Controls

  • Joystick: Use the 8-way joystick to make Kagekiyo walk left and right, crouch, and hold his sword high in the air.
  • Attack Button: Use this button to make Kagekiyo swing his sword at the enemies.
  • Jump Button: Use this button to make Kagekiyo jump.
  • 1 or 2 Player Buttons: Push these buttons to begin a 1 or 2 player game.

Taira no Kagekiyo (平景清)

The protagonist of the game. He fell at the battle of Dan-no-ura in 1185, but he was resurrected and now has to fight other characters who actually existed such as Minamoto no Yoshitsune and Saito Musashibo Benkei over the Imperial Regalia of Japan, as well as defeat his arch-enemy Minamoto no Yoritomo.
To the left is Kagekiyo as he appears in the Small and Overhead Mode stages. To the right is how he appears in the Big Mode stages.

Powerups

  • Makimono (巻物): Gives Kagekiyo the power to shoot beams across the screen with his sword.
  • Tsuzura (つづら): When Kagekiyo opens these, their contents will either increase his energy, his treasure or his sword power.
  • Inochi (青): Increases Kagekiyo's energy.
  • Zeni (緑): Increases Kagekiyo's treasure (up to 99).
  • Ken (紫): Increases Kagekiyo's sword power (up to 99).
  • Sword (剣): Collect this in order to increase Kagekiyo's sword power by 5 (it costs you 10 Zeni).
  • Tawara (俵): Collect this in order to increase Kagekiyo's energy by 10 (this also costs you 10 Zeni).
  • Candle (蝋燭): Collect this in order to increase Kagekiyo's energy by 10 without affecting your Zeni.

Sacred Items

  • Kagami Mirror (八咒鏡): Makes Kagekiyo invulnerable to lightning attacks.
  • Tsurugi Sword (草薙剣): Prevents Kagekiyo's sword power from going down.
  • Magatama Jewel (八坂瓊曲玉): Makes Kagekiyo invulnerable to the poisonous mushrooms that some enemies leave behind when killed.
