is used immediately upon being collected.
POW Bullet
Bionic Commando NES item POW.png
Collect this item, and an orb will appear and spin around Ladd for a brief period of time. The orb will defeat any enemy it touches.
Bionic Commando bullet sprite.png
While a single bullet is a nice consolation prize, you can easily earn them by defeating enemies.
Bionic Commando NES item continue.png

When you enter top-down view combat by encountering the enemy along a path to an area, there are certain enemies that provide a unique item that you can only collect in these views. The shielded bazooka wielder, the jeep, or the blue soldier with the grappling hook will all drop the eagle mark shown to the right. Each eagle mark that you collect grants you one continue. You can only earn a maximum of nine continues. Any eagle marks you collect beyond that have no effect.
