Template:Series disambig Rolling Thunder is a run and gun arcade game that was released by Namco in 1986 and licensed to Atari Games for US manufacture and distribution. It runs on Namco System 86 hardware.
The player must take control of "Albatross", a secret agent who must save his female partner, "Leila Blitz", from the terrorist organization "Geldra". He has a life meter in the game, but can only take two physical hits from the enemies, as a single hit will drain half of the meter. However, taking a hit from a bullet or other projectile will result in an instant death.
This is the first game in the Rolling Thunder trilogy. It was followed by two sequels: Rolling Thunder 2 (1990) and Rolling Thunder 3 (1993). The Capcom game Code Name: Viper and the Sega game Shinobi also feature similar gameplay to this series.
