This page needs images of controls for the Wii from the controller buttons category to make learning the controls easier. If a set of controller button images is available for this system, please add them. If a set of controller images isn't available, it might need to be brought up on StrategyWiki:Staff lounge.

GameCube Wii Switch Action
Neutral control Neutral nunchuk Neutral lstick Move Olimar. The purple circle shows the direction Olimar is facing and where Pikmin will land if thrown.
Neutral cstick Down dpad L button+Neutral rstick Swarm Pikmin in your party. Pikmin will automatically interact (attack enemy, move box, etc.) with anything they are moved toward.
A button A button A button Punch enemy, pluck Pikmin, throw Pikmin. Hold with Pikmin to separate by color. Move Pikmin in or out of onion if standing underneath. Repair spacesuit and get status report if standing in light near ship.
B button B button B button Call Pikmin. Hold for larger area of effect.
X button C button X button Dismiss Pikmin; this separates them by color.
Y button Plus button Plus button View Pikmin numbers & Map (after getting radar).
L button Z button ZL button Face camera forward
L button+Left control/Right control Z button+Left nunchuk/Right nunchuk Left rstick/Right rstick Rotate camera
R button Left dpad/Right dpad ZR button Zoom camera; cycles between close, medium and far.
Z button Up dpad Up rstick/Down rstick Change camera angle; either low or high angle.
Start button Minus button Minus button Pause game, view end of the day options.

Exclusive to New Play Control, while holding a Pikmin, you can press B button to swap the Pikmin you are holding or Down dpad to swap its maturity. On the Switch, R button swaps Pikmin type, X button swaps Pikmin maturity and A button+B button releases the Pikmin you’re holding.

Exclusive to the original GameCube verison, pressing Down dpad will cause Olimar to lay down, where he can't be hurt nor move. After a while, up to two Pikmin nearby will pick you up and take you to your ship.
