Your next stop will be Oumi.
Benkei has obtained a new rod with a spiked ball.  At the start there is a scroll, which is so high that you need to jump a few times to collect it.  Beware of the fire arrows, and take down this Benkei with 100 life.  Proceed and you will find some vortexes generating moth, which is very annoying here, being difficult to hit.  Some generators are even worse that they hide behind the trees.  Pest them all and proceed to Oumi.

Namazu pools welcome you.  A few hyoutans hide in the turf array before some walls, and a few more among the pagodas.  There is a place with two odd pagodas, with an invisible torii guiding you to Ecchuu, another gag stage with an important item.  You can choose to collect all goods and return to this path later.  The paths in the next walls are blocked by destroyable pagodas, and beware of the spider-generating web.  In the middle of next room with four hyoutans, a candle is hidden in the only destroyable pagoda.  Next maze is consisted of grass-growing walls, but you can simply take the straight route to proceed.  Out of the maze you can find three more hyoutans and three pagodas, with the upper-right pagoda hiding a 1000 point item.  A breakable turf starts next area with more turves and hyoutans, follwed by another grass walled maze.  The final part of maze has many breakable walls, and one of the sacred item, the Yata no Kagami (mirror) with anti-inazuma function, is hidden in a corner.  Exit from the right side of the maze, and you can move to Kaga.

This stage, like the tenth one before it, features the caricatures of Namco employees that were later reused in the ending sequence of Beraboh Man; so once Kagekiyo has rematerialized (still in his smaller form) and fallen to the grounds, start running to the right and a caricature of this game's supervisor, Yukio Takahashi, will appear. A second one of the game's music composer (known only as "?") will appear once you have dropped down to the platform below and jumped onto the pagoda and a third one of the game's stereo papa, Kazunari Mimura (again, even though it has monaural sound) will appear when you jump off the pagoda to collect the Makimono that is suspended in midair - and a fourth one of the game's director, Norio Nakagata, will appear as you come up to a Daimajin. Once you have jumped up and struck his chest with your sword to kill him, he will leave an Inochi worth 7 behind; you will then come to a "Kanameishi", that is moving up and down in front of you. Another caricature of Nakagata will appear once you have jumped onto it - and once you have jumped from the top of its height, you must continue running to the right until you come to a Tsuzura that is suspended in midair. Another caricature of the game's programmer, Ryouihi Ohkubo, will appear when you jump up and strike it with your sword to open it, and another one of "?" will appear once you have landed; another caricature of Mimura will appear, just before you come to a torii, which will transport Kagekiyo to the seventeenth stage when entered. However, if you continue running on to the right, a third caricature of "?" and a third caricature of Nakagata will appear as five small "Kanameishi" come bouncing towards you - and much like the three on that first stage, you can either jump onto one of them for a free ride, or just stand in a place where they will not land on you. Another caricature of Takahashi and two more caricatures of Nakagata will then appear, as you come to three more Tsuzura that are suspended in midair; once you have jumped up and struck each of these ones with your sword to open them, a third caricature of Takahashi will appear as you come to the game's second sacred item (the Kagami Mirror). Once you have collected it, it will be displayed in the bottom-right corner of the screen - this will make Kagekiyo invulnerable to Inazuma when picked up, and a fourth caricature of Mimura and a fourth caricature of "?" will then appear, as you come to this stage's second torii (which will transport Kagekiyo to a different-backgrounded version of the seventeenth stage when entered; it contains arguably the most aggravating regular enemy in the game due to the fact that you have to jump and strike each of its heads)...
The other gag stage filled with Namco stff talk.  Start the stage with a breakable pagoda and a scroll. Proceed and a Daimajin will appear, and you can simply beat him with one sword wave at his chest.  The lone large rock has a hidden talk above, and the box later has one below. Keep running and you can find a torii and a pack of bouncing and flying rocks.  If you get past them, Yoritomo will appear again and bother you. Another Yata no Kagami is in the middle sky that, you must use the two boxes on the left to collect it. One more torii can be found at the end with another large rock.  For whichever torii you take, you will always reach Shinano.

While you can move on to Kouzuke, you can also take a detour to Sado for bonus.
You are at the seashore with less ground.  A gaki generator forces you to move quickly to encounter the Yahei in front.  A few more of both occupy the hills after.  After the hills you can see a candle above a very high platform, and you need to collect that by using the large rock on the right side, then return.  The next hill is occupied by three more Yahei and a Gaki generator.  Eliminate the Yahei, and use one of the Gakis to climb to the top of hill and proceed.  Jump over a few more floating platforms, and you will reach the island with a stone lion and a torii.  Take the torii and you will move on to Kouzuke.  You can also choose th climb the hill, jump into the middle tunnel of platforms, and finally arrive in Sado for bonus.

Once Kagekiyo has rematerialized (still in his smaller form again), he will land on a "Kojima" platform, that is moving up and down, over the Sanzu River beneath him; you will then have to jump onto three more "Kojima" platforms, that are moving up and down in turn, before jumping onto six more that are moving around in circles, so good timing is essential if you want to land upon them. You will now come to a "Kanameishi" that is moving up and down in front of you with a Candle to the left of it and a Tsuzura to the right of it; once you've jumped onto the "Kanameishi", collected the Candle and struck the Tsuzura with your sword to open it, you will come to a Mitsubiryu that is spitting blue fireballs at you from each of its three heads. They will each leave a Ken worth 5 behind, when destroyed - and once you have destroyed it completely, it will leave this game's third sacred item (the Tsurugi Sword) behind. Once you have collected it, it will be displayed in the bottom-right corner of the screen; not only will it stop Kagekiyo's swordpower from going down, but it will also glow when he is in his larger form (as you will soon find out). You will now come to three Tawara, which will increase Kagekiyo's energy by 10 at a cost of 10 Zeni when collected - and once Kagekiyo has entered the torii, he will be transported to the eighteenth stage (with all three sacred items).
The first part of this stage are consisted of floating platforms. You can find a candle and a box of 10 Zeni at the place of a large rock.  Jump to the ground and you will face the three headed dragon.  Cut their heads and their fireballs, claim their sword points and the Kusanagi Sword, and you will not need to worry about cutting hard objects. Leave the stage after refilling life with three Tawaras, and head to Kai.

Once Kagekiyo has rematerialized (in his larger form after a four-stage absence), start walking to the right and hold your sword high in the air by pushing the joystick into the "north-east" position; you should watch out for the seven Tekyuu that are suspended in mid-air, which will drop down on Kagekiyo as he passes under them. About halfway through the stage, you will meet up with Benkei for a second time - and he now possesses an enormous staff with a Tekyuu on each end. Once you have hit him enough times to defeat him again (he has an energy of 100) and collected the Ken he has left behind, the song you are hearing from the Yamaha YM-2151 will change back to the normal Big Mode theme; you will then come up to Makimono that is suspended in mid-air. Once you have jumped up to collect it, Kagekiyo's right (sword-holding) arm will start revolving in a clockwise direction as he passes under an eighth Tekyuu that is suspended in mid-air and dropping down on him as he passes under it - and you can then continue onward to the stage torii which when entered, will transport you to the nineteenth stage. There are only four stages left now (one Small Mode, one Overhead Mode, and two Big Mode).
Benkei will be moving to you from far away with his rod. You can choose to run to him and fight, but it is better to stay at the start and wait for him - you will not like to see the ball stuck in the path among other balls. Now just run to the right with spiked balls and fire arrows.  You will notice a scroll hanged up, but it is useless.  Proceed to Suruga.

Once Kagekiyo has rematerialized (in his smaller form for the twelfth time) and landed on a "Kojima" platform over the Sanzu River beneath him, he will have to jump onto six more "Kojima" platforms that are moving left and right in turn (the fourth one has Tawara suspended in mid-air above it; and if you know you can collect it without falling off the "Kojima", do so). You will then come up to a "Kanameishi", that is moving up and down in front of you - and once you have jumped onto it you'll have to jump onto thirty more "Kojima" platforms that are moving left and right in turn (the twelfth one has a Tsuzura and another Tawara suspended in mid-air above it and if you know you can collect them without falling off the "Kojima", do so). The nineteenth one also has another Tawara suspended in mid-air above it, and the twenty-second one also has a Candle suspended in mid-air above it; again, if you know you can collect them without falling off the "Kojima", do so. You will then come to a torii, which is suspended in mid-air - and once Kagekiyo has landed on it, he will be transported to the twentieth stage (however, if you miss it, you will fall into the Sanzu River and end up in the "Pit Stage" as if it was any hole).
You will need to cross the river.  There are no enemies, but no ground either. All you need to do is to jump over the platforms and reach the only torii to Musashi.  You can ignore the Tawara and the box, as there is a candle that you can collect without risk.

Kagekiyo has arrived in Kyoto. His trip is half done and now he needs to collect all sacred items.

Stage 12

Kyoto (京都, Over Mode)

Why do we need mattocks while we can slice them?

Ignore the skull dogs on your left and move on. Two pagodas are blocking the paths, destroy the straight right one and proceed. The first part of maze consists of Onihime coming out from cart generator, skull dogs, and hyoutans shooting tops out. A box is hidden behind two pagodas, the upper of which can be destroyed. The next part has two paths, one of which has one sword point in the end, and the other continues with less enemies. There are two more hyoutans on the right, and two Namazu pools in a shaft on the left. The walls of the narrow passage on the right can be destroyed, with a candle inside the lower wall. A few more skull dogs and Onihime carts are in the second part of maze, and when you have come to the third part, the generators (which look like Gaki generators) will release Heiankyo. There are three toriis that lead to three different paths, where the nearest one sends you to Wakasa, the middle one to Iga, and the farthest one to Yamato. Beware of more Heiankyo generators.

Stage 13

Wakasa (若狭, Big Mode)

He's here again.

Yoshitsune with daggers, again, with only a tiger. This time your sword is strong enough to eliminate him in two hits. Proceed to Echizen.

Iga (伊賀, Big Mode)

Benkei has obtained a new rod with a spiked ball. At the start there is a scroll, which is so high that you need to jump a few times to collect it. Beware of the fire arrows, and take down this Benkei with 100 life. Proceed and you will find some vortexes generating moth, which is very annoying here, being difficult to hit. Some generators are even worse that they hide behind the trees. Pest them all and proceed to Oumi.

Yamato (大和, Big Mode)

You are ambushed by a barrage of fire arrows. Run forward and when you see a swinging spiked ball, Yoshitsune will appear with long sword. Dispose of him and you can arrive in Ise.

Stage 14

Echizen (越前, Over Mode)

The hidden path to Ecchuu.
A mirror is found.

Namazu pools welcome you. A few hyoutans hide in the turf array before some walls, and a few more among the pagodas after.

Oumi (近江, Small Mode)

You begin at a line of platforms above a lake. Two vortexes generating moth will be what you do not want to leave. Proceed on more platforms, collect the candle, and jump off the farthest platform to arrive in the island with torii, and move on to Mino.

Ise (伊勢, Small Mode)

Another chance of Magatama.

A lot of bouncing rocks will fly to you, dodge well, but do not let the flying rocks from behind run away. You have two scrolls to dispose of some of the rocks. You will run over a Yahei in the middle of stage, but do not waste time on that. On the second hill you will find wolves and fire arrows. The first torii at the foot of hill will bring you to Owari. Use the aforementioned flying rock, or even the wolves, to reach the platform behind, which has a Magatama. Another torii sits behind the platform, and it will guide you to Shima.

Stage 14.5

Shima (志摩?) is the bonus stage that leads you to Owari as well.

Stage 15

Kaga (加賀, Big Mode)

He appears behind the tree.

Yoshitsune, with his long sword, will request a one-on-one duel - but he ambushes you from behind a tree. Kill him and reach the torii, and you will move across the sea and reach Echigo.

Ecchuu (越中, Gag Stage)

Yoritomo: "Game over, man!"

Mino (美濃, Big Mode)

This short cave stage only features a Mukade and Yoshitsune with long sword. Next stop will be Shinano.

Owari (尾張, Big Mode)

You will move on to Mikawa.

Stage 16

Echigo (越後, Small Mode)

Shinano (信濃, Small Mode)

More heads, less mobility.

Mikawa (三河, Small Mode)

Your only choice is to arrive in Toutoumi.

Stage 16.5

Sado (佐渡?) is the fourth bonus stage. However you may not like this stage with high platforms preventing you from collecting orbs.

Stage 17

Kouzuke (上野, Big Mode)

This short stage has Benkei with rod and a few vortexes firing thunder bolts. You will move to Suruga for a few more legs left.

Kai (甲斐, Big Mode)

The spiked ball hurts.

Toutoumi (遠江, Big Mode)

Like other stages, you will arrive in Suruga.

Stage 18

Suruga (駿河, Small Mode)

No ground. A step miss and you are out.

You will need to cross the river. There are no enemies, but no ground either. All you need to do is to jump over the platforms and reach the only torii to Musashi. You can ignore the Tawara and the box, as there is a candle that you can collect without risk.
