Pokémon Diamond and Pearl/Pastoria Great Marsh
Similar to the Safari Zone of previous games, the Pastoria Great Marsh contains many Pokémon that are unobtainable anywhere else in the game.
Visit the Observatory
Before you enter the Great Marsh, visit the observatory upstairs. The people there can tell you how the Great Marsh works, and the binoculars by the windows will give you a preview of the Pokémon that you can catch in the Great Marsh. The binoculars(costs 100) will give a 1 in 6 chance of revealing where the Pokémon of the day is, which is rare in the Marsh, but can be caught anytime that day. Make note of where the Pokémon of the day is from the binoculars and go to that area first to try and catch it. The Pokémon that can only be caught in the Great Marsh are Carnivine, Skorupi, and Croagunk whom are part of the Pokémon of the day list.
Play the Safari Game
For 500 Poké Dollars, you are allowed to take 500 steps and throw up to 30 Safari Balls. You can't fight Pokémon here, so the only way to make them easier to capture is to throw bait or splatter them with mud. This may drive the Pokémon away, but if successful, the Pokémon becomes easier to capture. Throwing bait increases your chances of capturing the Pokémon, but also increases the chance of it fleeing. Throwing mud does the opposite. Throwing mud lowers the chance of it fleeing, but also lowers your chances of capturing the Pokémon.
Pokémon found
Pokémon of the day(rotating)
Use the binoculars on the 2nd floor in the entrance building to find the exact location of these Pokémon where only one appear a day. After one encounter of these Pokémon then the percentage goes up another 10%
