Yes, welcome aboard Norby :) Procyon 21:55, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Table of contents[edit]

Hi Norby! Please take a look at this diff to understand why I adjusted the changes you made to the C&C3:TW table of contents. The typical format for every link in the ToC is Page name. Thanks very much and keep up the great work! Procyon 22:18, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Once again you're not making the links correctly. If you really don't understand how these guides are laid out, just copy/paste a link from elsewhere on the table and change the page name to what you want (i.e. Glossary → Allied Structures). Look at the changes I made here to see what we're talking about. - najzere 19:57, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
I don't know why we have to go around and around on this. You can't just put plaintext into the Table of Contents. Also, if those were going to be pages of each character's combos as your edit summary indicated, they should probably all go on one "Combos" page. If you want to add a link to a Table of Contents it's easy, just do it like this: * name of the page.
 • name of the game is the name of the game (i.e. "Star Wars The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels")
 • name of the page is the name of the page you're creating (i.e. "Combos")
So all together it would look like this: * Combos. Please, please try to understand this simple method of linking to a page, thanks. - najzere 21:12, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Norby, you've got to start asking yourself, every time before you hit the "Save page" button: "Did I do this correctly? Will everything I did look the way I intended it to look. Will it match the look of the page that I inserted it on to." It's not enough to just put words down. If you don't make any effort to make your work consistent with everyone else's, it makes you look very bad. Take more pride in your work, and don't be in such a rush. The site isn't going anywhere, and people will appreciate you more if you take the time to make sure that what you're doing is correct. I don't think you are doing that right now. Procyon 21:47, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Categories[edit]

Don't put category tags on guide pages. They only go on the main page of the guide. Thanks, - najzere 20:05, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Sorry about that.(Noryb989 22:24, 6 July 2009 (UTC))

Use the wiki properly[edit]

It's clearly a waste of time trying to give you tips on how to use this wiki since you don't appear to read your talk page and you certainly don't learn from all cleaning up after you people have to do. But here goes anyway.

 • Use the "Guide page" button above the edit text box to insert the Header Nav and Footer Nav into pages.
 • Use another set of "=" in headings that are subheadings (i.e. ==Level 2 heading==, ===Level 3 heading===, etc.)
 • Use proper formatting of heading titles. This means the first letter in the heading and proper names are capitalized and nothing else.
 • Use the "Show preview" button below the edit text box and right next to the "Save page" button to preview your work instead of making a bunch of edits to one page.
 • Most important: read through the links provided to you in your welcome message. Learn how to use this wiki.

Thanks, - najzere 00:39, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Hey, I was just wondering why you bother editing the C&C pages. You spend time on them like you care about them, but then your edits look like this, so I have to wonder. Mainly I'm just talking to myself, since you don't read or respond to your talk page, so I won't bother with more advice on how to edit properly. To me it seems like you would put some effort into not making the guide look like crap if you want to keep adding content to it, but maybe I'm the crazy one. - najzere 23:42, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Hey, I thought I'd waste some more of my valuable time trying to get you to adopt good editing habits. So this time, I want to tell you to capitalize the beginnings of sentences and headings. The only appeal I can make to you is that you are making the guide look bad. You clearly like the game and are willing to expend some effort on the guide, so why do you want to make it look like crap at the same time that you're adding to it? All right, that's all for today. I'll be back after your next miserable edit! - najzere 22:54, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

I'm sorry its just that I want more users to edit anything Command and Conquer related things and the Tiberium Wars pages and red Alert 3 Pages Complete thats all.(Noryb989 06:47, 31 January 2009 (UTC))

By the way I did read these messages and I did follow advices but my computer tried to rebel on me and tried to exterminate those who have red blood. I can't get the Internet to load faster nor my rebelious computer to work.(Noryb989 09:46, 4 February 2009 (UTC))

If you want to create a section which hopefully someone else might edit, just add sect-stub underneigh the heading. If you want the whole page to be edited by someone else, put stub above the header nav. It isn't garanteed that someone will edit it, but it might increase your chances. --Melon247 17:59, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Wow, you made it almost a month before I decided to stop just reverting your improper edits to come waste another plea on your talk page. Okay, so today I'm here to ask you (again) to use the buttons above the edit text box when creating new pages. Specifically, use the "Guide page" button, as this will put the Header Nav and Footer Nav into the page for you. This means, in a fair world, that you could prevent others from having to come in after you to add the navigation by hand, simply by PRESSING ONE BUTTON before you start editing. It's not that serious (unfortunately), because someone has to cleanup everything you do, even if you somehow mastered clicking a button. While I'm here I may as well reiterate that you shouldn't put a ==Level 2 Heading== at the top of the page which is identical to the page name. Users know what page they're on already. This is where I would normally ask you to also use the Page preview button, but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be able to identify something out of place even if you used it. Until next time, - najzereT 23:03, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Sorry for not using the wiki properly but don't worry I'll try to improve.(Noryb989 17:49, 11 June 2009 (UTC))

Just some advice[edit]

Sometimes people can sound a little harsh, but they usually have the best intentions ;) Try looking at other pages for examples, use the Show preview button obsessively, and look around at the buttons on the edit page to see if any of them will help you do what you want to.

I also often will open up another StrategyWiki page in another tab or window (especially a red link so I can look at the formatting that the buttons at the top of a new page's edit box will give me) and look at that for ideas. One example is the ToC, where you can use Controls (in this case for a Controls page) to format the page links, so you don't have to type out the full page name (especially on some of those C&C games, ie Command & Conquer: Generals - Zero Hour ).

Don't let the admins get under your skin, but don't irritate them too much, either. They can be very helpful if you show a willingness to learn and improve your edits. (this block of too much text added by:)--~Vizeroth (contribs)~-- 22:36, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

I only want all the pages(Not just 404 pages) in the Wiki to be in complete state and thats all.(Noryb989 23:10, 6 February 2009 (UTC))

Control images[edit]

Saying you "don't know how to use Wii images" just isn't going to cut it. If you read the Guide, specifically the section on Controls, you would find useful links to all button image templates. However, there are perfectly good examples of using the button templates you need on the very page you are attempting to edit. When you add content to a page, you must make sure you are conforming to the style and presentation being used. Look at the other sections in the page to see how they have been laid out and make your edits correspondingly. Use copy and paste if you have to. Please try again, as I agree that those pages need information on basic controls. - najzereT 21:42, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

With all due respect I am trying the hardest I can to use those Control Images.(Noryb989 23:19, 29 June 2009 (UTC))

SSBB[edit]

What is the point of adding a statistics section to all the characters if you're just copy/pasting the same numbers into all of them? Not only that, but they all have extra apostrophes on the end of the speed statistic. These edits are meaningless! - najzereT 22:26, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

I'm just adding the Statistics to the pages thats all.(Noryb989 23:47, 24 March 2009 (UTC))
Are you saying they all happen to have the same stats? Because if not, you're just putting misinformation on the page. It's not going to help anyone even if the statistics were correct, because they're not compared to anything. One table with all the characters and their statistics on the Characters page would be much more helpful. In the future if you want to create a section with zero information content, use the sect-stub template. - najzereT 04:24, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

With all due respect I'm trying to do the best I can to help out in this Wiki and besides most of the articles don't need any help or improvements.(Noryb989 22:25, 6 July 2009 (UTC))

SC2 unit information[edit]

Please stick with the official website for unit confirmations and changes. Any other sources are temporary announcements until the game's release. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 04:59, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

If you're going to be cleaning the content, I'd suggest the following:

 • Remove all unit information not shown on site at the same time (this way all the information is accessible in the same place if the units are later announced and we want to revive some of the content).
 • Make a note at the top of the page in bold stating "All information listed here is taken from the official website. All other sources will be ignored until the game's release."
 • Add missing units and correct incorrect information ("Nighthawk" is still named TF-620 Nomad).

However, I think you're just wasting your time right now as they are making tons of changes. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 00:24, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Please don't make unnecessary removals from the page. As I mentioned in the edit summary, I created those image slots for future uploads when the images do become available. Also, the page in question is tagged as needing images, rather than having them removed - it is much more helpful to upload images from appropriate sources (including official unit renders) rather than interfering with the development of the page. --Sigma 7 05:17, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Well I'm so sorry but I only see the Baneling, Hydralisk and the Mutalisk are at the SCII main website. I removed certain units because we do not know if this unit will appear in the game or not.(Noryb989 20:01, 8 June 2009 (UTC))

Welcoming users and IPs[edit]

To welcome a user (someone who has created an account with StrategyWiki), first make sure that they have made at least one edit, then use the welcome template. When welcoming IP addresses (not a SW user), use the register template. Both templates require the use of the "subst" keyword like: and . Your signature is automatically entered, so don't sign welcome messages. - najzereT 21:55, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Wikipedia template[edit]

There may be nothing wrong with the Wikipedia template, but you need to be sure to put it in the right place if you're going to add it to a guide. I've rolled back your edit to the Disgaea: Hour of Darkness page (and the rest of them) because you added the template to the bottom of the page. If it should be anywhere on the page, it should be below the infobox (or the DoubleJump template in the case of guides with that template). Additionally, you may want to consider simply making a better use of your edits. If you want to add the Wikipedia template, that's fine, but try to add more to the page while you're making an edit. Additionally, make sure the Wikipedia article being linked to is for the same game as the page you are linking from, as we've found this isn't always the case in other places (primarily categories).--~Vizeroth · (c)~-- 23:42, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

ToC updates[edit]

Please don't make other people clean up after you, if you know what you're doing. -- Prod (Talk) 04:39, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Well I'm sorry but I am trying to help.(Noryb989 19:49, 6 June 2009 (UTC))

Show preview[edit]

You are changing quotes on Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3/Allied units from normal quotes to using the quote template with one edit per quote. There were only nine quotes, you can do all of them in a single edit instead of spamming the page's history and recent changes. The Show preview button is the one next to the Save page button below the edit text box. Use it instead of making multiple unnecessary edits in rapid succession. Thanks, - najzereT 18:50, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Wait I want to become Rollback so how to become rollback?(Noryb989 18:52, 11 May 2009 (UTC))

I told you how. I sent you an email. Please read it. Procyon 18:54, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

I read the email and I'm sorry for not responding to your past messages because I have been very busy lately trying to get a job. I'm sorry for not replying to any messages because I was to busy.(Noryb989 19:56, 4 June 2009 (UTC))

Copyrighted material[edit]

Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars/Cairo has been deleted per our policy on copyrighted material. Your use of this source is in violation of the copyright holder's license. If you want to copy/paste someone's work, you need to get their permission, make proof of their consent available for fact-checking (email, IM, etc.), and credit your source in the edit summary. In the future, make sure you get permission or write your own content. - najzereT 16:46, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Wait doesn't this wiki run on a GNU Free Documentation License?(Noryb989 20:24, 18 May 2009 (UTC))

Yes, which means you can use material with compatible licenses with attribution. The guide in question uses a normal copyright, with a stipulation that you have to inform the author of your intended use beforehand. If you do so, and the author agrees to let you use his guide, please provide a copy of or a link to the written permission, chat log, email or whatever he used to give you consent. Then make sure to put a link to his guide in the edit summary when you recreate the page (or I can undelete it for you). If you do ask to use the guide, make sure you inform him that it will be released under the GFDL and may be modified and copied after that without any input from him. - najzereT 20:51, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Please don't remove perfectly good information claiming that it's copyrighted without doing some research first. The information on Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath came from Wikipedia, and was published under the GFDL license which is compatible with our own. Furthermore, the information is attributed in the page's edit history. Most of the guides use Wikipedia's writeup on the main page, so don't go around deleting that information. If you find something you find is suspect, the proper course is to add the copyvio template at the top of the page. This will alert an admin, who will look into it. - najzereT 22:18, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Okay, I'll listen to your advices.(Noryb989 17:52, 11 June 2009 (UTC))

Cleaning up your own edits[edit]

Tags such as cleanup and needcontrols are notes to the editor to fix problems on the page. Putting these on every page you edit doesn't give you license to make bad edits. You are essentially notifying yourself that your page needs to be cleaned up. Instead of putting meaningless tags on the pages, you should just clean them up and add controls yourself. I went through Battalion Wars 2/Anglo Attack‎‎ and cleaned up most of it, so take a look at the diff to see what you should be changing. Specifically, add your own button templates, don't capitalize every other word (just names, titles, places) and don't put underscores in the prevpage and nextpage parameters of the Footer Nav. I expect you'll go back and fix the other Battalion Wars 2 pages you've created on your own now. Thanks, - najzereT 15:20, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

It is done. I cleaned up Shipyard Ablaze and Incursion but those 2 pages only have a few control templates though. No need to add more control images to those two pages.(Noryb989 18:50, 23 May 2009 (UTC))

Great, just keep working on it and don't forget to remove the cleanup or needcontrols tags when they're no longer applicable. Thanks for fixing these things, - najzereT 18:54, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

You welcome.(Noryb989 21:29, 23 May 2009 (UTC))

Please stop capitalizing seemingly at random. You should only be capitalizing the first letters of sentences and names. I don't understand why you are capitalizing words like "next" or "large". Also, if you're going to capitalize the name of a unit or weapon, make sure you are consistent throughout the guide and especially on the very same page. Words beginning with a capitalized letter let readers know that it is the name of something, and misusing it is confusing and unprofessional. - najzereT 17:59, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

I'll listen to your advice thank you and I'm sorry for what I did recently.(Noryb989 19:59, 26 May 2009 (UTC))

ToC templates[edit]

If you put a template like cleanup on a guide's ToC, it gets spread throughout the guide, because it is transcluded twice on every page (in the Header and Footer Navs). First of all, the ToC doesn't need a cleanup, it just needs to be filled out. Second, if you want to add tags to the ToC, put them in <noinclude> tags so they don't interfere with all the other pages in the guide. - najzereT 18:40, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

I'll listen to every one of your advises from now on. I will not ignore any new messages from other admins.(Noryb989 20:01, 9 June 2009 (UTC))

Responding to your talk page[edit]

Why are you responding to posts on your talk page from MONTHS ago? The original poster (probably me) doesn't care anymore. You received a lot of posts asking you to shape up, and there's no point in responding to them after this much time has passed and you've (presumably) improved. When your talk page has been edited you'll see a big orange box at the top of the screen notifying you. When you see it, go to your talk page and respond at that time if you want to have a discussion. — najzereT 22:58, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

I have to respond to every message to prove I'm listening to your advices. Also I am trying to improve my edits here and with all due respect there is nothing here that needs improvements because most of the articles don't need my help.(Noryb989 01:10, 7 July 2009 (UTC))

Every article needs something, but if you're having trouble finding things to do, you can always check out the cleanup project. Posting comments to all your old talk page messages isn't proving you're listening to any advice; it only highlights the fact that you never responded in a timely matter. What proves you listened to the advice is that your edits have improved. I wouldn't worry about any messages that are older than a month – if you haven't received any recently it's because you've been making good edits. — najzereT 15:39, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Okay. I'll listen to your advice.(Noryb989 17:45, 7 July 2009 (UTC))
