Welcome to the game. Metal Hawk will start out directly over that static boat on the right-hand side of this area, which has two Type 1 Cannons mounted on top of it; they will not fire any anti-aircraft missiles at you just yet because it's only the start of the game. Once the area's theme starts to be heard from the Yamaha YM-2151, push the lever up to descend to 150 metres and drop a missile on both of the cannons to kill them (for 10 points apiece), then drop a missile on the centre of that boat to destroy it for 20 more points - an arrow will then appear in the centre of the screen and point you towards a group of six Battleships (five "mini" and one "normal"), as a Japanese speech sample is heard from the C140; while you are trying to drop a missile on them for 10 more points apiece (the "normal" one is worth 20), seven Red Heli will come flying towards you, which can also be killed for 10 more points apiece. Once you have fired a shot at each of these to kill them, the arrow will reappear in the centre of the screen and point you towards an island which is not shown on the image to the right, as that Japanese speech sample is heard from the C140 - and it has a small building on it which can be destroyed for 20 points, three Gas Tanks which can be destroyed for 30 points apiece, and four Type 3 Cannons which can be destroyed for 10 points apiece. Once you've scored 300 points, the "stage clear" theme will be heard from the Yamaha YM-2151, as Metal Hawk flies back up to the highest altitude of 400 metres, and off the top of the screen; you will then receive 10 bonus points for every second you have remaining, and the highest military ranking you can attain at this point is that of a Sergeant. Metal Hawk will now proceed to Area E-4: Canal Zone.
