Prerequisites

Head to Geo and enter the Palace of Arts. In the basement you’ll find the petrified Gilbert. Talk to him to hear his thoughts about Monique. This will start officially the mission. Exit Geo and go to the Ulkan Mines.

Use the signal near the entrance to reach quickly the hideout with the Dudbear Express. Examine the book of poetry in the upper right corner and choose to read some poems. Roger will run up to stop you. Talk to him, and there'll be a small earthquake. The cave ceiling appears to be caving in. Roger will send two Dudbears to investigate and you'll find yourself automatically on the world map. Return inside and use the Dudbear Express again. Examine the book of poetry again to get Roger there and talk to him. This time he'll talk about a horse statue they bought from Kristie, to keep the ceiling up. Leave the hideout and go south. Kill the enemy to make the gates open and go left. Take the path north, on the right. Go Up the stairs, cross the bridge, and go north to reach the abandoned room. Here you’ll find Gilbert. Talk to the statue, then exit the mine and go to Lumina.

Once there, talk to Monique in her shop. She will leave, telling she wants to go to the beach to relax. Head to Madora Beach, and use the Boink to reach the birdcage lighthouse. Inside, you’ll see Elle and Monique talking about saving Gilbert. Flameshe will appear and she will give Monique the magic spell to break the curse: "Heavens bless the earth with life-giving showers of rain. The ancient memories of Mother Earth fill our souls with bliss. Know the truth that is the ultimate tower of energy for all". Keep this in mind!

Now return to the Ulkan Mines and reach the abandoned room with Gilbert's statue. Monique will be there. She won’t remember the spell very well, so you’ll have to help her suggesting the right option. If you make a mistake, you will still have the opportunity to try again. Once the spell is pronounced correctly, Gilbert will be free and the mission will end.
